Hwang's mother abandoned childcare and is artificially breastfeeding
I'm only in this room for two hours
Currently, it seems to be waiting to see if he can live well with his mother and other chimpanzees.
It seems that they are sometimes attacked by their mothers and other chimpanzees.

Wether it's monkey, ape, primates it's a full of cruelty. It doesn't matter whether it has a tail or not. This animal was imprinted with trauma, then put in a glass box for the entertainment, curiosity of those who are supposed to be a higher species. Mankind has lost its tail, yet the most inferior species on the planet. A blinded species

Hi CEG, I was also worried about this little chimp. They don't seem to realise that keeping him in a sterile non entertaining ( if that's the right word) environment, is not doing him any good at all. Maybe stimulating environment. He should have at least some kind of vegetation, or toy bears, or blankets etc, and not just 3 blank walls with nothing to comfort him. I think that the chimp is a him ? It would be just like you or me, stuck in a room with nothing but a bit of old fire hose, no bed or chairs, and just flat fabricated floor and wall, and no one to talk or communicate with.

My very first thought exactly. What cruel clueless idiot caretakers or lack of care kind of people put a baby chimp all by itself . This picture is so wrong why isn’t every single visitor complaining and doing so loudly this cruelty and abuse.

Why isn't someone taking care of that little baby? He's in a cold sterile room. Should be with his mum at that age or a human caregiver...constantly.

This chimpanzee was born on July 30, 2021, and his mother has abandoned childcare and is being raised by a keeper. I am in this room from 13:00 to 15:00. The rest of the time I'm in my bedroom/play room. @@user-KIMURA-AKIYUKI -- I must say that it surprises me that a Zoo employee would actually say that this baby chimp is being left alone, so he can "get....used to the customer's eyes". Sorry, but that is a piss poor priority for a responsible zoo to have. A baby chimp should not be left alone!!!! Yes - it does happen from time to time that a mother chimp rejects her infant. A responsible zoo would have a team assigned 24/7...partly so that the astoundingly demanding care of a baby chimp can be managed properly. Also, it is important that he not bond especially to one human being...he's a chimp after all and will need to be integrated with the chimp troop at Toyohashi Zoo, eventually. It surprises me that this kind of atitude predominates at a zoo in an advamced and affluent country like Japan. I hope this is the exeption and not the rule. At the very least that baby needs a companion in that room with him!! Including from 13:00 to 15:00 when the Staff needs to cycle through lunches. Don't let budget contraints effect the animal's well being. Come on!!! Be better than that!!

First, the chimpanzee's mother may have an aggressive attitude toward the chimpanzee, not just child neglect. It seems that it is artificially bred for that reason. When meeting with other chimpanzees, even if the keepers hold them in their arms, some chimpanzees are aggressive. Currently, in this space, two hours in the morning are used for training to get used to the audience's gaze, and the rest of the time is spent in the backyard over fences to see if the mother can raise her children and if she can do it with other chimpanzees. It seems that the member is watching

Poor little thing needs to be outdoors, being stimulated by nature and his surroundings, by other chimps. They’re social creatures. This sterile environment, no toys or tree branches or climbing apparatus is just so so sad. 😡 He must be losing his mind in that room.

So what if it's all by itself. That's life. You win some and you lose some. Life isn't perfect. Life is tough. Some animals have to go it alone while others have the pleasure of company and socializing. Just like some people are alone and others aren't. It looks fed and it's got a roof over its head. That's more than some animals, and even some people, have. Could always be a lot worse off than you all think it is. Just like an only child that has to find ways to entertain themselves, so too will this animal have to find ways to entertain itself. You all think that he's supposed to have the golden life and be catered to like he's a supreme being. Get real. That ain't how life is people

WTH !! I’m beginning to realize that Japanese zoo’s are indifferent to the needs of great apes. Our nearest relative’s! Solitary confinement for a baby is cruel. But what else can we expect from a country that let Furt’s baby die a violent death. Didn’t even give her a name! 🤬
