Thank you, Fred! We are so used to thinking of ourselves as unawake, that we can miss all the obvious signs. I try to pay attention now when I notice my sense of self blurring with surroundings, when I feel full of acceptance or love, when the colors look especially vivid, etc. We can get used to being awake, and then dismiss it as ordinary. Pay attention--you might be more awake than you know!

LOVELY Fred Yes yes own it let it be yours ...wow spontaneous . You have it nabbed ..what "IS" always appears as the minute we talk or emila or communicate or even think it , it isn't it but the ego again I want to be seen as a teacher an important type of person as signnificant look at me mummy aren't i great aren't i deserving of this or that ( love , attention). It cannot be said , the sign pts are sticky though I want to be "home2 but I am not and only can point in the vicinity of but not actually at clearer i hope . neti----neti.

Yes in and out of the gateless-gate . The experience counts it registers it as , coming and going but isn't still the goal . Thoughts are adapted child ( adult ?) mode doing something with . EXPERIENCE at this stage is very valuable , oftne it can be unpleasant .

Thank you, Fred, for another great talk! I retired 2 1/2 years ago at age 60 with only one item on my bucket list: Awakening. Since then, I have come a LONG way, but still no cigar. Intellectually, I have no further questions. And, the compelling need to 'seek' has dissolved. But, my own proof of Awakening has not yet appeared: thought-free, visceral conviction. I remain fearful of death, disease, embarrassment, poverty, etc., etc. I would like to do a Skype session with you, but have read your admonition that students should come with an optimistic frame of mind. I would not be able to do that. Like the bumper sticker says: I feel so much better since I gave up hope. I won't allow myself to become hopeful or optimistic. I have had the wonderful opportunity of having phone calls with two Enlightened individuals and Skype calls with two other Enlightened individuals. They were all authentic, motivated and committed teachers, but not terribly skillful. I would appreciate your advice. Namaste.

Brad, if you're willing to be skeptical of your own thinking for 90 minutes versus The Living Method, then I'll meet with you. Barring that, anything I told you would be a story. Something might work. Or might not. None can know. Even The Living Method might not work for you. It doesn't work in more than about 90% of the cases. If it doesn't work for you, you'll be out $300. If it does, it'll change your life. I get all the bookings I want, so I'm happy either way. Good luck!

Fred, I had been seeking enlightenment when I came across your book "Awaken Now". I finished reading it just now. Reading the book, I had my awakening. If I'm being honest, it was almost anticlimactic?? I wasn't hit by a fit of hysterical laughter. It was nothing spectacular. It was just a very casual knowing, "Oh, right. True. Yes." I always thought it would be so much grander than that. I've heard so many accounts of awakenings and they've all sounded so "wonderful" and "amazing" and "mind-blowing" that I almost doubted my own awakening... "could it really be that simple???" But then there was no more seeking, and that's when I knew, "Okay, that was it. THIS is it. Haha." So funny.

That's terrific! Never envy those explosive awakenings. They come with their own set of problems. The way you wrote this tells me your awakening was authentic. Now, come join us for satsang! You see the subtlety. I know it feels like you could never "unsee" it. You can. You have to earn this gift backwards: come to satsang! And welcome Home, dear. ♥

i think i have a problem accpeting my "wake up calls". i had an awakening (or whatever word you wanna call it) maybe 5month ago while meditation. i was like! .OMG!!! Of course!!THIS IS WHAT I AM...i was always that! everything else is NOT!! what i am!!.... then it somehow faded away... 3month ago i had a conversation with my life-coach, we had nice conversation about my life and my future and i talked about some of my core-beliefs and suddely while talking in her presence i "woke up" ...i thought ...."ohoh!!! omg" ... i know this!! ... but i can´t tell her ...she will think i am insane now, i cant explain this to anyone, i have to get back in character , i hope she doesn´t see i broke the agreement of beeing this character XD ... then i was me again, it was funny how i very specifically knew what i had to do to appear like my character again , what concepts i had to belief and how to talk ...wtf XD ... any idea why i would be so afraid? and what can i do to accept it the next time i wake up. Love your videos and your style of teaching btw :)

The one who believes it's remembering these awakenings is not the One who actually had them. That's the core problem for you, and for everyone else who's had a similar experience - including me back in 1992. It kept me confused for 14 years. (And a little more than that.) Resolution in the form of apparent durable Realization may happen all on its own. Or it may not. I had to get a face-to-face living teacher to move beyond apparent oscillation. Not everyone does, although MOST people will. Be careful of the story about making "progress." It's never quite true. It's not even close to being true in pre-awakening. It's closer to being true in post-awakening. But ultimately you cannot - and don't need to - progress toward that which you already are. Still, the EXPERIENCE of progress will likely present itself, and it's such a seductive story that few can resist it. It's pretty rare for Awakeness to wake up to the truth of itself in the absence of an apparent, experienced, yet wholly untrue "teacher." It happens, but not often. We usually walk right over it trying to walk toward it. But the rarity of waking up "on our own" (as if there was anything else other than You), it doesn't even compare to the rarity of CLEARING on your own. Like many of you, I've heard or read that such a thing has happened. I must tell you that I did not experience that myself, and to my knowledge I have never witnessed it happening to anyone else.

Hi Fred, at 12:33 you use the term "arising" -- what does this mean in that context?

An object, or a collection of objects, whether gross or subtle. Anything that rises and falls within the stillness of space. That means people, flowers, mountains, the whole world, or even the whole universe--the shape of Oneness in this moment.

I'm confused. At some points in the video you talked about awakening as if it is a realization that comes out of the blue. Yet at other times, unless I've misunderstood, it seems that the only reason awakeness remains unconscious is because a person is not serious about waking up. This implies effort. In all my years of meditating, reading and listening to teachers, all I've accumulated is a lot of knowledge about other people's awakenings and spiritual paths. I've come to see all that knowledge as ultimately meaningless. So my question is this: Are there some people who, despite ongoing commitment and motivation, simply will not awaken because that's just what awakeness wants to experience via that body/mind? Rather, awakeness wants to experience the suffering that arises in a seemingly separate self as it tries to do something it can never achieve.

Awakening cannot be forced or guaranteed through effort of any kind. The best we can do is create an environment that encourages it. The Living Method provides a very strong influence, but ultimately realization happens, or it does not, in accordance with a will other than our own.

Its been a long time Yes AM Seeing! The what the point-less ness of the voidness of all and everything hits me wham ! Again and again , to the the deep sense of "point-less-ness". Now what ? Jim is very clear , as i said to someone in a shop after communion yesreday at about 9am : There are "NO THINGS" in the universe whatsoever , there never were and there never can be ! Wham, .......Slap! It hits you .....again and again.. The what , dark night s seem to hit me , this consciousness came upon me as Nis said i had no part in this I did not want it !" So NOW what ? God Bless ( I am totally subsummmed in God ( IS) ) R

The neurotic normals will hate us ! We will be misunderstood . me in and outa the groove .. But I must not slip back into neurotic conformity to what isn't if I decide to go along with , that is my choice , passive aggressive placatory and ultimately very creepy "parasitism" isn't acceptable , I -am Alone So how to apply the knife , carefully but as you say in all seriousness, we do not want anyhting else , all thoughts are potentila stuicking points for that other ( old devil "i", ego , me as St paul said Sars , the carnal mind ), pretty soon we fall back into despiar and depravity and confusion. The Empty vessel is filled with demons , help!! So Bonhoffer aloowed himself to be executed , Jesus finally not my will, fear now dealt with I am ready Father , but YOUR WILL be done! It happens time and again until siezing the moment , the falling catches us out . I do want this = to the seriousness ? So Awakening is not an opiton it is all and everything , each foot , being placed down feels momentous.
