Yes! I remember when we(ARMY) tried super hard to get "I need u" mv to hit even 1 million. It sounds so silly now when they are worldwide stars but they literally rose from nothing!

2016 is the year when blackpink debut .It's not the year they poppin off ,is the year they debut .So, They instantly got popular right after their debut. Boombayah and whistle is their debut song

@@vernonlefttoenail__ Stay was not their debut, but Jennie wrote it while they were still trainees, so that might be why some are confused as you can argue its their oldest song even if they recorded it later.

EXO and Red Velvet’s discographies are god tier. I can only say views does not mean quality, there were a lot of great songs released but they didn’t make it to the list.

Black Pink songs are definitely bangers but they sound similar. Not much difference. So I understand y that comment was made.

it would be cool to see a different compilation of the songs that were actually the most viewed/most popular that year, since this one is using current rates (from when the vid was made) and listing them in the year they came out. It's not super common, but there are many cases in which a song will go viral years after its release and people go back to watch the old mvs unrelated: why does this vid have so many typos on the artists and song titles lmao

The only reason why I don't care for compilations with only the view counts from just the year alone is because a video released in January has a huge advantage over videos released in December.

Psy is a huge star in Korea and he was famous way before Gangnam Style became a hit. He has a lot of serious songs too. Right now he has his own agency with the girl you saw Hyuna signed under him and also Jessi a super famous singer/rapper in Korea. He's doing super well. You can check out some of his other songs you may be surprise !

Keep in mind that, the MV views are not counting views from the year it released but at the time the video was created. So they may not be the “most viewed” at the time of release and the numbers were likely much lower. Back in the early 2010s, KZread was not the main platform for Kpop MVs and streaming MVs to up the viewcount was not a thing. So for any of those MVs, 100million views is amazing because that means years after it’s initial release, people are still watching/listening to it. There are groups who made huge impacts in the Kpop industry who don’t have hundreds of millions of views on their MVs. It doesn’t mean they weren’t popular or good songs, it just wasn’t a thing to stream the latest release to up the viewcount. Like BTS’ MVs, they likely weren’t in the top 10 in 2013-2014, those views came in after they blew up and hit international success a few years later.

J Hope and Suga are members of BTS. Both songs in the 2020 list were solo songs released under BTS but they also have solo mixtapes as does RM. J Hope and RM keep the same name but Suga uses the name Agust D as a solo artist. Their mixtapes are awesome, well worth checking out.

Exo are known as the Nations Boy group...

In 2016 BLACKPINK debuted with 2 songs "Whistle" and "Boombayah".....and from then they are dominating... even though they are not very popular that time like other old groups. But still they manage to get more views and people started to know them.💖🖤 And blackpink don't get much Comeback but when they did they just killed it

This video was not viewed a lot on KZread in that year. just means it was released in that year The old bts video was not seen by many people in that year, but after bts became famous, so the number of views is high.

Be mindful that many of these videos were not necessarily getting that many views when released. When the artists attained worldwide popularity, the view counts of their MV would simply explode, including their older MVs. This approach basically gives you hints on the latest global phenomena in kpop, since global name recognition would push the KZread view counts explosively. This is why you keep on seeing the same groups repeatedly.

SNSD is the short version of their name in Korean. Usually people call them by their English name, Girl‘s Generation. Also the thing you mentioned asking if those 2011-2012 groups are still around: Super Junior, or Suju for short, is still around. Bigbang also just had a comeback after a lot of years two days ago. For SNSD they‘re on an infinite hiatus. Since they debuted back in 2007, every girlgroup looks up to them. Girl‘s generation are basically the representation of the start of K-pop’s fame. Most of these groups sadly disbanded in the last two years. Nu‘est just recently disbanded after exactly 10 years of their career, which was very sad for all of us. There are barely any 3rd gen girlgroups left too. Shinee is also still around and active. They are literally a HUGE part in the way of the road to fame of kpop. Beast, now named Highlight, also still promotes. Along with 2pm and 2am, that are going strong too.

BTS didn't actually started that big, They went off after like 3 or 4 is where they actually blew up. Red Velvet is also not a new group they Debuted earlier than Blackpink. Blackpink debuted and became big immediately. BigBang, one of the biggest group back then till now, they just came back after a yearssssss.

2NE1 is spelled "to anyone". The girl in the duo Troublemaker is Hyuna. She is also in the normal MV for Gangnam Style, has her own version, and is the one singing Bubble Pop, the song you said was your first. I really recommend listening to more from her. She just doesn't give a single F. Yes, TWICE are more then still just a thing :D There have been collabs between groups, although only for covers as far as I know. Other then that there are sub-units with only part of a groups members, and rather recently new groups were formed out of members from different groups (see SuperM). Yes, Solo is the first solo-song from a Blackpink member. Definitely check out Mamamoo. They are the vocal queens of kpop. JHope and Suga are both BTS members. I'd really recommend you watching the video "kpop songs everyone should know" by flowtaee. It's long but has many songs in it, gives a great overview and some funfacts and jokes on top. Twice is still very much popular in fact they are currently on a World Tour, they had SOLD OUT all their 7 shows in 5 venues in US, their upcoming concerts are also all SOLD OUT - 3 days in Tokyo Dome, Japan as well as their encore concert which will be held in a stadium in the US on May 14 is currently sold out on Ticketmaster. It had over 50K fans in the queue and it's expected to break revenue record among female groups in the country. The also added another date due to very high demand. Their songs are all so catchy & great to listen to, makes up my day all the time making them my favourite group. Please do react to Twice.

Blackpink are the queens of views they're unmatched

BTS is definitely worth checking out, they have a golden discography, and have broken through milestones no one has been able to achieve. They come from a very humbled past and have had to work their way to prove themselves as artists and their music is a reflection of them and who they want to be and also an encouragement to their fans to be the best they can be for themselves. BTS is definitely not the typical group in kpop or internationally. They have spoken up against social/societal issues in a time when no one else would. Which is why they gain so many fans despite not having a big company to promote them. Their success is 100% organic aka they have the ability to motivate a massive amount of people to support them. They have made history in korea, japan and US music industries. They have truly grown into a worldwide phenomenon.

Most idol groups back then wouldn't even dare to speak on such taboo topics lol. and besides bts have been.doing it consistently from the VERY beginning, even when their fanbase was nowhere as big as it is today. I feel like people need to properly give credit where credit is due. nowadays its very common to hear groups speak up on these topics but back in the early and mid 2010s? it was unheard of! And another big difference is bts would write these songs calling out society themselves. the same can't be said for other groups. and keep in mind half of bts members were still TEENS in their first couple of years when making these songs!! its these acts of courage, their love for music and especially music with meaning that truly sets bts on a completely different level.

@@jessicaroxsable yes, even before 2013 kpop artists were talking about societal issues. 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen and 4th gen all have groups that have done it. you can admit that you arent aware. just the year before EXO and B.A.P's debut were social criticism and B.A.P still continued with it years later. H.O.T, G.O.D, Shinhwa, Seotaji and Boys, Sunny Hill, Big Bang, TVXQ and not to mention solo idols and korean singers. H.O.T, the first idol group created, had some songs about societal issues and they debuted in 1996. I had already stated that BTS made it a main theme of their music, but they werent the first or only ones to make songs about social and societal issues.

fun fact for psy! he released some music in the couple years following gangnam style/gentleman but now mainly works as a ceo - he opened his own record label and has signed some pretty good artists including hyuna who you've seen before from this list! hes doing very well lol - also exo were reaalllyyyy big when they came out like they really were the most popular group ever in the few years after they debuted until bts blew up and kinda overtook everyone

Girls generation was actually called Korea’s girl group. They are ICONIC iconic.

This video is so outdated. BTS has six MVs with over 1 Billion views which are DNA, Boy with luv, Dynamite, Micdrop, Fake Love and Idol. And not only on KZread but BTS is not just kpop but most streamed band in the world on Spotify as well as itunes. They also have over 1 Billion streams on Spotify.

okay just to clarify, this video is based on the current views of the mv released on those years(meaning the views that is used is the current view count in 2020 and not the view count on the year it was released). To explain, it means that the mvs there are not necessarily the most viewed song of THOSE years. BTS for example is seen a lot, because they popped off and their fanbase eventually checked out their older stuff, which increased the views and therefore put into top 10 of releases of that year(in this vid). But if it was based on the actual views on that exact year, then they probably wouldn't be in top 10 until maybe 2017 or something, That is why the groups you see are all repeated, they are the groups that are popular CURRENTLY. So take that vid with a grain of salt since it isn't actually accurate. Also if i was gonna introduce EXO and Red velvet, It would be that they are the group with the best discography in kpop. all of these groups are incredibly popular in k-pop lol you’re unlikely to have heard of them if you’re just getting into more western known groups like bts and black pink like twice have been huge fir years and txt is doing numbers rn and exo was just as big as bts if not even bigger back in the day i was surprised you hadn’t heard of them also at 18:48 zico is a massive rapper in korea and jhope and suga are both in bts

So basically korean hiphop and r&b are kind of separate things than kpop itself (what I mean by kpop is kpop idol groups) but at the same time there is also a lot of collabs between those two worlds so it is getting mixed sometimes. There are kpop idols that for example switched to r&b or krap when they leaved their bands or debuted solo and Zico is one of them (he actually set up his own company). Korean rappers dont really like Idol korean rappers tho but some of them are exceptions and they are really respected (Zico, Bobby, B.I, Gdragon, Mino) If you want to do a korean rap and r&b marathon I would love to give you song recommendations. Maybe you'll choose smth. There's ofc more great stuff, I just put my faves. If you like kpop rap, you should listen to (G)I-DLE music, they was self-produce and they got the best female kpop rapper in the group (blatant best), but their mv got less views maybe because their mv not really that bright colors and gorgeous and neat dance, but their music was really good. Girls' Generation (aka SNSD) is still around! They debuted in 2007 and are approaching their 15th anniversary this 5th of August. The members have mostly been working on solo activities and the group hasn't made a group comeback since 2017 (excluding their subunit comeback in 2018), but they're still together. They're basically the TWICE of the late 2000's and early 2010's and are the first female group to formally earn the title of Nation's Girl Group, and I'm pretty sure their music video Gee! from 2009 became the first Kpop music video to reach 100 million views on KZread. They're truly iconic and a large percentage of girl groups nowadays look to them as role models and have even had to study them when training :)

blackpink started poping in 2016 dude blackpink even debuted in 2016 with the hit song"BOOMBAYAH" they were poping from the very first time they debuted and even before debuting JENNIE (member of blackpink) was as they called her the rookie monster even before her debut !!!!!

Also Ateez has some bangers but they are much more popular internationally than in korea. They are some great dancers too.

Sometimes when you see a group for the first time its either their debut year or its their first biggest biggest hit e.g. Mamamoo or Momoland or iKon or Red Velvet even though they've had big hits before its hard to crack hundreds of millions of views often and also the video has added views long after they've grown in popularity. BTS wasn't the biggest in their debut years, they were definitely a popular rookie group, but still very new - those views are post blowing up and people going back to rewatch.

1.Many Koreans have recognized the word K-pop since the late 2010s. There are singers in various fields, but I think it is K-pop in Korea that several members match the dance choreography. It was called an idol group. But now Korean music is called K-pop outside of Korea.

2.K-pop groups often break up in less than a decade in highly competitive regions in Korea. Some of them continue their solo careers. During the group's activities, some members do solo activities, collaborate with other artists, and participate in OSTs. LOL. You said new face in other reaction to BTS or other group member's solo. 3.The beginning of K-pop that started with Seo Taiji and Boys (1992). After BoA (2000) made her debut in Japan, K-pop left the small Korean market and targeted the Asian market. Some are trying to make inroads into the global market. After Psy's global popularity in 2012, Korean entertainers used KZread to expand their fandom around the world. K-pop fans, BLACKPINK and BTS, have become exponentially popular around the world.

Btw J-hope and SUGA are BTS members but chicken noodle soup is j-hope's solo song and doesn't have any connections to bts whereas J-hope's EGO and SUGA's SHADOW are part of BTS's album Map Of The Soul:7 which also has black swan and ON.

G-dragon is the leader of BIGBANG & labeled as King of Kpop honestly no one yet can beat G-dragon he is One of a Kind 😁

This video is outdated by now. Both BTS and BLACKPINK have at least 4 music videos with over 1 billion views. BLACKPINK even have a dance performance video with more than 1 billion views. Also, Ddu-Du Ddu-Du almost reach 2 billion views. 😃

And technically Fire has over 1 billion too but because it's uploaded to 2 different channels it doesn't count. Blackpink also have 6 with Ddu Du Ddu Du, Kill This Love, Boombayah, As If it's Your Last, How You Like That, and the How You Like That dance performance video.

Bts Exo Red Velvet twice and Blackpink are the most famous k-pop groups of 3rd gen.

I feel sorry to twice because there country listen to them but they don’t use KZread they use apps. Actually twice really popular and twice the only girl group didn’t sign with KZread.( they deleted the views if it was allot in one day , and sometimes stop counting and comeback after some hours) and if twice viewers freeze they didn’t back the number they freeze. They do it in just one time and but it back in dtna one hour they back 10 m views

For the record: SNSD is the acronym for Sonyeosidae, which is Girls' Generation's Korean name Taeyang and G-Dragon are members of Bigbang BTS debuted in 2013 with No More Dream, but didnt get popular until around 2015. Their early songs blew up later Psy released a new song a few months ago with Suga of BTS called That That I think BTS's music started declining after early 2020, but that's just me Yes, Twice are still a big thing

BTS debuted in 2013 as a hip hop idol group, although since then they have shown their versatility by spanning various genres. Their first MV is No More Dream followed by We are Bulletproof pt 2, both videos are in the top of that year. This top is really up to the full 2019 and the beginning of 2020. The BTS thing twice at the end is because they are two MVs of the same song, so they gave it only one place.

Twice is highest selling kpop girlgroup of all time, that too by a large margin, with 10m+ album sales.

If you love rapping a lot, then I recommend (G)I-Dle, their group leader, Soyeon, actualy can drop some Korean bars. My personal favorite was Lion, but there are a lot of other songs in the catalog that is actually amazing. Soyeon and by extension Miyeon got invited to do a few songs for another Kpop group called KDA as well, who are owned by Riot Games, the game developer behind League of Legends and Valorant. My personal underrated Kpop group with rapping involved is Omega X, with their debut song of the same name being my personal favorite as well.
