@Allonsyyyy They discussed it in SUGA's show - Suchwita - when he released Indigo because his title track was of traditional length. Even back then he said that he really didn't care about the charts and he obviously wanted to reiterate that statement, haha. RM is a poet at heart after all!

How I interpret it is that RM is lost, wandering the maze of life, in this life we are presented with different scenarios that are considered normal. Drinking with friends at a party, Having a wife and kid, Having a relationship thats unstable, having loving parents etc. All things that generally people consider as part of life. Except Namjoon is in those scenarios and he feels like he's the only one that doesn't belong. The album name being "Right place, Wrong person" this is what you are seeing. This is until he sees the woman who is also lost, he sees himself in her. He thought he was alone in this feeling but he finds someone he can relate to and he smiles because he knows that he's not really alone. Now in every scenario he is happy. He learns to enjoy life as it is in the present because he stopped seeking the life that he's supposed to have. This is further emphasized when he walks out of the door and out of the maze of rooms (maze of life) that was designed by society. He understands that he doesn't need to fit in a mold to be happy.

My interpretation was completely different... To me, it looked like lost love. No matter where he is, whatever he's doing, he's always sad, absent minded, thinking of his lost but true love... so much life happened after they got separated.. Still thinking of her, realised she's the one all he needs, only she can make him truly happy again... singing come back to me.. he hopes that she comes back and saves him from the maze of life that happened after losing her... And once she appears, that's when he smiles n laughs whole heartedly again, just one conversation with her made him able to function normally, talk to others, smile with others normally feels like he's free again, came out of the black hole. Everything is shown in reverse chronological order it seemed.. 5. Drinking with Friends, 4.Wife n child, 3.another gf (broke up) , 2.a hook up maybe (the girl dragging him into a room) to forget the break up.. 1.the gf of true love with whom he broke up.. So, whichever room he steps in, he wants to be with that one person, searching for her in all the rooms... He's always looking at one particular door with the 3 lights symbol, knocking the door, trying to find her, he's ending up in some other room. But every room is just right place, familiar place but the person is not that girl whom he's searching for. * Party (right place), random frnds making him smoke n drink( wrong person).. * Home (right place), wife (wrong person), * Childhood., parents house (right place), he feels like he doesn't belong there, makes them feel disappointed, himself being the(wrong person), * gf room (right place), that gf(wrong person).. He ended up with a wrong person searching for love after breakup. * everywhere he goes, he thinks of her, he feels like she is behind him.. When he turns back and finds himself..and sees her, that means they both are same, she's also feeling lost just like him.. Both are in same situation.. And when they met, that's when he feels alive again and be able to be smile n enjoy every moment with the hope that she's coming back to him. And when she finally comes back to him, he leaves everything behind and just go with her, she takes him out of all this mess of a maze..

I feel like everyone is missing that it’s the same woman in every scenario. I think the original commenter is correct. He feels like he’s the only one who’s lost and it makes each situation unbearable until he realizes she also feels that way and that can finally connect in a meaningful way. I don’t think she represents an actual person but, an overall connection to his life and participating in it rather than being an observer.

In In the Soop, Namjoon read the book The Midnight Library, which is about a woman who attempts suicide and then is given the opportunity to visit multiple versions of her life where she has made different choices to see if they are better than the original one. I think that ties in somehow as well.

RM = REAL MASTERPIERCE

Being able to witness Namjoon’s music change and grow with him as he slowly found himself, like we all do with age, has been one of the BEST things about following bts. God I truly feel HONORED he shares his art with us, and this song and video is just dripping with Joon’s personality. 💜

My interpretation is that this is RM's multiverse. I remember him referring in Festa that there are different RMs who could have been an office worker but he is lucky to be the RM of BTS. H e can be a party goer RM, a father RM, a baby RM or a kid RM hiding behind the plant The last one shows that his right place and the right time is with that lady in the end who showed him the door.... maybe represents Army because he is comfortable with her? 👀 At least that is what I hope it meant. 💜

Namjoon is such a poet. His lyricism is insanely good. He also uses the transitions from Hangul to English is such a brilliant way. I honestly think you should do a whole Indigo listen. In order that album tells such a story.

I was the same. I had to listen with my eyes closed, ignoring the MV to really ‘hear’ the song (unlike Wildflower, where I find the music and MV mesh completely and become a single experience).

My initial thought was "How dare you!!" My heart has such a visceral reaction to his latest music and lyrics. I cried to way too many songs on "Indigo," and I suspect that this album is also going to wreck me once i get a chance to listen to the whole thing. He does that magical thing that I feel only the best artists can do in that he writes songs that are very personal and introspective to himself but also manage to reasonate with other people perfectly.

I remember when he teased this at Yoongis (Suga/agustd) tour finally it’s here

“Wow, it goes on forever” I think that’s completely on the nose lol And an accurate a comment about the track as well as the MV… When it comes to the musical performance and production…. I think back to when RM mentioned the multiverse actually during their Festa 2022 dinner (something we all avoid for reasons…). he said that he often thinks about what if he wasn’t RM and just Kim Namjoon working an everyday office job, something along those lines, and then he remembers how he can’t think that way because he already made his choice and that was to be with us. He and the boys stuck it through all the rough patches and in every conflict the core reason for it is because Army is the essence of their lives and careers. They create music for us to give back for all they’ve achieved, but we know how exhausted they are and I’m sure they wonder ‘what if’ and ‘what could have been’ had they not become BTS. Side note; also referencing J-hope’s song ‘what if’ that also questions his sense of self. So, when he says “You don’t have to be the anything you see” I think back to that and I believe it’s his way of reminding himself that it’s okay to feel lost and like you’re falling behind. At the end of the day, you have yourself and you have to take stride in what you can control, not what you can’t control. After watching this MV multiple times, I just understand more where he’s coming from and I love him sm for always being so open with his poetry. Plus, the title of the album being “Right Place, Wrong Person’ just fits the vibe entirely. Missing our leader everyday 💜

Masterpiece from our Precious Leader as usual

For me this song is about his creativity. The women represent the creativity and his art. He had a hard time with it sometimes, due to the stress and the pressure that came with the success. Now during the break he found it again and can finally open this door again. It's such a great vibe this song. For me it seems like he found his happiness again and I am so happy for him. 💜 He always talked about the "pain of creating", that's why he sings "you are my pain". In my opinion it's related to Wildflower where he was lost in this storm and now he found his creativity again. In the mv you can see the different stages of his creativity during his career. In the beginning he was a baby (Suga is next to him symbolized by the tangarine on the pillow). The "parents" disappointed when he couldn't give them what they wanted. The fights, the running away. In the end he finds his creativity again in himself (when he changes to that woman). From this moment he is happy again and can finally walk out of the fake live. He talked in lives about how he is making music in a complete new way and he said at his performance on Sugas concert how important this song is for him. "I see you coming back to me". His creativity is finally back. 💜

It's about his journey of self-discovery...

My absolute favorite song by RM is definitely uhgood off of his second mixtape, Mono! It was my top song on spotify wrapped for many years in a row, one year i listened to it over 3,000 times lolol. The wordplay and deeper meaning of the song is incredibly good and has become a comfort song for me for many years, I hope you'll listen to it!

Namjoon was really taken by the film, Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the concept of what lives would we be living if we didn’t live in the life we have now. He mentioned it several times before he went into military service. I think this song is a reflection of his reflections on that concept. The idea of multiverse time lines is nothing new to BTS as the entirety of the Bangtan Universe-an arc concept that ran thru several of their earlier albums- was predicated on it. I’m very excited for his new album as RM’s growth as an artist has been one of the joys of being a OG ARMY. And that he no longer feels trapped as “the one who raps fast”. As the rock on which BTS has been built, Namjoon truly is a musical genius and I’m sure his new album Right Place, Wrong Person will be incredible.

So the woman he leaves with at the end, is the lead actor of a series called Pachinko (it’s really good, look it up). Also, not sure if there’s any significance here, but the three coloured round little windows in the door he’s trying to get through are RGB (red, green, blue), which colours can be used to create all other colours.

Thinking back on the last season of In the Soop, which is his variety show, Namjoon was reading the book Midnight Library and found many points where he could have inspired for the Mv

It's as if society imposes, (and it does impose) that we all have to go through the same things, being born, growing up, working, drinking, smoking, getting married, having children, etc., living within specific boxes and scenarios made for us to live in. in them, until some people manage to see the way out and do things differently. Nowadays, our society is more flexible (in Asia things still move at a slower pace), even though we still have a long and arduous road to live without restrictions, prejudices and judgments. I think this clip meant to say more or less that, the suffocation that one feels when living in a cage amid rules, but, when realizing that there is a way out, we can be happy even living within some stereotypes. RM is always perfect, in fact, what can we say about the members of BTS, they are 7 geniuses, together or separately, they only deliver masterpieces made with mastery...(Sorry for my bad english...lol)

I’m really impressed with your quick uptake of the storylines/concepts. A few years back, during one of BTS staycation reality shows, the book The Midnight Library was referred to quite a bit. The multiverse fits that books theme.

The Midnight Library is an easy good read and he’s revisiting moments in his life at the Library but in the case of the mv, the books are rooms. Check it out.

"Thought provoking dilemma"... That describes Namjoon's lyrical writing perfectly. So many ways to look at his meaning. And just when you think you have latched on to it - another possibility occurs to you. Because no matter the intention when he wrote it, we will always view it through the lens of our own experiences. And that's okay. That's natural. And it means we will all come up with our own ideas, and they are all valid. I have always thought a song has AT LEAST three meanings. The meaning born from the writers thoughts; the meaning conveyed in the MV; and the meaning we give to it ourselves. While not my favourite RM song, iit is still a great song, and t is growing on me each time I hear it. And I am looking forward to Right Place, Wrong Person when it is released. As for RM recommendations - Moonchild has always been a personal favourite of mine. Then there is Do You, and more recently, Still Live. Also the songs Seoul, and Tokyo are great too. Then there is the masterpiece that is Joke... Or Forever Rain; or Bicycle; Badbye; Change, with Wale; PTD (Please Don't Die).... Yeah You get the idea. Also for an up to date guide to BTS, Purple Snow just released a new, and very good, A Long And Helpful Guide To BTS (2024). It was released 10 May 2024, and is 2:18:08 long (she warns you in the title, lol), but it is worth it, and it's the most up-to-date, quality, guide out there.

I think it's self internalization. Finding oneself, in contrast to feeling imposter syndrome all the time, so that one can enjoy being in different stages of one's life.

Running through the maze, he cannot seem to open one door, a door that might symbolize his self-awareness and acceptance. Until he chance upon Minha, his other self. As you may notice in a few parts of the music video, Minha was running through the maze looking for Namjoon. Until it transitions that Namjoon becomes her.

Watch INDIGO from start to finish every track a different genre. Genius selection of collaborators like ERYKAH BADU , ANDERSON PAAK, YOUJEEN, PAUL BLANCO etc.

I love the layers of romantic love and self-love in the song & MV. That moment when he turns around and the camera pans from him to himself seems to be a moment of self-discovery and the start of his new happiness. To me, that small smile is him accepting and valuing himself. And when the camera pans back and is the girl, I see that as him finding companionship and future love with her because he's already become more comfortable with and loving of himself. He's "come back" to who he is, and so he's also ready for her to "come back" as well.

We actually got to hear him do this live nearly a year ago at Agust D (Sugas) DDay concert, so is kinda crazy that we could sing along to it watching it the first time today!!

RM's music so diverse and I enjoy every different style he puts out. (your quiet "daddy" LOL) The melody of this song reminds me of Bicycle both I feel like I can listen to when I'm wandering around/riding a bike. I think i got the message/story in the MV but may I get official explanation from RM (I dont have high IQ as him to get all the meaning behind XDD) Some of my favourites that you can check out: Monster, Persona, Bicycle, Still Life

Interpretation: RM feels out of place, unhappy, "wrong person" on every scenario (be it different worlds, different moments in his life, or different sides in his same life) because he hasn't been able to open the door yet. He was only happy after knowing himself (the last woman), then he never felt weird in any scenario (world or moment) because he now knows and loves himself. That's when he was finally able to open the door since he was complete (his "masculine" and "feminine" self; which from Jung's theory I believe), and we are then shown different possibilities he can go into - and it doesn't matter which one he enters, he will finally feel in the right place, because he is "right person" Based on: him constantly looking at the door or trying to open it without success; him changing sides with the last woman; RM has already done songs based on Jung's personality theory

Joon injured his brow/eye during filming when he was nicked by a camera. He got stitches and came back same day to continue filming. True artist. 💜

This is perfect for the rainy weather we're having here. The guitar intro - the chord progression reminds me of a John Mayer song. I can't quite place which one at the moment. Overall I like the song, it has a chill vibe.

I have heard 'multiverse' from other reactors as well - so one of the aspects does seem to possibly be that. Credit to an ARMY who said that RM could well be alluding or referring to "happiness...come back to me" - and towards the end of the MV, it might well have been! Before the song came out, his agency did explain a bit about the song, so that might be good as a heads up as well. There will be 5 MVs out of his 11-song album. We try not to laugh about this injury, but he is known as, "The God of Distruction" ...He tends to be a bit clumsy and is always breaking things by accident. 😅

@@Allonsyyyy the rule is so that the YT algorithm would be "programmed" to show the MV first when people search the song title. If a reaction vid goes viral/is very popular the 1st day after release the algorithm might show that reaction vid before the actual MV when searched.

Honesty there are some many amazing songs to watch but recommendations today are: Suga and PSY collab ‘That That’ this song will without a doubt make you happy. Also there is a South Korean Indie Rock group called The Rose who are just brilliant. I suggest you listen to ‘Back to Me, You’re Beautiful and Alive’ to start.
