Chris Stapleton (and his wife Morgane) may be classified as country, but I generally get a more blues feeling from his songs rather than straight country or even modern country. You can pick anything at all to react to from him, they're all good, but my suggestion is to stick to the live performances rather than the recording studio. The recording studio tends to smooth out this slight scratchiness in his voice that is just beautiful. He just performed "Cold" at the 2022 Grammys if you're interested.

Even if it wasn’t about my home state, I love his song “Arkansas.” Chris doing Southern rock-and still bringing the stank face-while giving a shout out to an underappreciated little state that he happened to spend a long weekend driving across. There’s a great live version from last year‘s CMT awards with no live crowd, just the band set up outdoors- social distancing!

Even though that CMA crowd didn’t know Justin’s song “drink you away” like all of them knew “Tennessee whiskey” by heart, it obviously won over the crowd! I personally thought “drink you away” was actually the better performance, imho.
