Today we are unboxing a new model from a Belfast brand Nomadic. Their expedition and explorer type watch called Turas, which is a befiting name as it translates to journey or expedition in Irish.
The 914 represents the xxxxx of the 1914 antarctic epxedition of the SS Endurance and the crews toughness and not giving up spirit as they were stuck in ice with the ship eventually sinking. Despite all odds, they managed to survive and after years of being left for dead, returned home. their Captains family moto "THROUGH ENDURANCE WE CONQUER. TOGETHER, WE MAKE PROGRESS." is engraved on the caseback.
Sized at 39mm in diamater and just 11mm thick, it makes for a wonderful everyday wear watch that will fit almost every size wrist.
The watch is powered by a regulated Sellita SW200 and the watch comes with a lifetime warranty IF you send the watch in for service every 5 years, something we don't see often!
The bracelet is pretty much perfect as it features solid link, solid female end links, and a machined clasp with on the fly adjustment.
The whole package is priced at $1.265 which is quite a lot for a simple time only microbrands, but given the regulation and unique warranty as well as really good build quality, I think it is justified, not to mention it is assembled in Belfast, instead of the more common China.
As usual, stay tuned for the full review

Hour hand could be a bit longer but not too bad.

Has anyone mentioned hand length? 😆

I like it but I can get an AliEx watch with similar specs and finishing and an SW200 (which I cay easily regulate myself) for 1/4 the price.

Very cool watch, and the price isn't too bad. I think the numerals should be applied, and it would look better on a nato or leather strap. Thanks for the revue.

Yes, I get that the hands are a bit short, but why isn't it the Turas 1914 if the idea is to commemorate the Shackleton expedition? Not too bad looking, though, and a nice review. Cheers 🍻!

Yeah it is. This green is a limited edition. The white and black colors looks better, like the grand seiko birch dials

Can anyone explain the point of short minute hands? Why is this common on dive watches, is it supposed to be more legible? To me it makes legibility worse.

Actually, showing the watch in direct light rather than ambient light made me reset my evaluation of it's proportions... Initially I've been feeling like they are off

My guess before watching the video or reading comments is the hands. Theyre way too short...

My guess is the stubby, little hands. There's a Casio 556A hommage on the desk beside me; even it has a better looking hand set. :-/

I'm not falling for that hustle that it has a lifetime warranty if you send it in for service every 5 years. That's what I call a money grab.
