When people ask about what I’m getting ready to do they always say endless vacation. My response is no, I’m just going to live in different places a month at a time. Living is not vacation. Great example.

So tired of the general comment “whatever you do at home since we aren’t on vacation.” When you work full time and are planning to travel full time, it’s a huge shift that is hard to anticipate. A typical retirement day for us in the UK is Hubby spends the 1st 2 hours of the day reading the papers and researching financial articles online because he manages our SIP (pension) investments and makes notes for when he’s updating our share portfolio. I spend that time on social media and managing our social life/engagements. We both shower then I practise my Saxophone….and we go our seperate ways until dinner time.

Helpful tip: Always check your windshield wipers for cats. (11:00 mark or so). 😀😀😀 I've definitely noticed the different take in various parts of the world on the same foods. I actually think I prefer the Greek version of spaghetti bolognese since it's more peppery and not as tart. Great helpful info as always.

Great video! It's really helpful to let people see what a normal day looks like when you live a nomadic life. It's not all sightseeing and doing the touristy things, which I have trouble explaining to family and friends. It's simply regular living...just someplace else. That area of Antalya looks really nice. I stayed near the center of town when I was there, but I think I will try the area you were in next time I go there. Migros was my favorite grocery store in Turkey! Cheers!

Another great video! We love slower travels as retirees. I love exploring grocery stores wherever we go and have the essentials list whenever we arrive in country. Hi there! I've missed coming here to your channel. I don't like using the excuse that I've been busy, but hey, it's true. My family and I also have a You Tube channel, so we stay busy with that. I really liked this video you both did! So many great nuggets of info as to what to expect in a nomadic life. My favorite part was at the grocery store; it's always intriguing to see what food items are available in different parts of the world. Great heads up on the laundry situation at certain locations, too. When I was in Turkey on a tour, someone asked our tour guide who all the cats belonged to. He replied that the cats don't belong to anybody, they belong to everybody.

It was fantastic to see your day-to-day. Many of the elements are similar to the routine into which I am settling, after two and a half months on the road. Just hung up a load of laundry in the cool Athens evening! My biggest difference is that I have to get in the exercise first thing in the morning or I will run out of time for it, later in the day.

Some great insight and advice everyone should watch before full-time traveling! The only advice I have for Brian is take a backpack to the grocery store to easily carry more beverages home! 🍻 I didn't think of this until 3 months in of full-time traveling. Especially helped when we had some far walks to the stores. - Chris

Great suggestion about checking utensils when you arrive at your lodging. I was just in an AirBnb for Thanksgiving in the US, and family members had to go to my kid's college housing to grate lemons to make lemon zest because the AirBnB had no grater in the kitchen. I didn't think to check for this when we arrived a few days earlier.

That is a common one to not have. We are lucky enough to have one in our current Airbnb. You just never know!!

Minnie and I just watched your video .. We are doing similar meals. We now carry on our pepper, salt, oregano, cinnamon, garlic powder, and onion powder. We buy curry and use it up.. We started Virgin River on Netflix. Wheel of time on prime. (Lord of the rings) ish. If you're back it's frozen in Spokane today. Happy Thanksgiving and happy holidays. We head to Mexico this Friday for 18 days... Before Christmas then January we head back to the South Pacific. Cheers. Thank you again for your videos. Larry and Minnie. Stir fry! That's what I'm making tonight :) I have rice to use up. Here in Cefalu (yep-still here lol) we found a grocery store nearby that has roast chickens for 4Euro. Then I make soup. Love the video guys. Cheers!

We love your videos! We have been nomads for 7.5 months now and don't see it ending. We seem to travel similarly. Thank you for what you do. I am a coffee drinker and travel with a Stanley Classic Travel French Press. I buy local ground coffee - it is much better than instant. The thermos keeps coffee hot for couple hours, then keeps ice for water for half a day! It can be heavy but I use it as a daily water bottle. Keep up your good travels.

That is a good way to get good coffee. We travel with carry-on only, so it is difficult to take anything extra. With our camera gear and laptops, we don't have any extra room. The small sacrifices we make! 😄 Thank you for watching and commenting!! Cheers!!🍻

Interesting to see the food/grocery info - thx for answering my questions about it! And I rely on those meals as well! 😃 I also have a big pot of veg soup in the fridge most of the time, so easy to reheat for a quick filling meal, and since I add beans it’s really filling. I’m with you on the homemade Mexican seasoning, but think I could get by with cumin and some sort of chili powder? Translating the labels would def add to time to the grocery visit, never thought about that! 🤔 I don’t think I’ve seen any other normal-nomad-day vid on the other channels I watch, so this was GREAT! Normal life, just a different place. Netflix: the original Money Heist is the best thing I’ve watched in a very long time!! The English dubbing is great, nothing like the old karate movies I grew up on. 😂 Loved it so much I watched it again last month. Also highly recommend a new one, ‘Who is Erin Carter?’ It’s a limited series, but the ending makes it seem like there could very well be more, hopefully. Mission Impossible 1-4 are up right now, also the two Anchoman movies, 2 seasons of Lincoln Lawyer, and I HIGHLY recommend Hustle if you’ve not seen it!! Love old-school SNL Opera Man and Adam Sandler’s sweet countenance in interviews, but not necessarily most of his movies, but Hustle is freaking amazing IMO. And have to finish with my favorite set of all time, Jason Bourne ❤ - I’ll watch and rewatch every one any time they’re available. 😉 Just call me Gene Siskel! (EDIT: oops on the overwhelming exclamation points and emoji. Evidently I’ve had enough caffeine… teehee)

I think that this is an invaluable video. At a time of Instagram and TikTok and videos showing all the glamourous and remarkable places that you have been, you are showing a regular day-in-the-life. You aren't tourists. You are living, and that means washing clothes, doing dishes, getting ingredients and doing some work and catching up on world events. For Brian it means not washing bed-head before reading the news and sports items (ahem, the Seattle Kraken now a team you should follow)! But the real helpful hints about how to deal with ingredients in foreign languages is so true. Travelling light means not hauling around half a suitcase of spices. And cooking utensils. I would expect that you also get local in season produce when in places too. Portugal in May had local oranges and cherries that were amazing! When near the ocean, I would foresee local fresh caught fish. Interesting that you don't shop together but separately at grocery. You each have executive power in those decisions. Cheers to both.

It's often very different than what many anticipate. It's everyday living most days, just somewhere else. I know the separate shopping to many may seem strange. But we snack and drink VERY different, so it just works well for us to shop separate for those things. But then we do eat dinner the same typically. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers!!

Who doesn't like free tips! You nailed this one, guys. Ah', Salt and Pepper. I'm a little fussy, so it's got to be Himalayan pink rock salt in the grinders. Not exactly practical to carry around in a suitcase, hence it stings the hip pocket again and again. Oh' and then there's the coconut oil. Great video except for the instant coffee...hahahaha... we cannot do that one and have been traveling with a French press. It is very interesting to see how we all have our own little preferences. Seems as though Airbnb would offer a suggested list of things to provide for smooth stays. Also, the hosts should have a check list for the cleaners to review. More than once, there's only been one glass or coffee mug.

Great content. We do very much the same while traveling. What’s up with the Nescafé everywhere. I’m able to choke it down but it’s no Seattle style brew. Just returned from Buenos Aires. Highly recommend. The American dollar has great buying power currently. $9 hour massage, $7 pedicures, $4 haircuts etc. Keep up the great work!

Wow! Things are somewhat different here in Mexico. There are very rarely any ovens here, but we always have a microwave, coffee maker, salt/pepper and some oil. One place didn’t have a coffee maker and we asked the host about it and he brought one over the next day. My husband was very happy. 😉 We also have only done laundry a couple of times, and that was the first month we were here, because that Airbnb had a washer and dryer. All the other ones we’ve been at have not had any laundry equipment. However, it is so affordable here to take your clothes to a lavenderia (laundromat) and have someone do it for you! 😁 We follow basically the same grocery store habits as y’all. Eggs and cheese are a must. Meat or poultry is questionable, unless we have a chain store nearby. I would never buy meat at a market here. 😬 I just finished watching a series on Netflix called ‘All the light we cannot see’. I thought it was great! It’s only 4 episodes long and has Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo in it. One tip: have some tissues handy. 😉 Thanks for another informative video! Hope to meet up with y’all someday. Safe travels.

We laughed about how similar our travel life is to yours. We get our beer close to our Airbnb. Tacos are a go too meal for us too. I pack Old El Paso Hot & Spicy seasoning packs with us, 1 pack per week.

Great video and very informative.... I like how you do a day on and day off re chores and sights etc. Thinking that afternoon drinks do need to be maintained as a daily ritual to ensure good mental health and maintain social engagement with the community which is very important 😏🤭 🤣 Do you guys venture out past the town you are in? As in go on day trips to places of interest that may be nearby. Or even go further afield for a day or two to see a place that you may want to see but may not necessarily want to do a full detour to see? Hope that makes sense? We will have our own transport so we may do a bit more of that but unsure at the moment. Weighing options up.

I wouldn't say it's boring...just real life. I hope you do a video on logistics, like how far ahead you're booking AirBnBs and flights. Are you booking RT or one way from/to the US? Sometimes one way international flights are almost as much as a RT ticket and open jaw tickets can sometimes be a little complicated to buy.

I recently re discovered it’s always Sunny in Philadelphia. I started and stopped it 15+ years ago bc back then I thought it was too stupid. Now in my dotage I love funny stupid stuff. 😂 Not all episodes hit it out of the park but I love I’m only in season 2 of 16 seasons.

Great tips for folks, guys. I've been in the same types of situations over the decades when either staying overseas in a serviced apartment, a rented apartment, or an AirBnb which came later since Airbnb wasn't established until 2008 up in San Francisco. But, prior to Airbnb, there were lots of other rental sites. Whenever I'm going to be in a rental, I take my supplies with me, especially kitchen ones. I never leave home without a packed dish brush, my own knife, fork, and spoon (2 of each), a knife with ridges to cut bread, chopsticks, two hard-plastic cups as they can also serve as bowls for soup or cereal, a manual can opener/bottle opener, a small spatula, one of my small toiletry bottles filled with dishwashing liquid, and a few other items. I pack it all in a travel zip-pouch style bag and the items are always packed ready to go. I just toss the zip-pouch bag into my suitcase. I have been in some places where I have walked into a kitchen and there were only a couple of plates and a pot. Go figure. Depending on the trip and length of stay in places, I would also pack a small fry pan like the one that you were cooking eggs in as that wasn't even provided. I don't travel carry-on only though in those situations, so I have more space to pack more of my kitchen necessities and don't have to deal with restrictions of what one can take onto a plane or can't take onto a plane. As for spices, that's usually a problem. I love my spices and here at home have over 70 jars of spices. In rentals, even the availability of salt, pepper, and oil is usually a problem and who wants to constantly buy them and then have to leave them behind, before moving on to the next destination? It can get expensive. But, if one has checked baggage, one can take along a small bottle of oil. It's a good idea that when one is at home and eating out at places where small packets of ketchup, soy sauce, salt, pepper, etc are provided to just save them, toss them into a ziplock bag, and then when you're ready to go on an overseas trip, take them with you. Plus, one can actually buy tiny bottles and packets of items at places like WM as I was just in WM a few days ago and they had tons of items, even tabasco sauce in tiny bottles. Food condiments come in tiny packaging just like toiletries do. What one packs and how one packs depends a lot on where one is going and how long one plans to stay in each place if staying in apartments or houses. I had to laugh on the stir fry situation as I have lived a lot of stir fry days while in rentals overseas. LOL! In Bangkok, I would go to the supermarkets and stack up on noodle packages and then usually toss out the included seasoning packet as it was both very salty and also usually contained MSG. I'd then stir fry my vegetables and some fish and add the plain noodle block and a little water and had lunch or dinner. Wherever you are in the world at present, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. Smiles. Now to get on to the long list of other vlogs that have popped up to watch. Scary. When I first traveled to Asia many years ago, I had the hardest time finding a grocery store. It took me awhile to realize they are usually located on the lower level of shopping malls, not at street level as in the US.

Even though you're not typical tourists, I would make time in the afternoon to see some of the local sights. If I want to live the same as I do in the US, I'd just stay home. After going to 40 countries, I can really say there is nothing left on my travel bucket list.

We do have an interest in doing some more adventurous activities like what you describe. We are still budget travelers so need to save and plan for any "extra" excursions that may cost more than we would normally spend. We have done a few and do plan on doing more, hopefully soon! From my experience in European Airbnb's is that when there is only one machine for laundry, its a washer/dryer combo unit. Both cycles are slow usually 2.5-3 hrs per, so only one load a day.

In over two years of traveling Europe, we have never been lucky enough to get a washer/dryer combo!! We have always had to hang dry. 🙄

We have also been to places with pod machines and have no idea which ones to buy. The go-to that we find everywhere is Nescafe.
