Nokta Makro Legend Vs. Equinox In Trashy Park: Finally Stumped

We take the new Nokta Makro Legend to a trashy park in Brooklyn to square off vs. the Minelab Equinox. We match signals until the Legend is stumped. But don't read or interpret this the wrong way. The Legend did fine! ‪@NoktaEngineering‬

Thanks for your video again :). I'm of the opinion that the most important bit about a detector is the person using it, then how well they know their detector. To some extent then it is personal preference - although some detectors have an edge in different places (so why I have Deus 1 and a Nox 800). I do get the price sensitivity, build quality and customer service as well :) It'll be interesting to see what people are using in a few years, as we've all seen the latest and greatest come and go...

I’m very impressed with this video. The first good test I’ve seen with the Legend being used in a very trashy park. I use to have the same religious pendant the other guy found. A gift I received about 1967/68. Great video and looking forward to more with the Legend.

You need to take into account that once you’ve dug on a signal. You’ve now just broke the magnetic bubble that the undisturbed coin had created. Yes it interests me also that the Legend didn’t pick it up as easy as the Nox perhaps the iron bias would help solve that issue. I’m having nice results using the 6” coil now. Haven’t tried the 11 yet.

When that dog came into play, Remembering I was detecting in the woods along a trail at Mohawk State Park out of Cornwall, Ct. I was on all 4's digging out a coin, when all of a sudden, I was nose to nose with this Brown/White Great Dane and we were both looking down seeing what's what? in the hole I had dug, there simply was no time to be scared I looked up a little and saw a lady walking the trail. Even with my headphones on down on all 4's in a thicket that dog heard my beeps from my AT-Pro and came a running to investigate, and it's not the first time its happened. With my machine when I hear iron masked with a good target I dig and once or twice a good target quarter I hit the iron audio and hear iron its a screw-top usually...I love those small coils 6'' and the Elliptical 7x6 coil. Good job you guys..

The Legend looks solid Merrill, great vid BTW. The Legend is behaving like a Minelab with too much iron bias, perhaps you can fiddle with it after the update. I don't hunt parks with my 800, just old colonial sights, no modern trash so it's easy. No iron bias, 5 recovery, and all metal lets you hear the iron and grabs the coins and relics that aren't completely masked. But you park hunting guys are good !!

I have a similar situation with my equinox 800 vs my Deus 2, the Nox will high tone on deep iron but I get a grunt as I pull off where the Deus 2 gives me a fairly clear ( sweet) 85 to 87 that leads me to believe it’s none Ferris. I’m hoping XP puts out an update for that issue. We have several large colonial farm permissions that are covered with square nails and other s**t but they produce great coins and relics dating back the the 1700’s. Anyway, great video guys. I think for me I have so many hours into the Equinox I'd really have to see some major competitive advantage to switch. Everything being equal you are best with the machine you know. I was a pro with the AT Pro and AT Max, but once I realized that the multi frequency eliminated so much falsing that you get with the AT Pro and Max I was in. I was right I was missing items, because of the falsing. Plus beaches!!! You knew there were separation issues before you bought it. I guess you were just hoping the air tests were false?

Great vid sir. you have to be careful with gb tracking as you can end up losing a buried item if the detector ground balances on it, aka ghost signal. iron balance in my opinion is set quite high on the legend so the iron bias update will let us lower that, there fore less masking of item , and even better performance amongst the iron. p.s you was swinging over from a different angle when comparing that target to the nox lol That pendant was a beautiful thing, as was the silvers, dropping your tone break back to 8 would of got that stumped silver signal keep well 🙏 new sub here

You are missing out on many good targets if you don't dig the "deep" repeatable signals, no matter what the target ID is showing. To me, the depth is the most important factor in determing what targets to retrieve, followed by the repeatable signal.

I have the Legend and Equinox. With factory settings, I have found the Legend misses small bits that the Minelab sees easily. I mentioned this on some groups, and they say, "Oh, you need to program special settings". After what...5 software updates, I still do NOT trust it like my Equinox. Just my two cents, but I'm hearing the silver fine with the Legend in the video, it just needs to be a lower swing. The NOX 800 recovery being faster helps the sound, but I think if you were to use less of a swing, more isolated to the target, you'd get the silver just fine.

You can swing the 6/800 a lot faster and still get reliable signals. Imho, the 800 is the pick of the $1k detectors ATM, despite what some may say about its build quality.

These are what open up a machine like the Legend and let you get a lot more from what it does. This machine sucks good responses up out of the junk very, very well.

Greetings fro Texas. I know you use lots of detectors. It’s been a good while since you’ve got the legend. In your opinion how does the legend fare with the equinox? What’s your opinion on the simplex vs legend vs equinox ? My girlfriend wants a detector, so thinking about getting a legend, or an equinox. Is there a noticeable difference between the top tier machines and the simplex?

Deep hot program* Use deep hc as the base Disc 5.8 Sens 92 Full tone Iron vol. 1 Reactivity 2.5 in trash, 2 in the open Silencer 0 Audio resp 4 I dig everything 89 and above unless relic hunting. You will hear everything in the soil listen for the high tones and the faint squeaks you want to stay away from the obnoxiously loud tones as they are usually surface trash. I hunt in this program 95% of the time and kills the equinox in iron.

@@stevegeiner3986 I'm swinging the 11 also. The program is very dynamic and it's sound if you're looking for mid-tones just pay attention to the clear tones that don't have a trail when you pull the coil off otherwise dig everything 89 and above especially when you get into the iron fields in the trash this thing is a beast this has helped me find many many coins in areas that my equinox missed because of the pollution. And it's deep too just don't get caught up in the obnoxiously loud signals pay attention to the faint and quiet signals that are high pitched

Nice review. Comparing price is all subjective. If you base it on money alone that's a huge mistake. If you buy a detector at a lower price because that is what you can afford than that is just fine. On the other side of the coin if you buy an expensive detector and it does not do a good job then you've wasted money. For me a detector is "worth it" if... A. It finds better items more consistently. B. It saves time via accuracy/pinpointing C. It works better in adverse conditions. So if the nokta does all this but the knox does it a little better resulting in 1more good find every two weeks in 5% less time.. That's 26 more good finds a year and 40 hours less swing time... Same applies going from a Knox to a Deus 2. So what is 20 or 40 more targets worth? Price is not the main factor time and finds are... At least for me. I tell all new people that "you grow into this hobby". Buy the very best you can afford, and while your deciding if this hobby is for you (as you learn how to detect) learn what you want when you upgrade... IMHO Ps. Where did Jeff get the pants? What brand are they? They look pretty good, most I I have seen are pretty ugly.

My concern with your scoop is how secure it will attach to a handle. Although I am far from an expert, it appears to me placing a bolt or screw into the handle will produce a breaking point in the handle. Good Luck in your venture! I like the wide bowl shaped bottom

Most scoops have the very same handle lockup, carbon fiber made with hole to match. If you use wood drill the hole, use quality stock and if used on beach no worries at all unless you just break stuff!? I used a broom handle on a dune kraken with zero issues for a good while.

Once you shortened you swing on the sweet spot it was pretty decent, the same thing the dude with the NOX did.
