Where To Metal Detect: How To Pick Great Sites

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Where To Metal Detect? Will you ever get a straight answer from another metal detectorist? This is a tutorial for new metal detectorists. Perhaps some professional development for veteran detectorists. This is how I pick places to metal detect.

Hi, my name is Merrill Kazanjian. New York City is an amazing place to go metal detecting. We have lots of parks, colonial history and great beaches for beach detecting. I have gone to all five boroughs of New York City To Metal Detect and beyond. I also currently own 16 metal detectors. I want to have the best and I want to help you choose the best as well. By word of mouth I heard from an old timer that there used to be an old dumping ground for the town I live in. So far we’ve found some old glass bottles. I just got a metal detector yesterday and I’m excited to go out and explore it. So far in an hour my daughter and I have dug up half the backyard🤣🤭 we found part of an old sink and some cans and a piece of metal pipe. So much fun. Thank you for the website tip.

I do have some success with sod, for a few reasons. I’m renting on a site that has sod placed in 2015 and it’s manicured with every chemical plus irrigation. The dirt was certainly mixed around. I found a 10 year old can 1 ft down, but I find shotgun shells from more than 60 years ago near the surface. 4” down I found a brass black powder flask from before 1870. The sod comes up in a solid piece allowing me to place the plug back very neatly. Most of the time. 2 coins on the whole site, but lots of old hinges etc.

If you find "camp lead", could be a central fire for a small group, or one of many spread around a much larger area. Flag the find (bundles of flagging material are fairly cheap by the hundred) and use a spiral pattern outwards... if you find another camp lead spot and mark it also. Now you just might be in a hot spot, especially if you are in civil war territory. Not too many modern examples of camp lead unless you are in a location that regularly hosts reenactments that really stay true to making your own 50cal bullets.
