In watching your videos, I'm surprised how easy the Lumia 1020 comes apart, at least compared to the 920. The 920 was a nightmare for me. EDIT: 900 = 920, whoops.

Is it possible to replace just the glass on the 1020 ?

  • @nemnoton

Why is it important to remove the remaining adhesive from the frame? On my device, most of the remaining glue was on the glass. I tried to scrape it off, but then some off the black color came off from the surface. It resulted in transparent scrape marks. I'm currently thinking about trying to fill those areas with a black pencil. By the way , I bought my lcd on ebay, it seemed to be great, but apparently it was badly glued and it loosened just two months later.

My capacitive buttons are not working. Should I replace the digitizer or touch screen itself?

Hi there, I have a Lumia 1020 with cracked glass only, I want to try replaying the glass myself (nothing to lose), I can get the glass, LOCA for maybe $30 where as a new LCD + glass can cost a $200. My questions are, I suppose general. 1. Do I need an alignment mould ? ( having trouble finding one for this phone. 2. Does LOCA need UV light to cure ? and will any cheap UV light \ torch ect do it ? I`m happy to give it a go, if I stuff it up I`ll just have to go for the pre-assembled screen option. I checked with lots of local mobile phone repair shops, none of them offer glass only replacement . . . . . they all off the glass with screen option, for $250 +, seems they don't like tricky work :-)

Hi, thanks for the video, its been very informative! Would you know where I could purchase Evo-stik Serious glue? Or are there any other brands which I could use as a replacement to Evo-stik that I could find at any hardware store? Thanks!

Evo-Stik Serious Glue is a Modified Silane Polymer based adhesive. There might be some alternatives but I don't' know what they might be. I think it might be sold under a different name in other countries

Hello, I have a 1020 with a cracked glass, but the toch panel is working normally and the LCD screen (under the glass) seems fine. Is it possible to change only the glass? I may be mistaken but it seems that the glass and the screen are glued together ...

  • @LE55ONS

yes the glass and the display are bonded together with an optical adhesive, if you search for 'lumia 1020 glass replacement' you'll find a few videos showing how it can be done

r341f4d3 you could try leaving an airgap and use double sided tape around the edge or there's a few video showing the use of LOCA to bond the new screen in place

Samsung s4: no wifi and bluetooth even after format and update of OS: can be antenna's problem? Samsung note2: crazy phone like there is a devil inside, it does everything by himself, probably motherboard gone? i want to order pieces from etradesuppy that's why i ask thank for help!!!!;) cheers

for wifi and bluetooth of s4 iw as thinkin to buy a new antenna wire and new rear housing while for s3 a new ear speaker flex cable ribbon and new loud speaker module

rafficip S3, its worth trying a new earpiece flex but it might not stop the problem. S4, I doubt fitting a new antenna will make much difference. You would still get wifi without an antenna if the router was nearby. Its probably the wifi chip that needs replacing. Note 2, if you've tried different roms then it probably is the mainboard gone..

hi and thanks for answer, so for s3 i buy both flex cable and loud speaker? wifi chip is not possible to change it by myself? but it's strange cause wifi worked then i did the update (180 mb downloaded with wifi) and then gone... thanks

rafficip unless the loud speaker has problems I would just try another earpiece flex, try installing a different rom using odin
