#NoFilter | The Unplugged Project
Taking selfies has become a very common thing today. But do we really see what happens underneath these snaps when they become more than just a picture?
#NoFilter explores the side of self-pictures that we don’t really want to deal with - the side that makes us more self-conscious, the side that makes many people and young ones start defining their image by the amount of likes that they get.
There’s nothing wrong about snapping a picture. But when it starts defining who you are, maybe its time to check who’s capturing who.
Tell us your stories “Unplugged” stories and use the hashtag #theunpluggedproject - and we’d love to compile all your experiences. Be it you or someone else, share something that might be an encouragement to somebody else out there!
---
“The Unplugged Project” explores 4 different, unique stories for each episode but having a synonymous theme of the need to use technology wisely and be unplugged every once in a while.
“The Unplugged Project” is an original collaboration between TheMingThing and Digi. 100% created and produced by TheMingThing - it is a new take on the web series format with our friends at Digi supporting the good message it conveys. They believe that instead of being antisocial with technology, nobody should be alone when we can be together.
A special shout out to Digi to be the first ever team to be a part of something we're doing and supporting it so tremendously!

Selfies by themselves are definitely not a bad thing. But what happens when we start obsessing over them? What do you think - are selfies a good or bad thing? Tell us in the comments and share your story!

selfie. ? it may be bad because you forget people all around you especially when you going out with your love ones, unless if you going out alone and you keep on taking selfie, thats different.. and when you want to take selfie with your partner, you want them to be perfect in the pic and sometimes you get so frustrated because the pics are not perfect.. after you taking selfie, you take your time to edit those photo, and when choosing one perfect filter can take years(joking) and then you need to think what caption you should put for that pic and when you done, you wait for people to like..aiyooo..

This is so good. It shows how most people tend to take the amount of likes on their photo as an affirmation of whether they are socially accepted, and though I must say, the world is like this - no matter how often people say "it's the inside that counts", it's human nature to be attracted to the beauty on the outside. However it really shouldn't define who we are as a person. We are made so much more than that. Always waiting to see more new videos! Keep it up :)

its scary how social media slowly makes us being insecure abt ourselves. ie. how ppl will perceive us upon looking at our pics. i miss those days when not a single film should be wasted, cause we cant delete them :D

This is so true. People nowadays define their popularity and looks on how many likes they get, how popular they are and forgets their actual looks and personality. It's really sad what social medias are doing to us.

I feel that we (teenagers and young children) define how cool, popular and our look on the numbers of likes we have on our posts and selfies. Everyone should cherish their body! Like even though I'm fat, I still love myself for who I am! So please, everyone, be who you are, and not who everyone else wants you to be

The selfie culture is well represented in this video and has sprouted and taken its roots already in our society. My take on it is to just have fun, like who you are for yourself and take it without worry

This is so true. Many people (Not Denying myself as well) are becoming more and more self-conscious and afraid of Judgement should they post an "UnGlamorous" picture, Drawing Judgement from God-knows-who. In reality, we should not be so conscious about what others think of us. In the end, we are who we are. We shouldn't be afraid of what others think.

I don't participate in social media much by posting online. It used to be embarrassing to admit that I don't do so because I am afraid to face the little popularity that I have. I would rather just act like I'm too cool for it. However, I've learned to frame it as a good living habit because I actually save myself from the obsession presented here. I realize that I consistently check when I do change a profile picture to seek for approval and it consumes a lot of my energy and attitude. I'm glad the video pointed this out :)

I don't do selfie frequently, maybe 2 out of 10 times. But I like to post my picture to social media and I have this obsession of how many likes I could get with the picture I posted. Lately, I realize that these doesn't have anything to do with my real life and so, I decided that that's it, enough with that obsession and be real and present. Really. By the way, I love the way you express messages in this video.

tbh it has its pros and cons. I believe in taking photos in any form is the best way to keep memories, but when you go overboard that's when it takes control of you. There's a difference between keeping memories and enjoying the moment while its still there. Enjoy every moment of your life while you still can 👍

This is such a good project. I want to share this video on my Facebook, but I already shared the one about social media so I probably shouldn't spam my feed, huh? I love this message. It's true that we can become obsessed with taking the perfect selfie. And so often we can place our worth on how many likes we garnered or how pretty or cool or handsome we looked in a photo, or obsess about how our friends always look perfect in photos but we don't. Great message and reminder that our worth is not in how many likes a photo gets or how perfect we look in a photo.

My thoughts on this video. Great video, I came to realise that taking selfies or photos symbolises your journey in life after watching this video.Life is about capturing the good moments, just like taking picture of something awesome. And if bad moments come....retake. Always wanted to start being a youtuber just for fun and to know more people, just that I can't start anywhere. Message to TMT, live a life you'll remember, keep doing what you like!

this is why I wont bother taking selfies. Maybe taking it for a memory with a friend or a family and that's about it. I never really thought about posting photos online when you know that the likes you get maybe is just a cover up or to remind yourself that you're beautiful. When really the truth is seen in the real world, where your close mates and family members, keep telling you're always beautiful inside and out. Have a wonderful day everyone. And remember to keep smiling. That's important.

First of all, you are beautiful, each and every person. Why would people need likes just to feel acknowledged? I mean instagram, twitter, facebook, every people on social media do not care about how you look, they dont care about what you post entirely. They wont take the time to actually examine the picture just to catch your flaws. And the reason they like your picture? None. They just simply double tap or pressing the like button. Live life, care less and be happy! That's all that matters anyway. 😘😘😘😘😘😘
