NODE: Programming the NODE irrigation controller

In this video, you will learn how to program the Node battery powered irrigation controller.
The Node controller requires the use of DC latching solenoids. To create a program on the Node sprinkler timer you will need a start time, run time, and day to water.
To get started, learn about the buttons on the Node sprinkler clock. To turn the Node display on, hold any button down. Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the settings, the plus and minus buttons to adjust a given option, and the center button to change the page or advance to the next feature.
To program the Node battery operated irrigation controller you must first set the date and time. To set the time and date on the node press the center button, simply scroll through the choices using the left and right arrow buttons and adjust the displayed item using the plus and minus buttons.
An irrigation program is a group of stations that are set to water at the same time. To create a program on your Node battery operated sprinkler controller press the center button to access the start time programming option. Adjust your start times using the plus and minus buttons on the irrigation controller. To delete an irrigation start time, use the plus button to find the off position just before midnight and press the center button.
To assign run times to the stations on your Node battery powered sprinkler clock, use the center button to scroll past the start time screen to the station run time option. Use the plus button to add minutes to your run time, then use the right arrow scroll to the next station. Once you have set your station run times for your sprinklers, press the center button to scroll back to the home screen.
To set the days that you want your sprinkler system to run using your Node battery powered irrigation controller, use the center button to scroll through to the water days option. Use the right and left arrows to scroll through the dots that signify the days of the week (starting with Monday) and hit plus or minus to select the days to water. Another option is to set your Node controller to use an odd/even watering option, or interval mode to set the number of days between watering cycles.
To set up a separate program on your Node battery powered sprinkler timer, use the center button to go to the start time option and hit the program button one time. Once in program B, you will assign start times, run times, and watering days for this program. After setting the program, press the center button to return to the home screen.
Another feature that the Node battery powered irrigation controller has is the seasonal adjustment option. To activate the seasonal adjustment, press the center button to go to the percentage option and adjust using the plus or minus buttons. Once the desired setting is reached, press the center button to return to the home screen.
To run your sprinkler stations manually with the Node battery powered irrigation clock, hold down the right arrow to enter into the manual mode. Select the station you wish to run by using the right arrow. To turn the station off, use the center button to scroll to the off screen and it will turn off that zone, then use the center button to return to the home screen.

I must agree, this little gadget is so confusing... If it wasn't confusing you would not have had to make this video and I wouldn't have had to search for it. Now that I've watched it, i'm going to go "TRY" and program this little bastard.

I live in a hot climate, and I need my garden to be self-sufficient for a week or two when I go away. It works great when programmed correctly, but therein lies the rub: it's TOO CONFUSING!!! I'm on my third year, but I'll be damned if I can figure out whether the thing is even off or on. There needs to be a more user-friendly interface. I'm not happy that my irrigation guy installed this one, after I went to the expense of getting electricity piped to the garden for an automated system. I'm still scratching my head, although this video helps some. Maybe if I watch it a few more times I'll have the nerve to try and program it again. I would never recommend this product to anyone.

The problem is the menu system is so poorly designed. I'm still unclear even from watching the video how I need to set this up. The problem is with different stations/ different programs and poorly labelled options on the screen. A product is only as good as its operating system. Won't be buying another one.

My sprinkler guy installed these in two different places on my property. He got very ill before showing me how to work them. That was months ago. I haven't heard from him since even after many calls. I am sad because he helped me a lot. So miraculously, in the winter my tree trimming guy got it working but now I need to figure it out myself. I thought I did it but the people who live there said it doesn't go on. I will figure this out! Thanks for the phone number to call.

I got one installed for my front lawn by a landscaper. I can’t get my head around the “stations” and “programs” factor. Can one program include two stations. It’s not explained clearly. The poor guy doing the you tube only goes so far. I set a program but then how do I know a station is assigned to it? 😬😩

Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. A single program, program "A" for example, will need 3 things programmed for the controller to run it automatically. · START TIME for the program. · RUN TIME for at least one station in that program. · DAY TO WATER for the program. One program can include two stations to be programmed to turn on at a certain time. For more information about controller programming and station run times please see the link below. www.hunterindustries.com/support/node-programing-overview If you have any questions please feel free to contact us at 1-800-733-2823 between 5:30 AM and 4:00 PM PST, Monday through Friday.

I am having a terrible and frustrating time programming this thing. My sprinkler guy put this in--at great expense--and I can not get it to work as I wish. In one place I have two stations but only need ONE station to have a second watering daily as it is in the sun but I cannot get this to happen. I can leave the other station off--or try to--but it will not work that way. I do not want both stations twice a day so I put one station on another program and still I cannot get this to work. Have watched the video many times and still have not gotten this thing where I want. I can get watering once a day but the twice for one station eludes me.

Good question about programming. You need to create two programs to accommodate what you need. Go to the same settings (Start Time, Run Times, Water Days) but change to program B to set up your other zone. You can give us a call if you need further assistance, Technical Support is available Monday through Friday, 4am to 4pm Pacific Time at the number 1 800 733 2823.

I have a shady front yard and a sunny back yard and the system will not let me water the back scorched yard twice without also watering the front which does not need it. Even my sprinkler pro could not fix this problem. I did set the stations on separate programs and it is not helping.

One thing that I can't find the answer for is "System Run Time" Is the amount of time entered per cycle or cumulative? So if I have 3 times scheduled and want to run them 10 minutes each do I input 10 or 30? I'm starting with 10 to be on the safe side. This is my first time with setting up any irrigation controller and I'm installing it tonight.

Great question! The amount of time /minutes being entered in "Run Times" is the duration of watering length per station/zone. Here is an example of a program for a 4 station controller: You have a 4 Station Node Controller. Your lawn stations are valves #1 and #2. Your shrubs stations are valves #3 and #4. You want the lawn stations to water Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4:00 am and again at 6:00 am for 6 minutes per station. Finally, you want the shrub stations to water on Saturdays at 6:00 am for 10 minutes per station. Here is what each program would look like on the door card:

  • @Hunter_Industries

    @Hunter_Industries

    3 жыл бұрын

Thank you for contacting Hunter Technical Support. On the Node controller, you are not able to select the interval start and days left. When the interval starts depends upon what time of the day you set the interval and what time you set the start time. · If you set the interval AFTER the start time has passed, the irrigation will start after the number of days has past. · If you set the interval BEFORE the start time, the irrigation will start that day and then start the interval day cycle. For example: If your start time is 5am, and you set the interval at 9am, and you have a 4 day interval, the irrigation will not run for 4 days, then every 4 days after that. If your start time is 10am, and you set the interval at 9am, and you have a 4 day interval, the cycle will start at 10am, and then every four days after that. @Hunter_Industries

    2 жыл бұрын

Hello Paul, Wireless Rain Sensors are not compatible with the NODE as wireless sensors require a 24-volt power supply to operate. To install the sensor on the NODE: 1. Cut the yellow wire loop attached to the NODE at approximately the middle of the loop. 2. Remove approximately 1⁄2" (13 mm) of insulation from each wire. Attach one yellow wire to each of the wires of the weather sensor. You can mount the rain sensor up to 100 ft (30 m) from the NODE controller (18AWG/1.0 mm minimum wire size). 3. Secure wire connections with waterproof connectors. Please email support@hunterindustries.com for additional support.
