Like others have said, this is probably the most informative video I've seen on sprinkler adjustments -- and the first one ever that revealed the ability to swap out nozzles! I never knew that and have worked on my own sprinkler systems before. Kudos on the video, Silver Cymbal! (As the "Professor" mentioned below, very good instructional technique - good verbal information with synchronized visual explanation. As a DIYer, I especially appreciated the little PVC mock-up stand you put together to show a rotor head in a working, out-of-the-ground demonstration for clarity. That was an extra step and bit of effort you went to, that was appreciated.)

Very kind of you. I felt the same when someone finally shared these with me too. These make all the difference on having your system tuned for your yard.

It should be said that the ability to swap the nozzle should be thought out prior to doing so. 90% of the people watching this wont have the water pressure through the city to throw 5.0 GPM nozzles in multiple heads on one zone without the zone tanking from low water pressure.
You are one of the best video teachers out there, all subjects. Very few people would take the time to assemble an above-ground sprinkler as you did, solely for delivering a 100% clear video on the topic. And you stick to the point. Thank you for this great video series.

They are secrets to me! As a retired college professor, I must compliment you on your excellent instructional video. You're a master teacher!
Very well done and informative. I have had a system for years and am just now starting to replace some of my Hunter PGP rotors. I needed a good tutorial and thank you for providing it.
Excellent Video, Having the sprinkler attached to a base platform was excellent to see all parts of the sprinkler up close. Your video was not jumping around and easy to view. Excellent precise instructions, good clear voice and sound quality and no background wind noise or music. I am going out right now and change a flow nozzle. Thanks so much for your time and effort to produce a top-notch video.
Learning about the clip holder was great! Many times I tried holding the nosebleed head to make the adjustments! Both hands free is very wonderful!
I think some people get intimidated by in-ground sprinkler systems. They are very easy to work on and adjust. Thank you for putting together these type of videos!

Great, understandable explanation. I had my lawn and sprinkler system redone last October so of course I didn't find out the sprinkler system wasn't covering the entire lawn until now. I've been researching how to fix this and you had the answer. I just need to get one of those adjustment tools. Thanks!

Glad it helps. Mine was the same for years and installers don’t want to deal with tuning the system they just tell you to run it longer until you go bankrupt. Thanks for the nice comment and for watching
AMAZING video! I just got a sprinkler system and all these little tricks are just fantastic. I cant wait to perfect each sprinkler to the max.
Thank you so much.. Some one gave me a set of sprinkler heads and i had no idea how to control the distance. I searched and searched for almost 2 full hours and finally gave up. Then your video shows up. It is very well documented, detailed and answered all my questions. !! Many thanks
This is the absolute best video I have watched regarding sprinkler heads. Thank you for providing this information. So thrilled that the amount of water flow can be adjusted simply by changing one tiny part of the sprinkler head. Very interesting.
Finally, thank you for this video
Getting ready to make your pvc sprinkler watering base. Great videos, learning alot. Thanks.

This is amazing, thank you! I just installed an extremely DIY system with no experience. I had no idea you could change out nozzles. I thought I had to swap out the entire sprinkler head!
Thank you.... never realized the nozzles could be switched out? Unreal. Probably just saved me a few hundred bucks to fix several problem issues with my system. Keep up the great content.
This is excellent info on adjusting water flow that most videos do not cover. Easy fixes. Great work!

This is the best sprinkler video
Excellent video.... Tip: If you get dirt in the set screw hole in the small hole inthe rubber cap. You need to clean the dirt out so you cabn use the tool. You need to use a water hose on high power to clean out the dirt so you can adjust the set screw and therefore adjust the spray pattern using the tool.

Thanks. Now I understand picking (and installing) the correct nozzle. I needed that.
@barbadosphilip

Just remember that picking it out is not as easy as shown. The nozzle fits pretty tightly. Picking it out will destroy the nozzle, better to release the retaining screw and turn the water on. The nozzle will just shoot out.
A picture and word perfect instructional video. Thank you.

With the sprinklers running, take that white adjustment key and stick the plastic end of it into the hole with the plus and minus signs and turn it until you feel it engaging. Hold the running sprinkler head with your left hand and turn the key either to the left (-) or right (+). This will either decrease or increase the lateral swing of the head. With most brands, the right swing remains the same while the left is what the key adjusts. If the right swing needs adjusting, do that first. Grab a pair of channel lock pliers and turn the whole head so it's right swing stops where you want it. Don't grip it too tight because it's only plastic and can crack. Once the right swing has been set, use the key to make adjustments to the left swing.
Nice. Thank you. How do you adjust side-to-side settings?
Thanks for explaining the instructions by making a video. I guess folks will watch this instead of reading the instructions👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
very informative! Thank You!

Great video...did not know about the head clip to keep above grade.
Good information, thanks
Thank you - very well done.
Good video but I have a couple of comments. 1) one thing you didn't take into consideration is if the system can handle a larger nozzle. So say with your current pressure and gpm you can only run 8 gallons a min per zone. If your zone has 4 heads 2 gpm nozzle size by increasing nozzles on that zone you will loose pressure. 2) the best way to get even coverage is to do an irrigation audit. Set up little cups in your yard. Run all zones for 30 min then measure how much water in each cup, times that by 2 and you will figure out how much water you are actually putting down per hour. Then you can adjust from there. Remember in the heat of summer in full sun you need 1.5" of water a week depending on soil type. I just did this with my system and realized I wasn't putting down nearly as much water as I thought I was.
