Nodachi-Jigenryu Hyouhou-Kai, Shiratori Shrine Annual Autumn Festival, Dedicatory Demonstration
This video is a dedication demonstration of Nodachi Jigen-ryu held at Shiratori Shrine in Ebino City, Miyazaki Prefecture on September 23, 2023.
Nodachi Jigen-ryu is a school of swordsmanship that was born in the Satsuma domain during the Edo period, and Nodachi Jigen-ryu Hyōhokai is one of the Satsuma swordsmanship groups called Nodachi Jigen-ryu.
The Satsuma domain ruled Kagoshima prefecture in Japan during the Edo period. Ebino City was once a territory of the Satsuma domain, and the culture of the Satsuma domain still remains.
Every year on September 23, we hold a dedication demonstration of Nodachi Jigen-ryu at Shiratori Shrine's Autumn Festival.

続け打ちですが、横たえた木の束の高さが低いのは何故でしょうか？ 面や袈裟はいま少し高い位置と思うのですが。 どなたか詳しい方、お教え下さい。

横木はあくまでもストッパーの役割になります。横木が敵ではなく、その先に居る敵を斬る事を想定しているので、横木の位置は低いのです。 また、続け打ちをしっかりと稽古することで打ちの威力や速さを支える足腰などの体力が鍛えられますが、横木の位置が頭や肩の位置にあると、しっかりと振り抜けずに中途半端に身体が止まってしまいます。 続け打ちは一撃必殺の威力の打ちを鍛える基本稽古であり、より実践的な稽古は打ち廻りなどになります。

よく分かりました。 剣道の打込み台が打突部位と同じ高さにあるのとは、考え方からして違うのですね。

Thank you for watching. Yes, this is Jigen-ryu. To be more precise, there are two different schools of Jigen-ryu, and this is one of them, Nodachi Jigen-ryu. I have added English subtitles and explanations of this movie, so please read it.
