The turtle initial (M, L, D, R) is seen on the head when you take the head off. Also, Raph's shell is the more scuffed up one due to him getting into fights more often than his brothers

Even though the originals are so much more iconic as far as OG turtles, man these aesthetically look so much better. The original design was more "funny papers" lookin', and these definitely capture a more quintessential comic book aesthetic. Cause originally I was a little thrown off with their bulk, but it really works.

Truly excellent!

Always thought it was weird that not every iteration of Donnie (the versions that have a strap for Leo's scabbards - and yeah, swords have scabbards, knives have sheaths) has the over-the-shoulder strap for his bo staff. You'd think that'd be a thing; plus it adds a little more variety to characters that look so damn similar.

Since the weaponry, in this case, is Japanese, the term I use is saya. You sheath katana or ninjato in saya.

In all fairness, these aren’t even supposed to be on the shelf yet. Some Targets are just doing whatever they want making it harder to find them. The online release will be easier I think

This is a beautiful set, but i have the original Mirage 4 pack from Spencer's Gifts. I bought that set with my first paycheck when i was a teenager. And honestly, I'm good with those. Awesome review, man. I have a nostalgia attachment to the OG Mirage set because they're modeled after Eastman and Laird's art styles.

They do not, but you can usually find some brands labeled as "flight stands" or "figure stands" on Amazon. (generic names)

SPOILERS REGARDING THE RTNY ARC OF THR MIRAGE COMICS 1:59 Regarding the artwork on the inside you ask it if it reminiscent of a panel from the comic. I think it is a colored version of the panel where they cremate worm Shredder. Not actual Shredder but worm Shredder is where all these other things got inspiration for how to kill real Shredder. That's why they have Leo decapitate Shredder usually. Because Leo decapitated worm Shredder in the comics. Not how actual Shredder died. I guess people found the iconography of the severed head/helmet more compelling than having him pushed off a building with a bomb.

Leo decapitated Shredder in Tmnt 2003 animated series I think in season 4 near the end of the original war with the Foot Clan where the brothers took the fight to the Foot building and battled Shredder at the top of the tower Game of Death style.

With being an artist, it's very interesting you were never into comics. I was *obsessed* with 'em in the '90s (same with the trading cards), but mostly just cause I'm an artist, and loved the artwork. As much as I know about comics, truth be told I've never read a single entire issue 😬. Got all my info from Wizard and such...cause I'm not much for readin' 🙂.

3:44 Ain't it crazy that not that long ago the Turtles in Disguise set came out for $125; and you got _sooooo_ many hands, and soft goods, and deep dive accessories, and more! You know, then right after that, the very basic style guide set for $150, and now this. I mean I'm not sayin' this set ain't worth $150, but _very_ strange a 2-pack loaded to the gills with two figures that are completely unique and newly tooled for $60. So how come these (four redundant bodied) 4-packs aren't $120 🤔?

Should have been $125 and available for pre-order. Cant stand chasing these figures and now they are $160+ with less and less accessories. They are nice but they are the same 4 figs with different heads. I am sticking with my original 4 mirage figures unless I catch a deal.

I havent desired to collect any turtles figures with a red bandana except raphael. I must have the differentiating colors. Lol. I skipped the original Neca TMNT bc they all had the same head bands and bought the very well done boot legs off of ebay with the differentiating colors.

@NostalgiaUnboxed yeah my first experience with tmnt was the 80s cartoon/90 movie/ and the amazing original playmates line of toys..I of course knew nothing of the comics til I was older bc my turtles love time was between 5 and 10 years old..lol .so I never developed the connection with the original comics or designs. I saw these at target the other day and passed on them bc It's just too hard to differentiate and it feels like you're buying four of the same 🐢

@NostalgiaUnboxed they are nice..if only I was super rich..I still have to get kino and bike, Danny, the tmnt 3 movie box set all at probably scalper prices..lol...im skipping tmnt 2 movie turtles bc I have the first movie ones. It'd a crazy time to be a TMNT FAN..with the classic retro figures on the shelves at the stores also,super 7 ultimstes, neca cartoon tmnt line, and now mutant mutation kinda aping the original playmates to a degree with the costumed turtles and extra added accesories..what a time to be collecting tmnt.
