@@cheryldaniels9745 No, if you see the whole video the orca is hunting it. Orcas use brute force to incapacitate things that they're hunting. Often trying to cause broken bones to prevent prey from escaping while also ensuring their kills aren't stolen by things that can detect bleeding. Just search orca hunting dolphin pod on youtube.

I remember sailing from Seattle to Dutch Harbor along the coast of Canada and through the Gulf of Alaska. The Orcas would follow the ship and play in the wake. Beautiful creatures

I did exactly the same trips brother ,from Seattle to Dutch harbor, wow reading your comment brought back some memories & a few tears, I did that journey for 6 years & at the end of every trip we be at the elbow room 😂 , one time our turbo when out so we only had the router up front working, we were at bering sea near Russian ocean line ,58 days including the trip trip time, till tugboat pulled us back to Dutch harbor, brother thank you for many memories, in Dutch harbor from 1990 to 1996 on the Yukon viking, & Yukon Queen,

Yeah that’s what I’ve always thought too bro. I think only explanation is yes dolphins is faster but not by that much & the orcas have numbers on their side. Like top speed for dolphins is let’s say 35mph & orcas is 28mph but with numbers on their side? That can turns the table pretty even with each other I think. I’m not an expert at this lol

Orcas are the largest dolphins on Earth. That smaller one is indeed a decent sized dolphin. It must be 7 feet long.

​@eaglewinnings8003 definitely very close .... dolphins also know how to do the wave thing orcas do to seals, just dolphins do it to fish to beach them. They also have complex social groups and each group has its own "culture", show great adaptability, one fo the few creatures that can recognize themselves in a mirror, the list goes on Dolphins and orca belonging to cetacaens which are known already for high intelligence and also belonging to the same order as Orca means they are extremely close in intelligence

Jacques-Yves Cousteau in the late 70s flew with an American biologist in a helicopter looking for orcas. The guy told him that he once saw how about 50 dolphins were trapped by 10-12 orcas. Many dolphins were devoured... he told him.

I’ve read several dolphins can kill an orca by ramming it. It seems like they overall get along great. I’ve even read about dolphins saving an old orca from great whites

I miss Jacques Cousteau!!! I loved watching him! I’m afraid I missed that one though. That’s sad to hear about the dolphins.😢

They are powerful graceful and can be deadly but also gentle.

When you realize the orca, as the largest of the dolphins, is this baby's auntie.😮

I find it funny how real life fights to the death are so awkward, weird and even silly at first glance compared to the ones from fiction.

They are cousins though, a lot of people think orcas are whales but they are actually in the dolphin family 🤓

Usually orcas don’t attack bottlenosed dolphins. I feel bad for it tho. Edit: But it’s the circle of life. In the world, you’re part of the food chain, human or not.

I don't think any Orcas eat dolphins. Each pod has very specific things it's willing to eat, which is why they don't attack people. These just seems like old-fashioned malace.
