If you have not been to South Korea, then I'd say take the time to do some research. As someone that has actually been there, and seen what the country looks like even decades after the Korean War, and having seen exactly what the water floods do to the country (we didn't just bomb North Korea's countryside and cities...we bombed their dams too), I completely understand WHY they want the US to not have any bombs sitting near their border. It's seriously a legitimate request as a quid pro quo for North Korea to freeze their nuclear campaign. As a veteran that served in that area during the time when Kim's father passed away and he took over, I am telling you, the U.S. government would be doing the right thing by taking that deal. It would reduce tensions in the area, it would keep people on both sides of the border safer. I get that North Korea has a messed up government, but we cannot have any positive effect on that or the lives of their citizens unless we stop scaring the North Korean people by making them think we would show up anytime to flatten the country again.

Whining about "the left" . . .. .complainning about "the right" . . . "libtards", "Conservatives", "gay", "straight", "Black", "White" . . . . . . . all of them are labels that keep you preoccupied with and blaming someone who - JUST LIKE YOU - is trying to hold on to a little of what they've worked hard to achieve!!!!!! All of it is intended to keep you bickering amongst yourselves - - - - and NOT thinking about the ongoing drip drip drip of YOUR SAVINGS and STANDARDS OF LIVING . . . . into the pockets of the one percent.

Nonetheless yes we all know these political parties r nothing more than a Laurel n Hardy show just like the elections r no more than a circus show for their already SELECTED next president.

Chomsky is still overlooking certain facts :: The Soviets developed Weapons-of-Mass-Destruction when they saw what Truman did to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The United States has placed its "National Security" in danger by its militaristic actions against the-then Soviet Union. Stalin was protecting the USSR from U.S. Aggressions. Chomsky is also totally wrong about the settings of The Doomsday Clock ! The hand of The Clock reached 12 midnight -- TWICE ! _August 6, 1945 & August 9, 1945_ _( I'm sure the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki would correct Chomsky in his severe mis-representation of History. )_ _[ The Clock-Makers came into existence in 1947 and didn't have the foresight of "telling" Time to set the hand Retroactively, if only out of respect for the Dead & Surviving Radiated. ]_

So, why are suicide and overdose rates in the US so high? Why is the crime rate so high? Why are we involved in euphemisms like War on Drugs and War on Terror while drugs and terror in our own country has been outrageously occurring? I don't think it is because of democratic principles or the Democratic Party, or labor unions, or public education, or... If people are paid are paid a decent wage and jobs are available, people will work, anywhere! The problem is antagonism. If right wing nuts are pronouncing war against people exercising their liberty, like going to college, then the antagonism in social relations cause despair, mental illness, crimes against others and against people's own bodies! But, with worldwide drug cartels poisoning entire nations and populations, "junkies" are not simply a problem of free will! The problem is inequality and antagonism.

free healthcare and education are actually paid for from taxes. Free at the point of use, not free from the magic money tree. And are you actually saying equality (which restriction on capital goes along with), regulation and labor unions are a bad thing? Look what happened without all that. Also, Europe as such has never been socialist, certain countries had leftist governments for a period. But what actually failed its population is the good old neo-con ideology which has gained ground for the past 30 years.

Noam Chomsky is a classic example of someone who has all the answers, but little practical experience. He has no clue at all as to the actual role of CO2 in influencing the climate; his climate science comes from basically reading off of the 3"x5" climate activist's card. If he actually spent time listening to both sides of the 'climate' argument, which you'd think his 'incredible intelligence' would actually direct him to, he'd understand there are many extremely-capable climate scientists who don't buy into the nonsense he spouts out. The rhetoric he spews out has been offered by others again and again and again over the last 33 years, and every time these 'tipping points' and 'deadlines' have come and gone. Only a fool, after more than 30 years of these false threats relating to CO2, would believe the BS that he spews. Chomsky is nothing other than someone who speaks to his own audience, they ignorantly lapping-up every word.

What happened to Noam? He was interesting and seemed relevant 20 years ago. None of this rant is correct, in balance or applicable anymore. Earthlings have improved in every measurable way over the past 80 years: lowest starvation, disease, infant death, crime rates, highest education, life expectancy, quality of life in the history of mankind. The US had a hand in some of those advancements. Were we supposed to let Hitler conquer the world? Or Stalin? We are living in relative peace right now.. Chomsky's arguments and Western Civilization-bashing arguments didn't pan out. We aren't perfect, but we are as good as it gets. People from all over the world are still scaling fences and deserting their families to come to the USA. We didn't invent slavery, racism, war, greed and bigotry. All that was alive and well in the Americas prior to the Europeans. Check out what was happening in Africa, Middle East, Asia and Russia prior to 1900's, even today. We aren't undermining global warming. He's way off base, just spouting off hate rhetoric now.
