In the book, he examined the “Bush doctrine” and its implications. In particular, he addressed the Bush administration’s space policy and overall efforts to expand U.S. influence and power. He also talked about the case of British whistleblower Katherine Gun, who leaked a memo stating that the NSA had been spying on UN Security Council members; and the charges against the Cuban Five, who were convicted of espionage in 2001. Following prepared remarks, Mr. Chomsky was presented with the Award of Excellence by the society. He then responded to questions from members of the audience.

yes that seems very low. It also could be related to the title seems to advocatefor U.S. then-as-now current internation cultural and other wise power grabs. Although I have jot studied this book yet mainly the essays on power, linguistics, propaganda, etc

They lied and it's far more beneficial for them to gain control over resources and the land than to actually take physical possession of the resources. Using bases, boarders, embargos, sanctions and tarrefs the US controls many countries until they agree to what the United States wants! For those of you who claim the US doesn't have bases and possession/ownership of oil fields, Poppy Fields and other precious materials (Uranium, Cobalt, Diamonds, Gold, Silicone mines) They don't need possession, they effectively control where it goes, who gets it and can even manipulate trade to make it worthless unless the US gets what it wants in forced agreements.

@@utilitymonster8267 Justin is being extremely specific; that's practically a quote. I personally gave him a pass because he is Noam Chomsky,but really just barely. Chomsky's thinking about the trajectory of the response to the pandemic is truly frightening and uncharacteristic of someone who is skeptical of authority in general and corporate profits based on unquestioning submission to authority in particular.
Since when did the United States become a democracy, Mr Chomsky?? We were founded & established as a Constitutional Republic, were we not?? 🤨

Lol we've heard this own for years. Nobody cares. Representative democratic republic. We elect reps democratically and the have to answer to and govern within the parameters of the constitution. We all know this and don't care. He's addressed that same criticism like 15 years ago if not before. He said he doesn't care about the word game.
I'm a high school drop out and smart enough to know government isn't the solution it's the problem, we should only elect people with iqs over 130 points.
