So, when people say they were "born in the wrong decade", what they really mean is "I enjoy the aesthetic of the decade" and basically act as if living in a romanticized vision of that area will be rosy and nostalgic and shit. I'm not sure what's stopping you from wearing a full petticoat or flapper dress, so if you want to do that then go for it.

"I was born in the wrong decade" means one of 2 things: "I like the good parts and never thought through the bad parts" or "I thought about the bad parts and my mind twisted it into thinking I would either not be effected, or that the bad parts are worth the good" either way... I was born in the exactly right decade for me

Humans do not stop wanting simply because we get what we currently want, just as we live in a time objectively better than the past, the people in the future will have it even better. The average kid in 1700 probably wanted a new pair of shoes. In 1800, a bike, In 1900, a car, In 1950, cheap air travel. And look where we are today.

When people say "I should have been born in this or that decade because the music was better" it always makes me want to facepalm so hard. It's 2016, all of that music STILL EXISTS, and you can get it for cheaper than you could have ever before (if even paying at all). And you can meet people on the Internet who got together because of their love for that music so finding people to discuss it with is easier. And besides, popular music may not be of your liking, but what you don't know is that the shitty music from back then doesn't filter down to our times, we don't remember it. And there is soooo much more good music nowadays, so many people are able to produce music at amazing production levels completely impossible for them in earlier decades and they can share it with anyone in the world, if you got off your ass and looked for it a little you would find a lot of great music and music that fits your own personal tastes. But mostly: the music back then STILL EXISTS. You can listen to the music from all the "cool music decades" in one sitting. It's the benefit of being in the future.

Ah yes, all the music still exists and could be downloaded, but certain aspects will never be able to be revived in later decades. Example being concerts. People who are born in later generations may love My chemical romance ( a recent reference). Their music will be around, but that person will NEVER be able to see them live in concert because the band has been broken up. Or maybe they are a fan of Tupac, no live concerts for him either. No, that person may never experience the anticipation of waiting for a CD to be released, or a possible meet n' greet. While yes, there is the pro of being in the future of meeting people who like the same band as you, there are also people who will shit on your opinion even though it doesn't affect them in the SLIGHTEST (I know i'm being a little hypocritical, but people who exclaim that people annoy them for stating their opinion irk me just a tiny bit ;) ). Also, you're being a little judgemental believing that the person who states that opinion hasn't tried to find music that fit their own taste. POSSIBLY, they had searched for music that fit their taste, and their music comes from a different decade's pop rather than our own because I can see why some people don't like it with the negative messages in reference to girls some of the time. So! I would kindly suggest to make the world a better and happier place for all, that you kindly hold that sour and judgemental opinion you have of people for saying some words that is also your opinion and does not hold as much weight as your's. Seeing as I don't want to be hypocritical, I will say you do not have to pay attention to this at all c: have a good day

About living in the 1920's, you would've had to go through the Great Depression and possibly die of starvation and THEN if you survive that, you drafted and shipped off to Europe or the Pacific and possibly get killed fighting the Germans or the Japanese. THEN if you survive WW2, you enter the Cold War era where you have to worry about getting blown away in a nuclear war or getting called a Communist and sent to prison or getting killed by racists if you complain even slightly about segregation. Basically, the 1920's was NOT an ideal time to be alive.....

There's no "good time to be alive". As much as people romanticize the past, it's always been horrible to be alive, and it's only slightly better now. Yes, the present day is shitty, but I'd rather be alive now then have to live in an era where I could catch the plague, or be enslaved as a prisoner of war, or get shit dropped on my head back when people took a shit in buckets and emptied them out the window.

More likely is they'll read in the hostory books that the 21st Century was when equal rights for men, women, gays, blacks etc actually took major steps forward, for most countries...

Depends, if politics continue to degrade and global warming results in vast areas being uninhabitable, it could be seen as the golden age. Think of the Roman Empire decline - at a certain point the best years were indeed behind them versus ahead.

Me and my family were talking about how cool 1950/60’s cars were. One of my cousins said he wished he lived back then but I mentioned how it actually would’ve really sucked. What with segregation, the Cold War, McCarthyism and what would lead to the vietnam war it would’ve been terrible. Bring back the sleek car designs leave the rest. But apparently I wasn’t being pro American enough so the 1950’s were a wonderful time where nothing bad happened.

I have a friend like this. it went EXACTLY like this. "I wish I was born in the ___'s." me: *explains everything wrong with that & why it would be stupid* "well, the ___'s then." me: *does the same thing like, 5 times over.* "okay, maybe those AREN'T the best times to be born."

Every time has its ups and downs, but that doesn't mean this decade isn't worse on all levels. Wars, toxic ideologies, economic ruin, hatred, and horrible music. It makes sense to wish to leave this hell.

i have never had a conversation where at the end, the person accepts that maybe being alive now as opposed to a past decade is just fine; no matter how many examples one gives.

Logi Rogi to that I say smartphones, laptops, 3-D printers, same sex marriage legalized nationally. This decade has its problems, but I'm perfectly fine with this time period because we treat wounds with medicine instead of slashing our wrists.

yeah, every previous decade had those things too, and often in greater amounts. take war for example, statistically speaking this decade is considered the most peaceful in the past 500 years.

Siobahn is an incredible actress. That face at 0:46 is worth a thousand words, and the Cleopatra bit was extremely convincing.

I love that she leaves the clothes on from the past ones
