Nah azula a real savage. She let him power up only to trigger the avatar state but soon as he came out she shot him tf down. Even more crazy when you realize Aang ain’t coming back if he dies 😂

Its avatar Roku who told Aang that he's at his most powerful in the avatar state, but also at his most vulnerable. Since the avatar state is basically the strenght of all the previous avatars going into Aangs body, if he's killed in the avatar state, the avatar cycle is broken and the avatar will stop existing. And yes, Azula did kill Aang in this episode, if Katara didnt have the special water, Aang wouldve been dead and the avatar wouldve been gone for good

SPOILER FOR SEASON 3 FINALE AND KORRA For example, Korra cannot take someones bending away like Aang can, but when she is in the avatar state she CAN take someones bending away, as at that moment she basically uses Aangs skill (knowledge) to do the same feat. If a avatar can lightningbend, so can the next avatars if they are in the Avatar State. But at the same time having the knowledge and skill of 100 waterbenders would give you the "strength" to make a absurdly massive tsunami etc. So again, same result but with important extras

I believe they will got the enhance on the skill and more skillset, rather than stats boost like strengt, vitality, or agility. And yes i based it off like a mmorpg game

As a kid, part of me had wanted The Guru to be the only other Airbender who survived the Fire Nation invasion from 100 years ago so Aang wouldn't truly be the last of his people, but as an adult I appreciate the creators not doing that.

@@oriongabriel6966 I mean, humour is not genetically inherited (as far as I am aware), but culturally. So as long as he has lived long enough alongside airbenders in his youth (which he has, as he was a spiritual friend of the airbenders), then it is normal that he has adopted some of that humour!

@@nairdacnalbel but then why is Pathik not a bender when he's very spiritual? I get that bending was learned from animals, meaning it isn't inherently biological, but if it is down to spirituality, then that means anyone can become a bender so long as they start from a young age.

Yea Aang died after Azula shot him with lightning, it entered through his chest and exited from his foot. it was deep and the only reason he survived was because of Katara’s spirit water. Toph inventing metal bending was one of the highlights for me

Zuko is my favourite character, really tragic how he almost went to the gaang side but still got manipulated by Azula, he and Iroh my favourite characters.

I like how Iroh disagree with guru Patik on Aangs decision. Its cool that we see multiple characters who are presented as wise old masters who still disagree with one another.

A few things: Aang did indeed die. You can see where the lightning entered and and then exited his body. His heart would never be able to handle that kind of charge, and he would also be basically cooked. A cheap move because usually when a character is powering up no one attacks. Azula breaks all rules. The Dai Li betraying the Ba Sing Se isn't a real betrayal. The Dai Li are charged with maintaining the peace and safety of the Ba Sing Se. And, that's all. For decades they have used every trick imaginable to pretend a war doesn't exist. Now they are confronted with the Fire Lord's daughter in their midst. They don't know what other inside roads she's made. They do know that the drill just breached the walls a few weeks prior. Ba Sing Se is now openly in the war. So, how do you continue to protect the city? You can fight, lay down and roll over like a submissive dog, or join the enemy. Joining the enemy protects the city and the people the most if you look at it short-term. So, they chose the easiest path, and the path that would be least destructive in their eyes.

Azula is one of the best villains ever. She’s so intelligent and opportunistic. If Avatar was more of a mature show or series like the Avatar Kyoshi novel, Azula would be scarier, and you remember that she’s only 14.

Before you watch season 3 Nickelodeon released an interactive motion comic on their website (Escape from the Spirit World) showing Aang's journey through the spirit world after the season 2 finale. It also gives us more insight into the lives of previous Avatars: Roku, Kiyoshi, Kuruk, and Yangchen. Even though it's not on Nick's site anymore, you can still find it on KZread.

And in this episode, zutara was born. LOL. The writers actually had a hard time choosing between kataang and zutara

Everyone laughs at Katara for almost using the spirit water on Zuko, but I think if she did, Zuko wouldn’t turn on Aang, and subsequently Aang wouldn’t be killed.

Yeah that prob would've helped them tbh. Zuko, Aang, and Katara probably would've forced Azula to retreat, especially if her plan to turn Zuko fails which actually might shock Katara and Aang and make Iroh smile. I'm surprised people found that funny, I thought it was pretty compassionate considering what place the two were at previously only a few months ago. Plus Zuko stealing her necklace.

Well, it would be a great act of kindness towards ZUko, and would cut down some of his shame. But it wouldn't restore his honor

Zuko had a relapse. Azula played on his most crippling self doubts and insecurities because that's just the person she is. That's why it always made me annoyed to see how people turned on him at the moment of his betrayal, so I'm glad some understanding at least was shown here lol Peolle dont just turn over a new leaf. They mess up. They sometimes take steps back or fold to temptation for a bit. That's why I feel Zuko's arc in this show is all the most relatable. What a masterpiece of writing.

Indeed.If he just became a good guy at the end of this season his redemption arc would not even be one,at least for the viewerses.Becuase if you think about that he didn't do anything that bad so far,he did the best he could do in his circumstances,but here he had an actual freedom to choose and this choise was no one's but his own.

the thing about letting go is understanding that he is there for the world, not for someone. His duty is first for the world. He can have a family and people that he cares about, but proteting the balance of the world is his first duty.

Yep, Aang was straight up dead there. And he was in the Avatar State, so if Katara hadn’t brought him back, the Avatar would’ve been gone forever

Toph being the first metal bender ever will always be impressive to me, and it all happened because she got kidnapped

Hey Don, if you haven't already, look up Avatar Escape From The Spirit World on KZread. It's a collection of silent shorts of Aang's journeys through the Spirit World that were released on the Season 2 box set that take place in between the end of Season 2 & the start of Season 3.

Nobody inside the earth kingdom can know about Azula. They were locked inside with that whole wall, they didn't know about the war either. No surprise they don't know who Azula is

To clarify what the Guru meant about letting go of attachments but 3 chakras ago also saying letting love in is being able to prioritize the greater good over your own personal desires. Being the Avatar means you have to be neutral you can't pick sides and you can't be selfish you have to keep the peace that's your job because like the old saying goes great power means great responsibility and the Avatar is the greatest power in this world

I think part of the strength of the writing in this show especially with Zuko is because while it can be upsetting it’s believable. We would all have loved for Zuko to turn against Azula and join the team, but it’s more believable that Zuko would make this wrong choice and fall back into his season 1 and pre season 1 mindset of regain his honor and (he hopes) get his old life back.

Toph is the first metal bender, at least the first we know in the world, I suppose the man said that she can't metalbend because some earthbenders tried to do it before, But it appears no one could

The final line of season 2 always gives me goosebumps. 100 years and the earth kingdom fell at the most crucial time.

It doesn't mean that he can't love or can't have a relationship with katara. He didn't understand that it just means he had to understand that when the world hangs in the balance that is his first priority over everything even loved ones. If katara is in danger or hurt it doesn't matter. He can't think of her if the world hangs in the balance. That's all, it's just about priorities

I just realized something. Avatar had this segment of Aang going through training to control the Avatar state and had him literally undergo character development to get stronger but Korra didn't do anything like this and could pretty much control it from the get go. Another W for the og Avatar ig

Avatars are allowed to love and have relationships and families. Opening the chakra means you have to be ABLE to let them go, not that you have to.

That was a fantastic reaction to episode 19 from Don. He was appropriately amazed at Toph metalbending and how significant that is, and also did a great job of taking note at how much freaking information Azula and her gang are gathering, which is something a lot of reactors don't catch and/or remember later on.

Still to this day, I don't understand why the Dai Li betrayed Long Feng in the finale. I get Feng wanted to usurp the Earth King to gain power, but I don't get why they then betrayed him to side with Azula to allow the Fire Nation to take over Ba Sing Se. Furthermore, like the archers in Season 1, they became underused in Season 3 by only appearing in 3 episodes.

1. Katara defeating Azula 1v1 until Zuko bails his sister out is so fucking impressive. Azula is a perfectionist prodigy who trained with the best since she was a little girl. Katara had like a week or two of training with a master and is mostly self-taught. 2. Yup, Aang was dead for a few minutes. And since he died in the Avatar state, that would have been it if Katara used the water on Zuko. 3. Zuko did not betray Iroh. Zuko was trying to capture Aang for years, Iroh supported him with that. Irohs speech to Zuko mostly is him telling him to not side with Azula. Even so, Iroh didn't fight with Aang and Katara until Aang died. Seeing that as Zuko betraying Iroh is just weird.
