Some people dont like That Rhaenyra took such a risk but i actually love it she believes that it is worth risking herself to prevent a war before risking thousands of innocent men which makes sense with the song of ice and fire prophecy

@@ahmadabdulazeeztugga7147You need to go back and read F&B the way it was intended and the way it makes the most sense to, as a history book. A book “written” 100’s of years after the events by people who never met Rhaenyra or the others. The Maesters of the Citadel in Oldtown, who were located in the home of the faith, which was historically anti-Targaryen and quite sexist, but also where the Hightowers are from and Lord over. The book is not a completely “factual” or reliable representation of how the events might have actually gone down or how the characters might have actually been like, it’s just a biased perspective. It makes more sense that Rhaenyra would be like this when you actually delve into the book and analyse it critically.

@@jlp1013it’s more accepted as canon that Dany’s eggs are older (possibly originating in Old Valyria) and were stolen long before this (by a woman named Elissa), and taken to Asshai before ending up in Pentos as a gift to Dany. Dany’s eggs were fossilized but when she made the deal with the witch (a life for a life) the magic and the fire hatched the eggs. But they may be trying to make it less canonized.

There's nothing for Alicent to figure out. She does realize the mistake, that she misunderstood Viserys, but also realizes that the conflict is too far gone. Aegon isn't giving up his throne, regardless of what Alicent or anyone else tells him of Viserys' true wishes.

Alicent arguably never really had a choice to begin with. After Viserys died and Alicent told them about his "last minute change of heart", their reaction was basically, "Oh. That's nice. Anyway, on to the plans we already had in place anyway." Otto was told by his older brother to push Aegon in episode 3 of the 1st season, and Otto told Alicent the same thing in episode 5. Rhaenyra's claim was always going to be challenged, regardless of anything Alicent wanted...

I still don't think Alicent is in a position to know anything concerning the prophecy. Her late husband mumbled of Aegon and she has a son of the same name. It was less of a devious power play than an affirmation of her son being the heir to throne, which for all intents and purposes, should have been the case all along. Prophecies are witches superstition and she's a devout follower of the faith. There is no mistake for her here, she is distraught because she sees the writing on the wall and feels partially to blame for it, especially for the murder of her grandson. All her life she's been put in impossible positions that diminish her for the sake of someone or something else.

Rhanyra is not trading her dragons to the arryns, she is simply given them dragons and riders for the duration of the war incase they should ever be attacked. That's why the two dragons being sent belong to little aegon and Joffrey. The arryns of the vale have a special fear of dragons, it's their castle's one weakness.

Anything with no apparent "action" is boring to most people nowadays. It's kind of frustrating. I enjoyed this episode too. I've also read the book and that scene was never mentioned but Fire and Blood was written like a history book, so most informations and events that might be significant to the story might've been excluded, especially these indoor-secret ones. This may be a controversial take, but I prefer this takes on Rhaenyra's and Alicent's characters. They both have brimming guilts, self-control, and motivations, not just because they literally hate each other from the get go. I want both of them to be bloodthirsty though, that's the only thing that is missing. But I understand that it might flourish as the dance goes on. Hopefully so.

It doesnt feel like the pedigree that is HotD or GOT, it actually has me a bit nervous. Some of the scenes with the solders arguing felt off. The acting, the way it was shot, everything about it. It felt like I was watching Rings of Power. Like as the show goes on, they forget the style and design language that made the show great. Some of the scene cuts just felt like Starwars. I didnt mind our SlayQueen visiting Kingslanding. But th transition felt a bit like they were visiting Bobafet or something.

I literally choked when I heard that lmao, "alright let's don't get to high with ourself bud" Book Ser Criston Cole is meant to be the greatest of his time. Nearly untouchable. Absolute top-tier with a morningstar. One the the best warriors that had existed and Jaime Lannister considers him a great. Only great fighters of his time he has no interaction with is Cregan Stark, Dalton Greyjoy, and Bloody Ben Blackwood, but I still think he could take nonetheless. He trained Aegon II. , Aemond and Daeron, and all turned out as brave and skilled warriors. Thanks to him Aemond became what he is - nuff said. I personally would put him amongst the top 10 Kingsguard fighters of all time, alongside Ryam Redwyne, Gwayne Corbray, Jaime Lannister, Barristan Selmy, Arthur Dayne, Gerold Hightower, Duncan The Tall and Aemon the Dragonknight. During his 1v1 with Hawin Strong, Criston hits the man's shield so hard with his mace that is breaks Harwins arm. He beats daemon in 1 on 1. fair and square and not by attacking him in the back while he's gloating like they did in the SHOW. The show seems determined to get rid of all his achievements. Also did try to challenge all 4/5 of the Black commanders to single combat prior to the Butcher’s Ball to avoid a battle and save his men since they were pretty much surrounded and basically guaranteed to get slaughtered. Imagine a group of commanders shaking in fear and didnt accept and promptly shot him with arrows until he died (and butchered his men anyways), but the fact he was willing to fight all of those men at once showed he was pretty confident in his combat skills.

No they’re not Daenerys’ eggs. Dany’s eggs were laid by Dreamfyre (Helaena’s dragon) about 50 or so years before this. At the time Dreamfyre was ridden by another Targaryen named Rhaena, and her girlfriend Elissa Farman stole three eggs from her and sold them across the Narrow Sea to buy a ship. We were told when Fire and Blood came out that we would learn where her eggs came from in that book. They can literally only be Dreamfyre’s

Arya was a little kid working as a cupbearer in Harrenhall, very far away from where people know her. Rhaenyra went back to the town she grew up in, where most people can remember her as their princess/future queen. Those two situations cannot compare. Besides, the problem with this scene is not the fact that she travelled to King's Landing but that she wanted to meet with Alicent after the murder of her grandson, which is a grwat risk. Alicent could have ended the war right there by killing her since aegon has a better claim to the trone than jace.

"Always coming and going, aren't you? And I have to clean up afterwards." - Daemon calls Baelon "Heir For A Day", which further solidifies his heartless reputation and was the push Viserys needed to banish him. Because of this, Rhaenyra is finally named heir and although she is happy at first, the hardships catch up to her and she doesn't have anyone for support. - Daemon isn't around and is occupying Dragonstone, which is supposed to be her castle as heir. Even then, Daemon disrespects her deceased brother and she has to be the one to fly to him. After getting the egg and cleaning up for the Crown, Rhaenyra deals with the *small* consequences of disobeying her father (even though any other way to retrieve it would've been bloody). - Her father marries her best friend, which makes her rightfully angry and even more alone. Daemon has fucked off to the Stepstones and she has no one. When Daemon returns, he hatches a plan to get them married but backs out at the last minute. Rhaenyra's honor is still compromised after being seen in the brothel. Daemon touching her and then running away results to her sleeping with Criston. This makes Viserys push for her marriage even harder. Although she didn't help by lying, this sequence of events started by Daemon also removes Alicent from her side. Daemon is once again banished, leaving her to deal with it alone. - Once she has accepted her marriage, Daemon disobeys Viserys and comes back at her wedding celebration. She dares him to take her and marry her in Dragonstone, but chaos ensues and once again, he runs away and leaves her. - Without Daemon around, Rhaenyra finds love in another. She ends up having bastards with Harwin - but imagine how easy this would all be if her sons were Daemon's bastards instead. There's an element of being pressured by her position as heir to produce children and you can also say that she chose to do it with Harwin out of love, but I don't believe she would have chosen Harwin over Daemon if he were there. - Now they are married. She trusted Daemon enough to ask him to be her consort and after years of trust and as a grieving mother, she asks him for Aemond Targaryen. Intentional or just a mistake, the death of Jaehaerys instead (a child, rather than Aemond AKA an adult already known for kinslaying) puts her claim in danger and ruins her name. They fight. He leaves. - Rhaenyra's "You left me." in Season 1 and her conversation with Mysaria in Episode 2 made all this clear. "He's gone. A week or forever, I do not know." "He does do that, doesn't he?" --- In Harrenhal, Daemon sees young Rhaenyra because adult Rhaenyra has made her low opinion of him clear. He seeks comfort in the person who put him on a pedestal, the naive princess. But instead of comfort, he sees that she is angry. Even young Rhaenyra is angry, because all his mistakes with her started when she was young. She was sewing Jaehaerys' head, aka "cleaning up". Now, this is from the showrunner's perspective: He also sees young Rhaenyra because the mistrust and unresolved issues go both ways. Young Rhaenyra was the one who "stole" his throne. He is the King Consort now, but he still feels like it was taken from him and the root of his issues lie with young Rhaenyra being named heir. That scene was him facing his issues and his mistakes. Harrenhal is cursed, as they say and Daemon is just starting to experience it.

@@rai2423 I agree. He was kinda naive in that regard, but I guess that comes from a place of hurt and just wanting his brother to see him for his loyalty. He had a weird way of showing this loyalty, but I think Matt Smith and the showrunners would tell you that Daemon really wanted to be trusted by his brother. I do think Viserys would've kept him by his side even with all his blunders, if it weren't for Otto and the Small Council. They were right that the realm is watching, but Viserys' track record proved that he didn't want conflict and preferred letting family matters go instead of handing out punishments. I think Daemon is putting this anger on Rhaenyra because Viserys is dead and out of the many babes from Aemma, Rhaenyra's the only one who survived and managed to steal his crown in a way he knows is irrefutable. Aegon II and the Greens are just usurpers to him. Let's not forget that he also beefed with Baelon, the newborn who stole his inheritance for a day 😆

Love your comment. I also think Daemon sees young Rhaenyra because he has a soft spot for her. This is the version of Rhaenyra who always adored him, who loved seeing him around, who always welcomed him whenever he visited. She's also young and a little naive and hasn't seen the cruel reality and Daemon has always been protective of her. I think that's one of the reasons why Daemon said yes to her proposal right after Laena's funeral. That's why he killed Corlys's brother and do anything for her because he always feel protective of her.

@@eimyatnoe9209 Yes I agree. He's definitely protective of her. I think no matter how complicated their relationship is, one thing you can't deny is that Daemon has always been ready to kill and use violence in order to serve his family. It's almost the only way he knows to serve them. As the Commander of the City Watch, as Prince Daemon in the Stepstones, as the King Consort. He feels hurt now because (1) Rhaenyra is reacting the same way Viserys did, and again he is alienated (2) "Rhaenyra is his mirror," as the showrunners say. Only they have the blood of the dragon, and her opinion of him matters the most. Young Rhaenyra was as reckless and hot-blooded as he is, which is why he finds it hard to understand why his actions are causing this reaction from her now. When he didn't feel welcomed by Viserys then, he found comfort in Rhaenyra trusting him the most out of anyone. Hearing her say otherwise now, and then seeing young Rhaenyra welcome him with the same (rightful) anger, he finally feels it all crashing down. Someone also said that the room he entered looked like Rhaenyra's old room in the Red Keep 😔 Harrenhal is bound to be a trip down memory lane for Daemon, bless him.

Telling Alicent about the whole prophecy would be the dumbest thing ever, do you guys really believe Aegon would just give up the throne if his mother told him about the dagger and the prophecy? He would use that in his favor, Rhaenyra would lost the only thing she has in advantage to defend her claim, to defend that her father always chose her. She was wise to just plant the seed of doubt in Alicent without telling her of everything. She was wise to not give this to the enemy.

About the visions, I want to bring attention to one nobody talks about. One specific vision weve been told of could have avoided this whole conflict, if it had been followed. And im thankful the person who saw the vision did not follow through on it, because then we would not get this amazing story :D Everyone seems to fully believe in Aegon's prophecy, which came to him in a dream and told him to go and conquer Westeros because the world would need Targaryens and their dragons to survive the long night. People also point out how you need to listen to Helena when she speaks, because she is a "Dreamer" and have visions about a lot of stuff. Like when she says Aemond would get a dragon but loose an eye. Viserys spoke of "dreamers" in the Targaryen line, people who could see visions of the future. In the books there are many prophecies mentioned within the bloodline of the Targaryens, like Dany receiving a vision showing the red wedding as an example, which was cut from GoT. The reason I bring this up is that everyone seems to forget about the vision that we have been told of twice in season 1 of House of the Dragon. The vision I talk about is Viserys' vision. Nobody in the fandom talks about it at all, at least not from what ive been able to find. Which kind shocks me. The song of ice and fire is brought up both in the world HotD and by fans. Why is this? (Aside from fans knowing its true thanks to GoT, and the charecters in HotD having a dagger with the song of fire and ice written down on it) I think it might be because Viserys did not do as the vision told him, unlike Aegon the conqueror. Aegon went and conquered westeros because his visions showed him it needed to be done. Viserys' vision told him he needed to put a son on the throne because all the dragons would roar as one when he did this. In other words, there would be no civil war between dragons if he had named Aegon heir. We are told this in episode 1 and episode 3 of season 1 by Visyrys himself. The vision is saying how civil war would be avoided, and the dragons saved, so there would be plenty for when the long night arrives. A civil war will result in the beginning of the end of dragons, and we know this because they aren't around anymore in GoT, not until Dany wakes 3 of them anyway. Just think about how difrently thing could have gone had Viserys followed his vision isntead of his heart. Viserys wanted so badly to believe he was a "dreamer", like we Helena and Aegon the conqueror is/where. And he actually was, the only difference between him and the Conqueror was that he did not follow through on what his vision told him to do. This was because of the grief he felt at the loss of his beloved wife, who died in his pursuit for a male heir. This made him question the vision, and ultimately let him to not name Aegon as the heir, despite the vision. I kind of feel like im the only one who remembers this vision, so just wanted to throw it into the discussion. As i feel like its an important piece that has been overlooked by fans:) (Sorry for any gramatical mistakes, english is not my first language)

The whole confusion with Daemon correcting him to say “Your Grace” is odd to me like yes he is egotistical for it but at the same time if Rhaenyra is the Queen and Daemon is her husband does that not make him the King which would mean he would be addressed as “Your Grace”

although different from what was hinted from the book, the writer of this episode confirmed that the eggs that was entrusted to rhaena was indeed the dragon eggs gifted to daenerys which eventually hatched. spoilers starting here! EDIT: based on ryan condal's commentary the fourth egg is viserys ii's dragon egg not rhaena's. we are yet to see morning's egg.

Alys Rivers, the woman at Harrenhal, is a witch of sorts. While she appears young, some say she is ancient. There is a popular fan theory that I like, but don't buy into, that when Alys Rivers "died" she adopted the identity of a Red Priestess of the Lord of Light called Melisandre.

This episode had so many great sequences! -The almost horror vibe scene with Daemon creeping around Harrenhal at night during a downpour was so awesome! -Rhaena catching a glimpse of Criston Cole and Gwayne and trying to get them before they got to the cover of the woods (she should have instantly had her dragon breath fire she would have got them! Or burned a circle around them trapping them). -How many bodies they made it look like were there as the aftermath of just a single battle that wasn’t even 100% official battles yet. -Aemond showin dong at the brothel lol and walking away with that awesome blue eye. -And Rhaenys had so many incredible moments this episode!

@@steve4235 as much as I like HOT D. The scene was dumb. That Rhanyra would take such a journey and risk everything on the chance that Alicent, her former friend would share the same sentiments when for all she could know, Alicent may have been fore front in all this usurping. All that being said, after the discussion, why would Alicent allow her to leave, even if she values peace, taking rhanyra hostage has more chance to bring peace through negotiation than allowing her to go back to dragonstone. And to think rhanyra came up with the plan simply because rhanys adviced her without consulting her council. It was so dumbbb.

You guys are correct about alicent saying it’s too late really because the men are off to war. In the post episode interview ryan condol the show runner said, “It’s not that Alicent is unwilling to hear Rhaenyra, it’s that she has no power, there’s nothing she can do anymore to stop what’s coming.” I do think rhaenyra has opened alicent’s eyes now though and she won’t be able to keep ignoring it.

I think Alicent is well aware she made a mistake. There's no need for her to search up anything on the song of ice and fire. The last dialogue where she told rhaenyra about her father gone from the court, cole marching off, etc is just simply saying no one listen to her anymore. She lost control of the situation and finally realized she never have any say on whats good for the realm.

The only good thing that came out of that convo in my opinion (because Im team black) is that Rhaenyra can finally know for certain her father wanted her on the thrown and she can officially begin making power moves and stop all this peace stuff
