Another passing to note today; the legendary crooner Tony Bennett passed at age 96, just two weeks shy of 97. I know it’s Female Friday, and you’ve probably already have your three set for the day, but possibly you could play Tony Bennett tomorrow; his signature song was “I Left My Heart In San Francisco”. Check out live performance from Ed Sullivan show in 1964. Rest In Peace Tony Bennett.❤❤❤❤

You may or may not recognize her from the Nutri System Commercials. Also she is the co founder of the Women and Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, which began way back when her mother Olive started home schooling her two eldest brothers Virl and Tom who are deaf, after doctors told George and Olive to leave them in an institution. At the height of Osmond mania , they started the Osmonds Foundation for the deaf and speech impaired, that branched into the Miracle Network

I saw Marie in concert a few months ago, she puts on a great show. She brought one of her nephews (he is a very talented) with her plus 2 male dancers. Her concert was in a small venue (an audience of about 1600). If she makes an appearance close to you go see her). She said she still performs because her children are grown and she liked to perform. She also said she only performs on weekends because she doesn’t want to be on the road constantly. I believe she will be 64 years old in September.

Tragically, Marie lost her 18 year old son to s*cide, after really intense cyberbullying about his sobriety. Marie never pressed charges against the three bullies involved, because she figures that they knew awhat they did, and, will have to live with the knowledge.

She was only 13 when she recorded this. I was 8 and I had a big crush on her. You can bet she was the main reason I watched the Donny and Marie show that came on several years later. You've now hit them all except Jimmy, the youngest of the bunch, and he was the first one of them all to get a gold record at age 9! Before you check out Donny and Marie you might want to look up some of the Osmonds appearances on the Andy Williams show. He was the one that introduced them to the country. Alan, Wayne, Merril, and Jay appeared first and then over the years they added Donny, Marie, and finally little Jimmy. Then you can see how much older they all are on the Donny and Marie show. You'll love the banter between her and Donny on the show.

Marie has had an incredible career starting with her appearance on The Andy Williams show with her brothers at age 3, I believe. She recorded Paper Roses at age 13 or 14, then she and Donny got their variety show when she was 15-16 years old. She toured with The Sound of Music much later and I was fortunate to meet her after the show. I also met her at a doll signing promoting her doll line. She’s performed in Branson Missouri and Las Vegas along with annual Christmas tours.

Same with Barry Manilow! Me and my heavy-metal-loving peers back in the day used to diss Barry constantly until a couple of them got dragged to one of his shows by their parents. They may have walked in as haters but they walked out as fans! Even David Grohl's mind was totally blown by Barry's showmanship.
