Looks like someone forgot to open up a valve in the street.

I had a very similar scenario. story was the water company came out to shut the domestic water due to unpaid bills technician mistakenly shut the sprinkler line instead

I’ve never had this happen to me yet but this is scenario is a perfect example of why it shall always be done

Or the sprinkler main pipe to building is completely filled with sediment. Can cause water to slowly fill the system but it won't fill quickly. Seen once.

One thing I’m not understanding is I know a main control valve shuts water to either sections or the entire standpipe system. What I’m not understanding is sometimes I will go past normal control valves that have a tamper and a flow switch and a inspectors test, but sometimes they will have “main control” by the tamper. I don’t get how a tamper could be a main control to shit off water to standpipe? Is there something in missing? (This is for a dry system by the way)

Are you on city or private ? Sometimes city has a pump in maintenance. A few of my neighbors had very low pressure this past week. Turned out to be from the city work going on.

It’s on a city main. They’re coming out tomorrow to see if there is a valve shut somewhere. The hydrant behind the riser room is marked out of service. I’m guessing they have the main shut off and didn’t realize it supplies the sprinklers. The domestic is fed from a different location on the other side of the building.
