No Start John Deere LT155 Riding Mower with a Kohler Command Engine. Battery solenoid carburetor

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Must see this sitting up, neglected and heading for the junkyard John Deere LT 155 Riding Mower with tons of issues. Our customer brought this machine to us to see if T-Bone can save it. We found many issues with this riding mower, electrical and fuel related problems. This machine had an old dead battery, a non-working solenoid that just made a single click (when turning the key), bad fuel / gas in the tank and a carburetor in terrible shape. We work through these issues step by step to show you how to repair these problems with easy-to-follow directions on your machine. These repairs will apply to most all riding mowers with similar issues and hopefully help you repair your machine. Yes, pretty much same repair on Briggs and Stratton, Kawasaki and many more engines and riding mowers.

This video has been SUPER helpful! I'm restoring my fathers LT133. Didn't know that the carb solenoid wasn't technically even needed, good to know! When I'm troubleshooting carb or gas line issues, and end up spilling some, I pour small bit of water over the area just be a little extra safe.

Picked one of these up a few weeks ago off craigslist, kinda similar problem set, new battery, new fuel lines, new fuel pump, and a cleaned carb are all it's really needed. One of the weirder issues I did have was the float valve needle was stuck on mine, which is what was causing it to flood. The "gasoline" in the tank did get it to run initially, but it was more like lamp oil than gasoline and once the machine was stopped would turn into dried up soda. I did pump it all out through the fuel lines with a siphon pump, put some fresh gas in, got it fired up and went for a trip around the yard. Unfortunately, my factory air cleaner had been replaced by some goofy kinda thing, have to see if I can find that part. Thanks for the debugging help.

Just went through all this on one of my 155's I picked up. I wanted to recommend that you put another 150-75 micron fuel filter in the rubber hose going into the carb. This motor has the metal fuel line running under the heat shield that tends to rust up & get debris into the carb. Thanks for the vids!

Good Job, People Think Their Time Is SO Valuable That They Can Out Price Themselves Of Work. Even Qualified Mower Mechanics Think Their Time Is So Valuable It's Ridiculous . They Think They DESERVE To Charge Stupid Prices Per Hour.. I Would Rather Have Worked On A Mower For $ 50 P/H & Get Work, Then Charge $ 100 P/H And Get No Work. It Comes Down To Part Costs Etc. A Honest Mechanic Can Still Make Money. Simply Swapping a Carburettor Is Being Lazy.. Not Many Carbs Need Replacing, Just A Good Clean.. And That's My 2 Cents Worth For Many Mechanics

Like the gentleman said, do you charge the customer for the time to clean or just put on a new carburetor? Even at $50 an hour for labor, a new carburetor can cost less than $30 . So spend an hour cleaning, or a new carburetor? I charge $65 shop hour. I prefer to rebuild, but sometimes that will cost more than a new carburetor. To keep cost down for the customer sometimes the new is cheaper than to rebuild. If it's for myself, I will take the time to rebuild.

@@bertgrau3934 yes the aftermarket carburettors are cheap to replace. I wouldn't charge an hour labour just to clean the carburettor, If I could Save the original carburettor I would. I'd at least give it a go, & if it was still no good I would change it. I also Don't send machines back to the Customer Dirty. I don't care if it takes me half an hour to degrease the engine etc. I will charge what ever it cost me in a can of degreaser to replace the can. Cleaning by pressure washer is quick & Easy. Cleaning The machines show that you care in what you do for the customer and they appreciate & give you more work.

@@jonlambshead5115 I agree I will not give equipment back to a customer dirty. If I can clean a carburetor in less than an hour great, but I usually take an hour . If you don't charge for your time, that's up to you. I do good work, and will not give free work.

As a small guy I’m always happy to a mower get saved from bone 🦴 yard .. but however the more parts and time put into a older unit like this one sure hurts the profit

Yes it does. I informed the customer of the cost and he said go for it and fix it. We don't flip mowers, we own a repair shop. If we were flipping, yes it would hurt the money. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
