If you paint the tube black it will get hotter in the sun, which will heat up the air in the pipe faster and since hot air rises it should create a convection current to aid with the off-gassing.

    1) Only mesh for the top of the tubing? It's going to collect rain and dirt very easily if you don't put a "cap" of some kind on top...there are stuff like that to ventilate gutters, but this tube is small, so you might have to fashion something yourself...perhaps get another 90angle tube and place it on top; also cut it diagonally (longer upper side) to function like a shed/canopy, to prevent rain/water going in easily.....2) you also need to control the direction of air moving in that tube; are you certain that air won't push the smell through the tube in the cabin? This is why people use fans in Van-composting toilets.

Thanks for another great video. I really enjoyed it. Very nice work on the build. It looks good. I was hoping you’d show the top of the outside ventilation tube. I have seen caps on top of vent tubes that swivel with the direction of the wind, so that the tube is always venting air OUT of the tube, no matter the direction of the wind. Actually, here in the States, they sell these omnidirectional toilet vent caps for RV/travel trailers/caravans, which always vent the air OUT no matter the direction of the wind, or the direction of travel. I bet one of those would fit right on top of your vent pipe. Happy Camping

My friends in America had a compost toilet on their land . Three sided with views of the White Mountains from the open side. The toilet was placed over a very very deep hole. They filled it in with soil every now and then, then dug another one. I was never there when it really cold but must have been brutal. Yours looks luxurious 😉

With professional composting toilets the urine is kept separate, this stops the smell. What will you add to the bucket to cover the poop? How do you empty the bucket? Usually human waste to compost takes over a year before it becomes safe to use. Love the brackets, got to agree with the cover over the top of the pipe and maybe a drain at the bottom. Great work on the new superlatives Theo!
