    Favorite was still that Dave Meltzer comment about Buff Bagwell demanding to be paid what he was worth by WCW. Can't remember the exact wording, but it was something along the lines of: _"I'm not sure what the going rate is these days for a 1.87 quarter-hour, but it sounds to me like he's asking for a pay cut."_

    You know I question sometimes how WCW let Russo do this stuff on a basis before they took him away from writing there shows this is the same dude that wanted Tank Abott win the big gold belt. Also this is the last mainstream appearence in wrestling for Macho Man until TNA. Oh and for my opinion on the New York Rules match it could work but if the purpose of the match is no ref should it not be a whoever ko's the opponent should win instead of a pinfall like those ko stips in later WWE games where you beat your opponent so badly you win. 🤔

    I'm not gonna lie Konan had a great point on his podcast not too long ago so Russo was kept in line at WWE because they had so many bookers working there to handle the roster size at the time so Russo only got a few of his crazier ideas through at WCW and TNA Russo was given free reign to do whatever he was the sole person responsible to book the shows and have them make sense but the rosters at WCW and TNA thought he was stupid and a hack so they just did their own things which caused a lot of miscommunication and awkward shifting storylines that make no sense so yes Russo is the guy who killed Pro Wrestling but it wasn't entirely his fault no one stepped in to check him no one made sure he could even do the job on his own and it shows

  • @aluminumsalmongames6277

    @aluminumsalmongames6277

    Part of that was that Russo is great at selling himself to employers. He turned "Was on the staff when WWE started turning into Attitude" into "Bro, I made Austin bro, hire me, bro!" and in two separate companies thought he would make a fine chief creative.

    I happened to see this Battle Royale on my YT Recommended feed and it was apparently the "other" cut-for-TV version without Arquette. And even without that, the whole thing was so wild and the ending was so ludicrous that I went looking to see if anybody had covered it the way that WhatCulture/Culatholics "Weird-and-bad Wrestling Episode" style content did. That's how I ended up here, now I've got a gigantic library of podcasts to crawl through. I'm about to have so much fun at work lol Until I got back into wrestling recently, I really only know the NWO-era WCW so when people say late WCW is all weird and bananas and not good I didn't get it, I loved all of this as a kid. Doesn't change the fact it's all ridiculous and kinda stupid at times, that's just how I like my wrestling, though.
