Just finished the 6 month course with Wang, paid 700 Euros. On the positive side, he is a master who knows his craft. On the negative side, he repeated his knowledge every week: "sink your weight, align your body, open your fascia, send your energy, bypass the contact point, and MAGIC will happen" I have no doubt this is the true knowledge, but there is no more details. Yes he repeated this every class but there is no details: how to sink your weight? how to align your body? how to open your fascia? etc.. If you know what I have written here, you have saved your 700 Euros (I think he upped the price to 800 now). If you don't know what I am talking about, you will learn nothing more from his classes.

SubhanAllah! So rooting is sensing and/or using the primal energy before the ego mind captures it (to think ego-based thoughts). Makes perfect sense, especially when you think about how the mind has evolved to make use and translate that prime energy. Humans are unique from the unthinking specifically because we can harness Prana and convert it into mental processes, but that process itself is what reduces or limits our ability to utilize that same prana on a physical level (as opposed to the mental level of the ego mind). One cannot create or destroy energy, only convert it into different forms.

Does this mean that the subconscious mind can be in harmony with the physical use of prana? So, in other words, can we do Qi Gong and think subconsciously at the same time?

Makes me realize that the ego mind can dominate the body's ability to access Prana: when we watch a movie our bodies slump and we lose track or perception of our physical surroundings.

The purpose of internal martial arts is not fighting. They only evolved from it. And there are real perks to those practices (like self development, understanding your body and mind relationship, sensitivity, beauty, harmonious social behaviors etc..) I have nothing against non fighting martial arts, except if someone claims stuff that they are not really able to do, or teach "fighting applications" when they have clearly no fighting experience so far. (FYI: I'm not pointing at anyone here, make your own assumptions) Experience should come first, then people are free to practice whatever they enjoy as long as they don't manipulate or hurt anyone or claim stuff that aren't true.

"The purpose of internal martial arts is not fighting." - who says it is?? Physical "Fighting" is just one of many potential applications here and clearly not the goal. It seems that you talk about sports fighting which reflects only limited abilitites and performance bound by various rules etc. Social rules and norms have been differrent in different parts of the world through history so it is a bit naive to compare Chinese traditional martial arts to modern day MMA and claim that TMA are not valid/inferior to MMA. At the end it is an individual decision what to look/strive for in life and then find means and methods to achieve your goals.

SubhanAllah! Yes, ether theory has charged and not charged, but modern physics calls it positive and negative (which is an incorrect description according to the scientists who believe in ether). Some say this misunderstanding is the reason for the lack of scientific progression or discovery over the last 100 years.

"The heaven element in you is your mental energy. The earth element is of your physical body. The man is the ego. So traditionally, in ancient Chinese, there is body energy, there is mental energy. They are exactly the same pronunciation but different in character. They all pronounce chi but in character they are different. So the body energy is composed of two parts. It is called rice energy, food energy. And the mental energy is composed of two parts, so literally means no flame. Your ego-mind is the mental energy on flame. Once you de-flame your ego-mind energy, you are just pure mental energy." - Howard Wang.

I disagree with him that this Kung Fu /energy work/ internal skill necessarily makes you spiritual or a better person. For example Yang Chenfu and his uncle Banhou had a reputation of beeing cruel and brutal. Both only make it into their 50ies but both had a very high internal skill. Also posture training was no invention of Wang XiangZhai. It was already part of his training in Xing Yi how it was teached by Guo Yunshen. And it was practized in the Yang family Taiji.
