Also, the influencers that make videos saying ' shop my favs' but it turns out it's just a list of the top selling items. They don't use these items, they just want to sell them because they get paid the most for these items. Jacklyn and Tati had almost the same exact items. It's so deceptive.

@@thiftingmybestlife Hi ☺️ Yes, I knew that if you used say one link from a content creator for let’s a say a pack of powder puffs but you have other items in your cart or add other items that the entire order will kick it back to that creator or influencer. I have no problem with that but I only will do that with content creators that I trust and want to help their channel as much as I can. I’d rather put that money into a creator who actually uses the products they link. I hope that makes sense. I see some Amazon recommendations from huge content creators and they swear it’s changed their skin tone but they haven’t ever talked about the product and that’s why I mentioned Tati. There was a hair oil that she said she was “gate keeping” but decided to let us know about it. I found that very strange and I felt like she wasn’t being honest about it. I see it with so many creators.

On ageism: as an average everyday woman, I find it frustrating that I can't seem to find anyone that looks remotely like me offering tutorials and beauty advice. I'm 30, plump, with an imperfect face. I'd like to see what the makeup looks like on someone that isn't 21 and the ideal standard of beauty.

Man, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE YOU BRINGING THE TRUTH TO THE CARPET!! Your transparency is so appreciated. Not because it helps us see your moral compass, but also shows your character because it keeps you honest and knowing you can’t/won’t double back on your own words. I have unsubscribed from the handfuls of your peers promoting temu and pedophile predators and I have to say again you are a breathe of fresh air. I found it wild that KVD chose Miklaya!!! I remember when KVD released their contour gel and she shredded it to filth and told her audience don’t buy it! She also did the highly sponsored “Essence Video” that so many content creators and influencers also did. She previously tried the Essence concealer and said it was crap 💩 and horrible but when she posted her non disclosed sponsorship video with Essence the concealer was SO AMAZING!!! She’s a verified liar 🤥 why a company would chose her to be the face of the company is beyond me!! I think you were too kind about her skill level Girlie! She does TikTok videos that are highly filtered and 30 seconds, she couldn’t film a true video in long format. The Temu drives me crazy! They reached out to me on TikTok to collaborate with them and I said ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I just love your honesty and your not afraid to speak about things that other content creators are afraid of. I’m sorry your still feeling badly I send you a BIG HUG 🤗

Speaking of the younger influencers....we're at a time now when those in their early 20's have lived their entire existence at a time when social media has existed for their entire lives. I stopped to consider how this has/will impact our society as they move into adulthood, and it has kinda blown my brain wide open.

Dear Mallory, I am 60 yrs old and getting old (even outside the beauty industry) is hard and after a certain age one becomes "invisible". I feel it a lot but none the less I also love beauty and make up. I have a challenge, I am slowly becoming blind. So one and done are the best for me since I can do that just by muscle memory LOL. I love your content and personality so I watch your videos. I stopped buying drugstore make up since I through it away after a couple of uses and become disappointed with the quality. Now I do have a minimalist makeup collection. A bit more expensive but I am very discerning on what I buy. (lots of research, and reviews etc...) Sending you best wishes that you get better soon and lots of love 💞

Thanks for the information! This year is going to be the worst holiday I have had in along while, financially, as I have a very large medical expense at the beginning of December that is going to leave me unable to purchase any holiday gifts and definitely any beauty items I may have been eyeing to give or receive will have to wait for another occasion . Turning off the constant reminders will help a lot, I believe. Also, I hope that you take care of yourself over the holidays (and always). For years, my Crohn’s Disease would flare every Christmas. Like literally, I ended up in hospital right after the Christmas meal, for many years! Anyway, I know how awful it is to be sick, particularly nauseated during a time that possesses a strong focus on all the yummy treats! Anyway, just know my thoughts are with you, girl. You are so strong, and you inspire me whenever I hear about your journey with your autoimmune disorder and it’s treatments (emphasis on the plural - wouldn’t it be nice if only a singular treatment worked??!!). Lots of love this holiday season and into the New Year, Dawn❤

If as soon as you hear the speech you get a bad feeling... it's for a reason. Unfollowing certain accounts should count as Preventive Mental Health Care. I'm very concerned about the young audience that is unable to detect these behaviors and is dragged into buying, or those that come in to do the same, ignoring any good practice policy. Negative behaviors are being normalized just for views and followers. The price... very high... There is no honor in making money without values and scruples. Totally, transparency and honesty in the commercial "wild wild west" that networks are becoming is priceless... it has value, even if they earn less or follow less. Especially when in a week nothing is still relevant. 👏👏

I used to watch you all the time and then just drifted away for no particular reason. But like so many people have said, Peter Monn brought me back and I’m so glad. I hope you’ve caught the times he’s mentioned you. So sweet! You do all of the things he recommends that content creators do! You’re the only person I watch who is honest with your audience. I am so sorry you are sick. Just so sorry. I am going to be praying for you. Your skin looks like a baby’s butt it’s so perfect and you look soooo young.

Sephora bestsellers list is all time bestsellers not the past month. Makeup and beauty tube is my me time. I’m a busy career mother and I’m not into drama. I don’t have the heart for it. I’m finding I can’t even use my Huda products because of her IG posts. She’s really hateful. I can’t get it out of my mind how she was cheering harm to other people. I love how you talk about these situations.

Hi Mallory, you are so right. Lately I am getting videos for sale suggestions, gifts for Xmas, Black Friday with codes and links... I am exhausted! So much promotion! On the Sephora, I got 1 blush and that was it! During Black Friday I will ignore the time I will get what I will get with a code or something later when I feel ready to purchase beauty products.

But it does make me wary and limit who I trust. I think i saw a drama commentator once mention that once someone clicks an affiliate link that your purchases the next 24 hours go to the influencer. Is that true, anyone know?

    P. Louise just teamed up with Mikayla 😆 The irony. I've only just gotten into "beauty KZread" and I CANNOT stand Mikayla. Despite her 'skills', all I see is ugliness. Just like Jaclyn. They're disgusting. You are absolutely right in that the next generation is going to think they're going to get far in life by controversy and not actual talent and/or skill. It's so sad. I stay far far away from TikTok as I have no desire for that cesspool 😅 I blame that platform for a lot of these issues TBH. But anyway, the look is gorgeous! 🤩 Someday I'll be half as good as you with applying eyeshadow...maybe. 😂 I hope you feel better & have a great weekend!

That makes more sense. I feel like Ann”influencer” pushes something and if I get it…it’s never as good! If they would just be honest that would be nice. they lose credibility and money in the long run buying BSing people.

K just another reason why We all love you so much! You’re so right.. No one would be so transparent of online affiliates you just provided. Did you know that actually stores (companies) do the same exact thing?? My girlfriend was a manager at a Sephora in Toronto, Canada. She would call me beyond stressed having to push her staff daily to push the product of the day/week! Regardless if the consumers skin would benefit from the skincare or look good in their makeup products. Unfortunately so many people need professional advice in both areas and buy whatever the ‘TRAINED ARTISTS’ suggests. Pretty gross actually. Thankfully I don’t need anyones recommendations as I’ve been in this industry for 25 yrs but most do not have the knowledge. Honestly.. Sephora is one of my absolute favorite places to buy from! I’m legit obsessed.. hence I’m a Rouge member, but it doesn’t change the fact that Sephora DOES do that and it is pretty gross. FYI.. if anyone’s at Sephora and a customer service rep is helping you… if they’re REALLY pushing on one particular brand, just ask nicely if that’s the product of the week that they’re pushed to promote? Their reaction/face will say it all! On another note.. Love Love Love your videos and You 😘

Oh no, it’s okay! I talk about it publicly. Neurological Behçets is the underlying condition to pretty much everything; digestive issues, arthritis, and Glaucoma. The vision loss has been real this past year, so I’m back on low dose chemo to “manage” the underlying Behçets in the hopes it will slow my vision loss. You’re definitely not the only optometrist who’s confused by my age 🤣

Like I've said, I have Lupus and Psoriadic Arthtitis and am on Methtrixate and prednisone now, so I understand how difficult it can be. See if you can tolerate some protein rich drink. I also noticed you've lost weight. So, you may need an antiemetic or weed may work when all else fails. I've noticed the things you have been saying about social media and could agree more. I've stayed away from alot of these people. One person you discussed I tried to watch a video of and her voice and manner was so annoying watching, I had to stop in the first 2 mins.

That's exactly what they count on, you feeling some kind of connection. If you read through the comments on every channel, there are many that have a connection and just love whatever "influencer" it is. They gain your trust. They "take one for the team", when it's their job. It's all about selling products. Again, it's their job so I don't blame them but it is shady never the less. I like watching crime channels too. People are interesting.

I understand why people feel that way. But the flip side of “everyone with a platform takes a stand on everything” is “people with no idea what they’re talking about spreading misinformation from prominent positions”. To say nothing of the fact that I’ve spent most of the last two months sick in the bathroom; I’m not a foreign policy expert, or conflict expert, or history expert, and the industry I’m actually in is so huge and fast paced that I can barely keep up with it, much less the rest of the world. I do my best to put out what I want to see in the world, and to make as much of a positive difference as I can in MY area of knowledge. ♥️

Could “time-ism” be a good term? People in their late 20s and up have less time to devote to makeup. Shopping decisions aren’t based on posting on social media and likes. I don’t feel there’s anything bad about maturity. I have to remind people that the over mid 20s typically have more income so should be a better market. Returns cost.
