@@wayneegli8379 I respectfully disagree on your thoughts about that he wasn't a defensive threat. He made the All-NBA defensive team 15 times, which is the most ever. He also averaged 2.2 blocks per game throughout his entire career. He was quietly one of the best big defenders during his career.

@@benlevy6194I have 2 issues with Timmy, and those are minor considerations. 1. Tim played more as a center than a true power forward. 2. Tim was always respected, but never feared. As ironic as it sounds, a lot of players seemed to have a disrespect for Tim Duncan as he quietly would get his 2.5 blocks (your point) or his 12 rebounds. > Listen to Kevin Garnett talk about Duncan and that thought resonates. >> Tim's arc reminds me of John Stockton. Stockton would quietly get 16 pts, 14 assists, and 3 steals every night. Stockton was the purest point guard in the NBA, yet nobody feared Stockton even though he could and did dominate the point position. BTW, to put the cherry on top, Stockton had 207.7 career Win Shares and Tim Duncan had 206.4. >>> Tim Duncan is always a solid pick for an All-Time starting 5. The only consensus on any All-Time starting 5 is MJ at shooting guard. After that Tim Duncan is on about 2/3's of the starting 5s, just not mine. He is in my 2nd unit though. 1st Team: C - Wilt, PF - Lebron, SF - Bird, SG - Jordan, PG - Magic. 2nd Team: F/C - Duncan, F/C - Moses Malone, SG - Kobe, PG - Stockton, F/G - Oscar Robertson.

If you were doing an all time NBA draft, to play in any era, ever. Tim Duncan is probably the most stable and best option you can go with. He can check all time great 4s and 5s. Can play against tough and skilled players. Not ball dominant. All time great offensive. Top 5 great defensively. Can’t be moved. Can’t be stopped. Can’t be rocked. Can be a go to. Can defer.
