    Such a insane calculation by Magnus finding the draw instead of going for the win in a completely winning position. Watched it live and even the commentators couldn't belive it

    I was shocked at that queen g7. No one expected him to force a draw. Let alone in however many moves. It was legit genius play. Probably the best game ive ever seen i think. Magnus vs fabiano was really something in this tournament.

    although you totally right, but the bad scenario still could be playable. instead of Ne2, could be Nb3, and if black attack white bishop with pawn to d4, white could take the pawn by Rook

    Jeez, it looked like there were 100 squares on the board and 80 chess pieces. They were spread out over the entire board with each sides king being attacked, along with a lot of central activity. To even try and understand the move order and all the possible lines is mind boggling. This is one of those games where the game was PLAYING the PLAYERS, not the other way around.

    At 9:07..... Why not take the pawn on d4 with the rook? I keep my defenders for c1 and it prevents the bishop taking e4....

    I checked it with an engine, and that's actually one of the better moves. Idk why, but sometimes Agad shows weird lines.

    Next time you guys play chess. Just try and go at the game with the idea that you are going to force a draw instead of trying to mate. To see just how absolutely genius this game was. With so many pieces on the board.

    Isn't Armageddon primarily used for determining the winner in a tied match? As far as I know, there aren't any points awarded during this phase of chess tournaments.

    The precise attack on Black's King was so irrational during real time play, especially when White needs to sacrifice the Knight twice. I think only magicians like Tal would dare to play such moves on the board.

    We're in the chess golden age and need to enjoy it while it lasts. With the rise of video games and the strength of chess engines, less and less youngster's are going to be spending the time (their whole life) becoming as good as people like Fabiano or Magnus.

    After the moves you mentioned, Carlsen plays Rf1+ and is up an exchange Full line: Bxd6 Nxh2 Nxg7 Rf1+ Rxf1 Nxf1 It looks dead lost for white Edit: Having watched the video for another 20 sec after the point you mentioned, you can see that they entered this exac position, only by first taking the queen and then Bxd6.
