Diablo 2 costed $50 ($40 on xmas discount) and it's been a live service game for 24 years. Starcraft has been a live service game for 26 years. Warcraft 3 costed $40 and it's still getting patches after 20 years. Let's not damn with faint praises using low standards of today's triple A games.

Benefits of a small studio. They had plenty of money to begin with, and they understood how to add things into their game without massively tweaking the original coding. Money surplus+small studio+ easy coding =infinite updates

No Man's Sky is ridiculous right now. I remember watching Avatar back in 2010 and thinking what if a video game was like what we saw on planets like Pandora. Amazing to see how much like that world I'm exploring and more, especially with these new space stations. Kudos to Murray and Hello Games.

I’m calling it: A year from now, they’ll add huge cities on planets. Doubt it’ll be city-planets, but I’d wager if there’s ever a sequel, then they’d have them eventually.

I don't think they wanted to advertise ship customization because its not finished. You notice in the trailer they showed shuttles being customizable yet you can only craft 3 types. I think it's unfinished but they wanted to drop this orbital update and it was part of the redesign.

I hope it is not finished becaus tbh what one can do now is make an already excisting type of ship and just give it your own colors. It would be a lot more awesome if one could interchange the parts and if all types of ships would give parts.

I bought NMS about 2 years ago and only had about 1 hour of gameplay in it, before I discarded it(as back then, I didn't care for the graphics that much & was more accustomed to arcade-style space shooters.) I now have 5 hours into it & I'm loving ever Nano second of it! The many updates have improved this game exponentially & I can't get enough of this magnificent game(as it has all of the elements that make it the perfect space game.) I still love my Everspace 2 game, but I have ignored that game since I picked NMS back up.

@@rodolphesimon295 "need more survival", the game is literally HELL starting off, you probably will get blasted by Toxic/Freezing/Fire Storms depending on what planet your on, and not to mention you have to monitor 2 different life support systems to keep your self alive at all times, though i see why you would say that, after a couple of hours the gameplay does because easier and maybe enough so that it becomes boring and you might compare it to playing on creative instead, but if you take it all away and see no man's sky for what it really is (a space exploration game) then it might just give you another perspective, anyway thx for reading this i guess lol, have a good day/night :D

I've put a few hundred hours into this game over the years. I usually play it into the ground for a while, it gets old, then I don't play it for a year or two and come back and they've added so much stuff that it's almost like a new game. But all my stuff is still there (usually, this last time I logged on after two years, a bunch of my ship parts where in inventory instead of attached to the ship, but oh well). All of my outposts still there, it's pretty cool. I had gotten to the point where I had maxed out on money and pretty much everything, so it's nice to know I didn't lose any of that. I was in the process of creating a cabin vacation area and also a high-end luxury hotel when I quit last time. Might have to finish the hotel, had a highway leading to it and everything. I was pretty much done with the cabins, office, and clubhouse. If you ever come across "Sunset Plateau Cabins" on a beautiful planet in an unsettled system, that's my work!

It's already been 7 years?! That's scary. I remember this game hyped so much one of the most im gaming history because it was initially so ambitious but delivered few of it's promises at launch. Has any other game ever before made a monumental comeback like this with continued support?

the division 1 has made a comeback after the changes and you can't forget cyberpunk... that game is almost perfect by now But even then these games were from big studios. So kudos to NMS

Starsector is a 14 year old game and still receiving updates, costs $15 to buy and is developed essentially by one person. One of the best games ever made, it's basically mount and blade in space, and is extremely polished and has a huge mod community. There are many games like that on PC, most of which are not well known to current plebs who only know Steam and the heavily marketed games.

As a massive Star Trek fan, I think it would be the coolest thing to be able to have other players as members of a crew. Maybe a two-man crew on small ships and an entire crew on your freighters. And you would have NPC’s as standard crew to take over when your players are not on.

I've had the game for a long time but never played it. I'm glad I didn't. Now when I finally do I get to have so much more content coming in completely blind. The only can under my face is whether to play soon, or wait a few more years and see What more crazy stuff they do.

Still hoping for a larger variety of animal and plant life.

I'm waiting for that, and for the space exploration to actually feel worth the time. Once you've seen the planet biomes, you've seen the "infinite" universe. It gets stale really quick. There's no existential dread, no larger than life elements, nothing to be truly fearful of exploring into. It's space "like", without any of the components that make space interesting.

I'm guessing they figured out this tech for Light No Fire and decided to retrofit it back in NMS

I just randomly got this game for my Switch Emulator the other day...not even realizing the updates. I had alot of texture issues...so I just got the PS5 version. Pretty fun game. Since I'm a Playstation guy, I can't play Starfield, so this works out for me.

I discarded NMS 2 years ago...but after all of the updates, I'm obsessed with NMS. I always preferred consoles(but PC's do have a big selection of space games)...but with NMS...it's really the only space game one needs(though I do have Everspace 2 on PS5)...but I haven't touched it since I picked NMS back up.

Don’t worry you will have more fun with NMs than Starfield. After finishing Starfield I think NMs is a better space exploration game for sure

I hope they add teraforming tech so you cab customize planets in 24hrs to what you want and customize the fauna and everything. Also planet buliding and new sentinal race customization.

I am impressed. They found a way to make ship building without ruining ship hunting. In fact, I have been doing more just seeking out all the various parts to have stashed away.

honestly im tempted to get back into this game, i stopped playing cos i switched platforms and didn't have the urge to immediately buy it again but if it goes on sale i might pick it up

lol I have that exact ship model, that you ended up with, for years. Only differend colors. :)

Planets fidelity now need an overhaul because everything in Space feels like a different gen.

Im loving it over 400 hrs over two years pure freedom exploration building ships mechs planets just have fun an meet new people.

I'd love it if I could have a freighter and a dreadnought in my fleet, but I would also like them to make better use of the inside space of the ships rather then just the area behind the bridge at the top of there conning towers.

I think they’re doing a really good job with it. I’ve been kind of hoping that some of the planets would have different climate zones instead of being executive, the same across the whole planet. Also planets that are title, locked. one side, never sees daylight.

I still can't completely jump in, I really need some good ground combat

Question: Did they also fixed that bug where things put into the Freighter Refiner would just vanish? Because that one made me actually angry. Not because of lost resources, but because I lost them same way two updates before.

I came back after 5 years stopped playing before there were even expeditions can you even inmagine my shock when i repaired my ship and went to a space station i knew there was new stuff but my god everything has changed on this game i remember the first freighters we didnt even have windows and we were hapoy as hell with them now everything has changed on freighters the autphage stuff is awesome and i lately did the a drift expedition and it was fully worth it new ship paint some unique items and that ship it has the mandolorian cockpit

I need to play this. I may get it as soon as I finish Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the rest of my backlog of games.

@@pinkyfinger9851 Honestly I think it is, but a lot of things were taken out of the first game. For example, some monsters that were really fun to fight were taken out. Some items, and even really good Vocations got left out. Other vocations got buffs, however some got weaker. The romance system is still horrible, so be careful if you do get this game. Now the fighting is something I haven’t gotten tired of at all. I’m at around 270 hours on my first playthrough, just grinding and fighting the Drakes for their crystals. I highly recommend trying every vocation and unlocking all of them too. It makes things easier to navigate. Also talk to everyone you see and good portion of them will give you tips on certain things. The missions are cool and some have a time limit that can hurt other quests and the NPCs around you and them. For example, a boy is trapped in a wolf cave and if you don’t get to him in time he dies. If you end up saving him he lives and you get a permanent discount at his grandpaw’s shop. Overall it’s a really fun game that could’ve been better if the story expanded on certain things. I think it’s worth, but it is a $70 game, so much sure y’all get your money’s worth of it before you start.

This game is just so chilling and beautiful and somehow I just can't get into it, I really would like but I can't. I wish there would be a NMS + Elite Dangerous hybrid game

Love what they have done till now. Hope that we get 1- creature update, 2- terrain variation (rivers and waterfalls) 3- Mele weapons and combat/foe update. 4- new story mode with cinemátics and voice.

There's no need to restart. I've had my same character for over 600 hours. There's "so far" never been a need to restart (aside from expeditions). But even with those just get through it and claim the goodies on your main save. Might take a few minutes to get back into the swing of it.. But NMS is like riding a bike. I recently notice I have one ship I've had for over 2yrs.

I will say this... it has been a while since I have said WOW out loud playing a video game... and I said WOW when I saw the new space stations. Going down that tunnel on a brand new playthrough for a first time player, with the NMS Rock playing... I wish I could have that experience, cus it was pretty epic even with the old style but now its just like... my god, remember what this game used to look like!?!? My god Hello Games made up for the release and then some. I think their ambitions were just too big for the current tech of the time.

Unfortunately the red and black Atlas Staff multi-tool is from an expedition that happened just before this update. So unless you use a save editor, or they cycle the expedition back in, you won't be able to get it. You can still get other staff multi-tools though. But you need to go through the Artemis quest line first before you can start the quest line to be able to make staff multi-tools.

now just need 100 ship slots

Please make all expeditions available instead of limited time modes

What Starfield wishes it was.

I loved No Mans Sky but stopped playing for a long time. When I came back to try it after multiple updates, I felt overwhelmed and turned it off after 15 minutes. It's a completely different game in a good way, but I just did not want to re-learn inventory and the UI.

Now where's Light No Fire?

The game needs a 2024 review it’s a 10/10

I do wish they would clean up/improve their inventory and character creator and boost ground combat complexity a bit. I like running around as my pilot. Rest of the game is bonkers though.

Said it before and I'll say it again: we live in a golden age of gaming.

I just desperately wish they’d allow any expedition to be run at anytime. I hate the time gated stuff. I play a million other games, and real life to deal with. Sucks missing out on all those cool rewards

Yeah. It was a reward from the expedition that was going on just before this update. Same one that gets you the staff too.

I love this game but just some much shit that you can do overwhelms me I put in 30 hours a year. beautiful game, going in and out of a planet will always amaze me

I loved No Man's Sky since Day One, even whith all the shortcomings, and defended it against the trash talking and silly herd crusades of the community. I am glad this game has evolved despite all the unwarranted hate. It's one of the best games ever, period...and they still keep going, these guys are somethig else.

as someone who loves no man's sky, those hate were warranted. it's never a good practice to release a broken game then fix it later.

i would love to get back into this game, i just cant enjoy its mining and crating mechanics and inventory management, if it was more like Valheim or eve online maybe i would.

Let's Just pray that Shaun Murray provides us with enhanced pixels in the future to enhance our graphics in No man's Sky. I am so happy that Hello games are generous they charge us nothing to enjoy our DLC in no mans sky for free with updates. These updates are Extra content alone. And they never remove good beneficial content like other game companies do because other game companies suck. Hello games are the best!

The only bug I encountered, was when I first started out in NMS 2 days ago from scratch(wherein I had left my ship to gather resources and when I came back, my ship was suspended in mid-air & I couldn't access it.) So...I just simply closed out the app & restarted it & everything was fine.

All I’ve ever wanted was the super formula 😔

I don't know, having to find your S class ship on worlds you explore was half the fun. If you can just build an S class its too easy. I felt the same when they changed it so you could just Upgrade to S class. Then when I had a S class I felt like the game was over as there wasn't much else to achieve.

The game is too boring. Collecting those salvage modules (and you need tons of them) is a good example of that. No wonder why so many people are using exploits to make the game less boring.

@@user-ev4ov6wr1d The Game is good for 100 hours then its time for a new game. I also played it in VR, and in VR its really awesome. I remember sitting in my ship waiting for a storm to pass. The sounds of rain hitting my canopy above me. Then over the hill a bunch of creatures appeared and started milling around my ship and I watched them from inside my ship as they moved on all sides. It was surreal.

Took 7 years and yet it sucks with so many limitations. I do love this game but I absolutely hate the ship customization! Hate how it works. Hate all the limitations. And yes I’ve actually tried it so I’m forming my opinion based on actual experience and not what I’ve heard about it. Will always love this game but I don’t think I’ll be doing much ship customization.

It literally has a story and several side missions.

So few years until its decently playable

The roadmap has been phenomenal but I still have no reason to play it. No purposeful advancement. Even think ship design isn't that good. The discovery of trying to get an S class Fighter was more fun.

I stopped playing NMS everything is a hassle to do in game.

The games needs more.. a lot more. Space isnt dangerous enough. Space creatures, and pirates arent dangerous enough. Ur pilots in your squad are pretty useless. The alien factions should be fighting one another, esp in systens with conflict, with multiple stations and tech representing each faction present. Where are all the gas giants. Species territories should be better defined throughout the galaxy. More species representing those other aliens u see on the anomaly should exist as well. Or in differing proportion on presence in different galaxies, with their own differing tech. Speaking of, all monoliths look like they belong to one ancient species but yet somehow belong to the big 3. Pets are lackluster at best. More flora and fauna types needed. Omg list goes on. 200 hours in and about one month later. Getting bored. I have a laudrg list of more issues I have nvm the mission and multiplayer jank. This took 7 years? Dafuq was yall doing? Overall.. 7 out of 10, I guess. As I go, ths rating kinda goes down. 😢

Did you play the original game? I’m assuming not. Did you at least see how the progression of the game occurred? Have you seen any of the videos about the sheer technical achievements of the game that would make Starfield blush? Some of us don’t need space to be dangerous, ya know?

The new ship builder is a JOKE it brought people back to play and they left again.. Get the modules is a joke and to much work, shit just let us buy them parts needed at this point, and no BLACK color and the very very very limited looks to the ships makes it a JOKE>

Just don't like games that are farm driven. Did it for many years on massive online games like EQ, WOW and so on. I just would rather enjoys games for exploring, combate, very little economic/farming so I am not enslaved and trapped trying to upgrade or build. No Mans Sky is massive and to keep bouncing from planet to planet or cruisers to buy, trade, build if I want better stuff instead of being out there enjoying the content.
