"Siren" tells a very soft, emotional story that explores both the dangers and rewards of love, sexual desire, and companionship. The characters have an almost melancholic appearance, contrasting with the very dark circumstances of Peironella's fairy tale. The main character leads a sad existence, self-exiling from people and the world to simply live a safe and full life-as full as a being can live, given that their very existence creates a desire so strong that it becomes dangerous to be near men, and in women, there is a hatred so deep that connection with other women is equally perilous.
I like this story; the characters are so tragic, like poor little bundles of lost emotions just wandering the world, longing for something more. The cast gives very enchanting and convincing performances, really drawing you into this dark fantasy. "Siren" indeed has some tense, slightly gripping moments. However, for the most part, it's really just a tense and dramatic character study. What makes Peironella's story so interesting and captivating is that it focuses more on the scientific and biological phenomenon that gives rise to qualities akin to a "siren" in Lee, rather than on the mythical creature hiding in the world of humans. It's almost as if this script could resemble the one that centuries ago spawned legends of sirens.
Overall, "Siren" is more melodrama than thriller. It's a very good film that is fully modern fantasy. The atmosphere is at times very "Nicholas Sparks," but a bit darker. The cast is excellent, and the setting is beautiful, with whimsical pieces of artistry. The plot unfolds slowly, and there's no heavy horror element in the film, so it might be disappointing for most horror fans. I would say if you occasionally enjoy modern fantasy/fairy tale themes with a slight touch of Nicholas Sparks, then "Siren" is the perfect film.

I incidentally ran across this film. Almost did not watch it and would have kept scrolling. I read the comments and changed my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I feel lucky to have been given the slim chance to watch it.
Very interesting, unique & entertaining movie! Very well made. The young lady has something really special about her !

@jorgeestomb, She has a pheromone, a smell that comes out from her body, it's true, maybe I have it too, because women are easily attracted to me since I was in grade IV at elementary school, and one time when I got sick my attendant told me, you are the only man that have not taken a bath for one week but you still smell good. I just search pheromone before I watch this movie...
