"NO IDEA - POUCH JOURNAL" FOR 2024! STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL & IDEAS TO USE IT

The first video in 2024! How crazy does it feel to say that?! And, more importantly, what does one wish for in a community like ours? Of course, I could say: Happy New Year to all of you out there! And, of course, I wish you an absolutely fantastic new year, but I have another, special wish for each and every one of you out there. I wish for you never to run out of ideas for junk journal projects! And connected to that, I have an idea for you that can help you exactly with that: finding, capturing, and making notes about ideas, as well as keeping special little things to not forget them or to use them as a reminder for a future idea. Let's create a "NO IDEA - POUCH JOURNAL" together!

What a way to kick off the New Year! I love this journal although I fear I am not organized enough to use it effectively. I do desperately need an idea/instruction journal so I will probably give this a shot. I’ll keep you posted. 😅 Please never apologize for your English, it is terrific. I can never fathom how you come up with new ideas, do two videos with one in a language that is not your native language, edit them, upload them, read comments, create digitals, answer emails, pay your bills, make for Tim Holtz , still have time to sleep and eat, maybe spend time with friends or Hubby (who is not your hubby) and now we find out play the saxophone! You are a marvel and I ❤ you! Looking forward to being amazed and inspired in 2024.

Louise, you shouldn't feel embarrassed about words because English is not your mother language. You should feel proud because you already speak better English than some people who live here. I wish those people would give as much time and dedication to learning to speak English.

Oh LUISE! I must be having an emotional new year. Hearing you talk about finding the right words was so heartwarming in more ways than you might think. I’m also a junk journaler and I’m an eclectic creative artist. I have my own little KZread channel where I get to connect with a few like minded people out there in the world who seem to share my arty inclinations too. I like the sense of being able to share a bit of arty play with a few others. It’s less lonely. The junk journaling community has been wonderful for me. One of the reasons I pursued this was because I’m a mum, but also a full time carer for my teenage boy. Both my boys have some neurodivergent disabilities, but my youngest also can’t speak. He has some words and can say some things, but finding the words is extremely difficult. The older he gets, the less patient people can sometimes be. It’s hard for him. Hearing you talk about the warmth of this community made me remember that most people are amazing - but also - what a difference it really makes when we just take the time to listen to someone and connect. He and I do lots of art together and it’s our language, along with music and movement. It’s how our whole family connects. Dad (& my hubby) is a musician & as I say, I’m an artist. Creativity keeps this family afloat & helps our hearts sing together. Big brother is a natural performer & creative too. And that creative spirit is how we all communicate with you, LUISE, too. I feel like it helps me understand you a little better thinking about your English from the perspective of my son. It makes me feel even more connected (from a distance all the way over in Australia). I know I’m very strange, but thank you for everything you bring to us 😘

I’m a follower of yours too, I also got a bit emotional hearing her talk. You’re not alone. 😊 Music and Art have always been my creative outlets (for my Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety, & other health issues) and both have been ways of connecting with others. So I can totally relate to what you’re saying. Music and Art are in essence both universal languages that can touch the heart in unexplainable ways. If I had to choose between the two, I just don’t think I could do it! They’re both vital to me and my overall wellbeing. Anyways…HAPPY NEW YEAR Jen!! ❤

This is an amazing journal and a perfect storage spot to save those goodies. Reminded me of a friend's father who made a small box to put all the odds and ends of little things you find on the floor. He called it his "God knows box" because you never know what it came from when you find something.

This is an amazing project! You are SO thorough with your explanations of why you're doing so many of the details. I recommend you to everyone for journal making. These videos always make me feel so close to others, and I consider them friends as well. I only wish we could be closer and come to each other's little messy places and play together with our ideas and beloved papers and glue. My grandparents were German and spoke it fluently. Wish I'd been taught as a child. I think probably they wanted to blend in quietly here given the time period.

Ok my favorite line from this video is “ don’t ask why I have so many letters leftover, I am Luise Heinzl, this can happen on my desk.” That should be in a frame sitting on your desk. “ I am Luise Heinzl this can happen on my desk.” Look at you just embracing all the chaotic wonder that breeds creativity!! I love it! This project is just what I needed right too! I think I will use Barbara’s palate bag soft cover idea with the flapped pocket on the side. 🤔 I think I will make both ends of the cover pocketed and I will take your idea for a firm spine and combine them to make this wonderful “ no idea” idea. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us in your real and natural manner and for an exciting start to 2024.

30:36 If you look at the pouch on the right, there is a face of a grumpy old man looking up & it looks like his lower half is separated away from him & on the left, it looks like a horse in the middle with a man lying on the ground about to get trampled 🫢. Maybe the story goes from left to right - a man fell off his horse, got run over & ended up separated in half 😳🫣😁 Oh well. I love the way the pouches have turned out & love that colour combo!

I wish I had seen this a few months ago. I wanted to make a journal for my mother in law to use for her daily prayers. I noticed she has pictures of people she is praying for throughout her bible. They are all different sizes and they fall out, etc. I WANTED pouches but didn't know how to incorporate them into her bible journal. I ended up just adding a lot of tuck spots, etc. for her to put her pics and then write down her favorite verses from the bible. Or make notes for WHY she is praying for that particular person. But THIS would have been so perfect!!!!! I could have still included the tuck spots for people she only prays for as they need it but the pouches would have allowed her to put the pictures of her family members, etc. who she prays for everyday. I do love your "ideas" journal and think it's an amazing idea and one that I really need. So I will make an idea journal for me and maybe another prayer journal for my mother in law. Loved the whole thing!!!!

Maybe the term is a “workable” length of thread? Other creators seem to use 3x to bind but since you are doing a more elaborate binding, maybe 4x? 5x? I guess the first signature will tell you. I love the wood thing you have for binding and love that you provide alternatives, too! More awesomeness!

Great idea. I often find things in my stash I want to use while I am working on something else. This journal would be a great place to put them until I finish what I am working on.

Love you and as always thank you for sharing your amazing tutorials last year, I appreciate your efforts ❤

I'm working on my first junk journal and have been struggling trying to figure out the binding. I have watched a shit ton of videos and still not getting it. Here I am trying again and start watching your video and it finally all made sense, i just punched the holes in and everything lined up just right. Finally I can sew my signature in. Thank you so much. Love you and your videos so much.

Wow, wonderful video! It is so filled with great ideas, inspiration and excellent instructions. I’ve saved it in my book binding file. Thank you so much for sharing (so patiently) all your knowledge about putting together a journal, and a storage solution. I think a “no idea” journal will be so useful.

I feel that I watch your channel to learn new ideas. Uou are always doing wonderful things on your channel. So I, for one, will be continuing to watch your channel. And yes, empathize and empathy are both correct. I feel like as a viewer and creator, it is important to be kind to each other. So we definitely want you to be appreciated! I'm very glad I found your channel.

Blessing and the best for you in this new year. This is such a great idea! Not because I do not have ideas, but because I have so many ideas, I can't keep track of them. Yes, I will make a Many ideas inventory pouch journal. ❤

Yes empathetic is the correct word and the word that I believe your looking for, it means to be understanding to someone basically. And the "proper" grammer would be to say 'well ' instead of 'good'- but nobody really uses "proper English" anymore 😄😅😉 lol, so we would say 'good' just like you did! Your catching on and doing great! Love your videos.

My goodness, Luise...after Dephemerember I thought you'd be all "dried up", but here you are again with an absolutely brilliant project to kick off 2024! My first thought is that I HAVE to make one of these "No Idea Pouch Journals" for myself, but I also think they'd make fabulous gifts for others in my life....students, office clerks, teachers, project managers, graphic designers, etc, etc! Thank you for the inspiration and for the great tutorial with all the valuable tips and tricks. By the way, if you're not sure of the English word for something, I'd be very happy to learn the German one 😉 As you pursue your hopes and dreams, may 2024 bring you much success and may your journey be wonderful! ❤

I freaking LOVE the pouches as a cover! I have my nanny’s old buttons (I love buttons) and birds are one of my favorite things. I need to make this….I’m going to make this. I love everything about this project. I already use a common place notebook to write down ideas, but perhaps it needs a new cover. Thank you for all you do to share your ideas with us. Happy creative new year!

Empathy- a beautiful english word and quality! Funny you say you feel we (Junk journaling community) are your friends. After finishing a wonderful Dephemerember again this year I was just thinking how amazing it is that if I from Canada was to be in Austria, I would only need to hear you or Barbra's voice(49dragonflys) on the street and instantaneously recognize your voice and run over to offically meet you feeling I was in the company of a friend. The world just feels a little bit smaller now! Fyi your English would allow us to converse whereas my German would not get us far :)

@louise -- Last year my daughter moved near the Black Forest in Germany. You were talking about learning English and it reminded me of how she is immersing herself into the German language and has come across such nice people who are very encouraging just as you mentioned for your experience. I love your art. Beautiful and I like how you come up with solutions as you go.

No idea pouch journal is such a good idea! Especially for traveling. For home I personally have a small basket with an-easy-to-open-and-close (hinged) lid. I drop my ‘no ideas’ there. To write down unexpectedly appearing thoughts about next project I use Evernote app on my phone as it is (with its built-in wallet) always with me. Still I see a lot of applications for a pouch journal and would hand-stitch the pouch and built the zipper into it gladly (sewing machine is not an option for me). Thanks for this idea!
