No Fuel, No Passage Plan - CHAOS Everywhere on the Ship!
Ойын-сауық
Episode 2 - First Day ONBOARD My NEW MAERSK Ship
In this video, I will be showing you my struggle to manage multiple operations while taking over the ship as a newly promoted second officer.
Singapore is one of the busiest port in the world which has a quick turn around time for container ships. Its definitely not an ideal port to join a vessel, especially for a newly promoted officer.
You will witness the raw emotions I had during the take over & also the lessons learnt post that.
Merchant navy has various departments & I am from the Navigation department. I have recently been promoted to the rank of a 2nd Officer onboard Maersk Ship.
Enjoy the video & don't forget to give it a big thumbs up if you found the video informative .
Also for those who are new to the channel - I am Karanvir Singh Nayyar , a second officer in Maersk , vlogging my Life At Sea Journey.
So don't forget to hit that subscribe button & turn the bell notification on ;) if you wish to watch my life from the 7 oceans in the world.

@@KaranvirSinghNayyar Happy independence day.
Karan, I understand what you mean a lot. When you said you could not sleep, and the anxiety and stress makes the mind play tricks on you to seek comfort. Sometimes, when you say things like that, I wonder how can someone say things that sound so wise beyond their years. It makes me really appreciate your videos even more. Thank you.

Great video. With everything new, there is usually chaos at first. But everything new takes time. I think after a half-year break, you need something to get used to everyday work again. I wish you, your crew and your new ship a safe journey and stay healthy.💙💖🙏⚓🚢👋👩

Absolutely Ute you are right Thanks for tuning back in
Hey, there! I watched your video and completely understand your feelings. My previos voyage was my 1st as a 2nd Officer, and it was a big chaos in my mind, after the previos 2nd mate signed - off. I was worried about the passage plan, the medical locker, etc. But after the 10th day on board I realised it was much much easier. The first few days on board are always scary, nerveous and you miss home. But that's the way it is. Have a safe voyage and stay positive! All the best!

Rely cool video. Awesome insight to your job and life at sea. Thanks for sharing Karanvir!
What helps for me is: always remember what you always wanted to do, why you wanted to do it, how many people would love to do what you do and how many people you help with what you do. Feel the rythm of the mashine in combination with nature; treat the ship like it a good friend or pet, love the sea you run through; you might not be free in reality but you might be able to feel the freedom of sailing and accept the set destination as a personal destination. Imagine how many man and children stand at the beach wishing they could sail that beautiful ship. And remember that you transport precious cargo, which might save someones life later.

Thanks for the video. I am a Captain too. A much smaller scale. I have crossed oceans on my sailboat and captained ferries. I know exactly what you mean on not sleeping. I know the pressure that you have gone through. Time and experience will change this, in about two vessel changes, you will experience the calm cool feeling that "I" am more than capable of being a 2/0. Note, Chief officer experience will be FUN - Enjoy your youth and stay "CALM" Always remember, every criticism/compliment, is a learning curve. I have never worked the far East to East Africa, I shall look forward to your future blogs.

Hey KSN, First, your videos are getting better and better every time. Great improvements all the way! I also loved the shot on bunker barge and the cruise ship passing in the background :) Secondly, your videos are really informative and I hope future seafarers can learn from it. Then, I really like to watch your video cause it’s a sort of a break for me - it is totally relaxing and fun at the same time. Keep it you! On the other side, I wish it was longer!! 😭😭 And last, just a short question -can you elaborate on Danish vs. Singaporean flag ship? Are the way of working different or regulations or what?

That was a lot of things happening all at once! Great advice too. I've discovered those things myself - take notes, one thing at a time (unless there's something that can easily be interwoven with what you're doing), and get enough rest because tired people make mistakes. You mentioned Singapore to Africa? Are you headed anywhere near the areas off East Africa where there has been pirate activity? Good luck, stay safe!

Great video, Karanvir! I really felt for you that first day on the ship. 4 hours to get all that information and find everything, with so many other things going on and having this new responsibility was making my head spin! 😂 I know you'll figure it all out and feel better real soon! What is the name of the ship? I saw 'Cape' but not the rest of the name. Can you explain how the onboard cranes are used in a future video please? Do the cranes allow you to unload and load containers yourself in small ports? Thanks for the great video :) ❤️
