No Cut Afterthought Buttonhole

Materials:
Your Project
Removable St Markers
Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle
Matching yarn or thread
Work on the back side (WS).
Step 1: Mark the placement of your Buttonholes on the back side
Step 2: Place your crochet hook where you want the Buttonhole and use it to make the space larger.
Step 3: Pick a direction, find the first 2 sts/loops and place your crochet hook under both. Pull the further st under, then over the closer st.
Step 4: Skip the first st, but find the next st after that and also place that st on your crochet hook.
Step 5: Tack these 2 sts together by using your tapestry needle and scrap yarn/thread and circling the two sts a couple times.
Step 6: Weave in the yarn and head to the other side. leave your needle attached, but let it hang.
Step 7: Turn your work and repeat Steps 3-5 on the other side.
Step 8: Weave in both ends.
Yay, buttonholes!
If you need a larger buttonhole, you can work Step 3 a second time in either or both directions. This method does have some limitations, as you are stretching the fabric out, but I find much less scary than the idea of cutting the yarn. And it's a great technique to plan out your buttons after you are done, in case you want a different number of buttons than recommended, your row gauge differed from the designer's, etc.
Hope this helps! 💕
