Where was the expansion vessel for heating?? I had similar issue on a job before Christmas all safety features done on hot water side but no prv or vessel for heating side, could have been boxed in somewhere but no way I was taking a chance as I couldn't find either and customer didn't know.

The white expansion vessel is for the portable water side of the system but I didn't see the heating system expansion vessel, which is normally red. Also how is the heating water heated? Is that an electric or heatpumped system? He might still have a flat or broken expansion vessel causing the loss of water and thus pressure. Lovely house though and great visuals in the video.

Once again can happen. But normally diaphragm may have lost pressure. Maybe be down to .1bar. you still get air from Schroeder valve but huge system expansion when hot. So diaphragm needs to be recharged if req.

It’s quite common in new builds to have the towel rads tee off on the primary flow and return so when the cylinder gets heated up, the towel rails come on too, in preparation for showers/dry towels etc.

I also have a gravity system in a bungalow. I'm a DIYer, not an expert plumber (hence why I love this channel), but I know every inch of my system now. When I do a refill I start at the top (loft) and bleed the two top spurs of pipe (don't know the technical name) that protrude from a tee on the outward and return main runs of pipe. I then go back downstairs and work my way around the radiators with a bleed key and rag. Because these are all on the same level I don't believe the sequence matters - I haven't been able to discern a pattern anyway. The air wants to go upwards, not sideways, so it doesn't matter if I start on the furthest away or nearest to the boiler (solid fuel Rayburn). It's just a game of splat the rat, or vent the bubble. If everything else is fine then eventually the air loses the fight and the radiators get hot. One thing to watch is if the radiators don't get hot and the boiler overheats; rare, but can happen. I had this earlier this year and it took me far too long (I'm not a plumber) to realise a piece of insulation had found its way into the old open-top heating expansion tank (which had an insulated lid) and blocked the exit pipe, preventing the boiler being topped up. Sounds simple and silly I know, but I'd drained and refilled the system and thought I'd done something catastrophic; the small sodden piece of fibreglass that had been lying at the bottom of the tank for probably years was sucked onto the exit hole when the system drained and I didn't discover it until the refill and relight. I've now ripped out all the old plumbing and refitted with brand new closed-lid tanks and some better pipe routing. And a new Wilo pump. Assuming you've got heat in the radiators you then need to rebalance the system; stay with the Plumberparts channel and look for the video 'How to Balance Heating System Radiators - Plumbing Tips'. You'll need some pliers/grips and some patience, but by adjusting the stoplock valve (the one with the small plastic hood) you can get the right amount of heat you need for each room. Also make sure you have a modulating central heating pump by the way, which reduces the pumping pressure as it detects a thermostatic control valve (TRV) on a radiator close; that will save you some pennies on your electricity bill. Anyway, best of luck.

I had similar issue, when moving into my new house the gas boiler internal expansion vessel was leaking. The plumber came out recommended that i just disconnect old one and he will install external one. The reason he did that is because the gas boiler is over 25 years and they don't make parts for it anymore. He installed the expansion vessel and left. I started to notice the system losing pressure and the plumber would tell me to refill the system. The plumber couldn't figure out why the system was losing pressure and it costing me money from the plumber changing parts that he thought was causing the issue.. I got sick of guy as he was costing me money. so I rang another plumber. The plumber asked me for make and model. Then wanted to know what last plumber did. He came to house asked me to show him where the expansion vessel was installed. He checked it out he told me the last plumber installed oversize expansion vessel for the system so the diaphragm wasn't moving at all to allow hot water in so the water just flowing out through the safety valve outside. He fixed the issue and spent 10 mins in the house to make sure that everything was good and also service the boiler. It just goes to show some people don't know what the hell they doing and costing people money.

Is it possble you just had a leaking PRV which may not have closed after being opened by an over pressure event? (cause by debris and dirt in the system) I would be interested in the physics behind the idea that an expansion vessel was too big. It might be fitted in the wrong place, flat or too small. Never heard of "too big" as a problem though. I believe plumberparts has a video on how to clean a PRV but it is, usually, just as fast to replace them as they are quite cheap.
