My uncle was an artist and I remember him telling me stories of him starting out with zero money. I'm german and obviously so is my uncle. He grew up in the 50s right after the end of the war, so he literally had nothing. However, he wanted to paint, so one of his first brushes was a stick with leftovers of an old broom attached to it. Worked out perfectly fine for him. I always try to remember that, when I think you need expensive supplies to create nice things. You really don't, but especially as a beginner they can help tremendously. And they sure last longer than a stick with some bristles taped to it... So everyone in the comments who's poor: It's gonna be fine, don't let that hold you back ;D

me: *tells my dad i want gluesticks for school, hoping i can get colored pencils too* my dad: *gets one from the cabinet* me: my pain is immeasurable and my day is ruined

Every artist's dream! Oh how i wish i could brouse my local art store and pickup anything and everything I wanted, on a whim. That day isn't here yet, may never be. Though there will be a day when Inam financially secure and living comfortably off of being an artist. Though as it is now, I already spend as much (and depending on the month) sometimes even more money on my art supplies, than I earn off selling my art. Lol . I'm far from rich. I've only been doing art professionally for like 4 months now. Still so new and learning how. I may not be financially rich, but art makes me so rich in fulfillment. As a self taught portrait artist, it is alwaus such an honor to be a part of something so special and I hope healing for others. That's why I love doing what I do most! I am humbled and greatful for where I've made it and am at currently on my journey. Just to be earning any money off my art, is incredibly humbling and already a dream realized for me. Financial stability will come. It'll come after a long time of pushing yourself especially in those moments or spans of time when you're not enjoying it and it feels like a chore. Dont forget your dreams in those moments and continue. That's greatness. That's when results happen and when dreams come true. The reason it's rare to see people live their dream, is because it's not easy. There will ALWAYS be struggles on your way and it can become difficult to manifest your future because you're stuck in your current circumstances in your head. While you should always be thankful for the current moment. You also need to manifest your future by changing 2 things. Your thoughts and what you say to yourself. Don't let your negative thoughts fool you or control you. It's irrational, I promice! Believe in you! Trust yourself, invest in yourself and continue to push through! Especially when you'd rather give up. That's greatness! That's when dreams come true. Its not gonna be easy...but nothing worth having ever is. What is WILL be, is worth it! You're worth it! So go out and do the damn thing!! ♡ Sorry I got on a bit of a rant there. Lol.

Pencil, but you can also have copic markers, pens and some erasers

I use like a bunch of different brands ranging from cheap and super expensive and I like and use Crayola so I guess I'm here lol

when you're an artist, you go to a full-fledged art supplies store with everything you need, you just go, "I WANNA BUY EVERYTHING" and you can't choose ;w;
