I just bought these. My three year old gets frustrated when trying to color pictures of himself because he can’t find his shade. He was excited to swatch all the colors and found a perfect match in “light golden”. He put it in his “special box”. I noticed the crayons break *easily* . I reenforced the unbroken ones after several snapped.

That's adorable. I never understood how they could have such a wide range of crayons but none that actually matched actual skin shades. I hope every kid can find their skin shade in these, or may be able to at least blend some together to create it.

but the light golden crayon on the swatch looks so much like the typical skin color on the regular crayon set.

It’s definitely an improvement on picking between peach, yellow, orange or brown as skin tones. As a kid so many of my drawings were Simpson yellow. I really wanna buy these now!

In primary school we had one peach pencil that everyone called “skin colour” (mostly white area) and it was very obvious for anyone who didn’t fit into that. I’m glad that they’re being more inclusive now!

I’m brown, so I had to use three shades higher brown than me in kindergarten, first grade. It’s was annoying because I looked black (not race but color) and my drawings would be the ugliest out of everyone else’s because my class is white. The fact that crayons did this is so relieving!

As a kindergarten teacher I LOVE these crayons. The kids are excited when they can have a crayon that matches their complexion. Every year I make sure to buy a few boxes for my kids.

this makes me so happy because even as a POC when i was younger i was still calling the peach "skin color" and anytime i drew myself i just didnt color myself in

i’m TIRED of being jealous of children.

You really need to try the alcohol based markers they come in a tin an …amazinggggggggg !!!!! I’m on my third set

I am definitely going to grab a pack of the pencils, there are never enough 'skin tones' shades and I'm not one of the wizards who can put down blue and green and have it magically turn into a gorgeously blended olive skintone (how the heck do they do that?!) 🤣

Practice, and with light.. even.. layering. If you put down too much color, it will fill the papers tooth too much, and you wont be able too add the 2nd or 3rd colors on top. Leave some intentional white showing through on the first layer, which allows the next color to fill those areas in a bit more... and then some final heavier pressure, will help blend them together. Its no nearly as hard as you think.

Sadly this set doesn't really include an olive tone either. (Probably because they worked with a make up designer, make up doesn't really do olive tone well either) But the rest is really good.

so glad that todays kids will be able to actually feel like they can draw themselves, its a small change but for a lot of children of colour i bet itll feel a lot better than settling for colours that dont look anything like them

Yeah. I remeber when all we had was BROWN, YELLOW, WHITE, or like a PALE PINK. If you bought one of tge bigger pack you can perhaps get tan. That’s only 5 options and most humans do not have those skins tones. Now most people can find their skin tones. Of course, it’ll take forever to find your perfect skin tonw or everyone skins tones in the world. But at least now you can get closer than before.

As a former child Crayola is literally the best crayon we were able to afford. Nothing ever came close. If it wasn't for crayola my creativity would probably never have blossomed the way it did. So glad they giving today's children the better experience.

I remember that when i was little i drawed everyone with that one peach color in the box, but when i used markers i always had to draw people bright pink :( I'm so happy they're finally starting to make better skintones!

This artwork should be in a museum and the title should be “Crayola, can you expand your alcohol based marker line to more than twelve colors.” c:

I dont color the skin lol when i was a kid i have a pet peeve to coloring the skin part i think it ruin the art

I remember finding a box of these markers, months ago during a trip to California & I was picking up groceries for my grandpa. I passed by the kids aisles to pick up coloring books for my nieces and nephew when I found it. I wish I picked it up, cause currently in order to color skin on my characters I've been using an orange highlighter, a drying brown marker, and a new brown marker.

i'm considering picking up a box of these crayons. i always get nervous when drawing skin because, i guess, i'm worried about misrepresentation (even when i dont share the art anywhere)? very happy crayola made this set either way! (and yes, even though everyone is saying it, i too no longer have to color people orange.)

closest is the ohuhu brush marker skin tone set, i have it and there’s i think 12 colors which are a large spectrum. they are i think around either 12 dollars or 20 dollars i can’t remember, but they’re good and i recommend them :]

Omg I love your videos and you've inspired me so much especially with making outfits with the rainbow It helped me pick a category for my ocs outfits! I'm so happy that I never gave up when I was younger and you've inspired me to draw alot more than I used to! Again tysm and I love your videos

I looooove these! I bought the colored pencil set recently, and I had a flashback of being a kid and trying to color faces a weird mix of pink and yellow, or worse orange and tan! Sometimes the faces just stayed uncolored... Finally, the solution to my old childhood frustration.

I feel bad for brands like Prismacolor and Fabre-Castell, I mean, Crayola comes with a built-in-sharpener....thats tough to beat.

I’m so happy they released this. ❤ When I was young I could never find a skin tone that matched mine, I had to slightly mix brown with the peach color. My skin color is peach, but a bit darker slightly with yellow.

Wow I'm really impressed by the range. They absolutely had a reason for mapping the colors out the way they did and it's pretty awesome how much variation an accuracy they managed ta get. Also your neutral lol js u look very neutral through the camera n neutral is a combination of warm n cool skin tones so it makes sense you could see yourself in all three lineups. I'm the same it took me a long while of staring at different skin tones for hours at a time to be able ta pick them out on sight lol.

I love the variety in these packs . When I was in elementary school I colored myself with browns and peaches that were too light . I am a normal white person , but I am a bit tanned so its a tiny bit browner and the orange was usually too orange . Like that, myself on paper was pale and had too much contrast between the two colors . Now, I am gonna go get these at my local store . Some of the coolest markers ever

This is awesome! I recently picked up my 4 y/o from school, and she was upset because her coloring assignment said to use "skin tones." They were given a set of 8 crayons, and not a single one was dark gold/Brown. So, being African American, my daughter went in the box for the brown, but her teacher made her feel dumb and excluded because they were only supposed to use colors like peach and apricot aka "skin tones.' When I spoke to her teacher I was told that my daughter didn't understand the assignment. No miss Ranchard, YOU don't understand the assignment

I'm so old that when I was a kid crayons didn't even have peach color. We had the standard 8 color crayon box. Hence "brown" people were brown and "white" people were orange I love these new crayons and as a teacher of young children I am going to read the story The Colors of Me and the children can draw pictures of themselves with these crayons which I will purchase. This will make a great Back to School Night display for their parents. Now I have two projects completed for my lesson plans. Thank you for this video.

In my country it always was pink (or brown for tanned skin), like, everyone would think orange to be a weird choice... Is it because of some difference in perceiving colors, or just a tradition?? So strange..

@@gRomoZeka27 Effects of those who are in warmer weather/regional? Dunno, but there are suntan lotions that turn people orange.

_Peal_ is also a word, usually used in the phrase, "a peal of thunder." It means "a deep, prolonged sound, as of thunder or large bells."

They're surprisingly pigmented. I'm getting the coloured pencils and markers now. Also you can layer water based markers if you use cotton paper. I do it all the time.

Isn’t it funny how even if you are a professional artist you still love going through the art isle and smelling all the crayons and binders and tape rolls and white out and sketchbooks.

growing up as a biracial person, i never got to see my skin tone anywhere. in drawings I was either black or white. in games i was either black or white. choosing icons? black or white. it's amazing seeing so many new things so everyone can feel included

I love these pencils, the typical skin colour was too pink for me so that almond extra light is perfect

We plan to get these for my little cousins I was so happy seeing these in stores and got a marker set for myself. I wish they had this when I was in school

This is iconic, it’s SO easy to be inclusive and unproblematic. Idk why beauty brands have issues with this.

This is lovely to see! I worked at a crayola store before this set came out (they had the curated sets of skin tones, but definitely not as thorough as this), but though the store had the typical crap parts of working retail, they genuinely put in an effort to be inclusive with their workers so I'm glad to see that attitude is filtered up to corporate

They did a good work with picking colors! It's even makes me to want all these sets

I'm Latina, and I remember drawing myself as a kid and all there was were peach and brown. There wasn't an in between and I didn't like it. I'm glad kids will be able to draw themselves correctly

I also had the same problem as a Latina kid and I remember seeing the brown and peach crayons “ Oh That’s Way Darker Than Your Skin Tone!” They said when I used brown and “ Oh My That’s Lighter Than You!” They Said So I’m So Glad They Came Out With A Set Like This So 6 Yr Old Me Is Speechless :)

Im indian, and grew up in a "white" environment (aka, everybody was mediterrean tan, but considered me an outlier, lol). I just colored myself orange or light brown, and everybody else light orange lol.

Ive been using the “colors of the world” pencils for a while and I think they work great especially on the budget I am on I would give it a 10/10

Same!! I normally use prisma colors but they have a *very* small skin tone selection so I loove these and they work/blend really well too! :)

Love listening to your brain ramblings since that’s how I think when I do things too (not drawing cos I can’t do that even tho I watch everything drawing-related that I can but I’m a crafter not an artist 😂), but yeah, this is how my brain rambles while I sew bags and knit/crochet) 🤗🤗🤗

Oooh, I have skin tone colours too! Got them for my birthday 🎉 Mine are the “GIOTTO STILNOVO skin tones” and they’re all pastel!! I use them for everything not just skin tones 😊 Like plaid jackets, hair, brown/hazel eyes etc. I hope that you have a great day!!! Wow, I remember when I was a child and my only options for skin tones were paper white, kinda pink, pretty much orange, medium brown and really black. This is so cool :O

They are all beautiful colors, the brand knows how to create good things, I like how they make a section of each skin tone and its subtones. i definitely love this brand

when i was quite young i had never seen a person with dark skin since i grew up in an area with quite literally no people of colour so i called beige “skin tone” and i look back at that not very fondly so this pack is exciting to help kids learn!

I love how she also found the perfect color match for her hair!

When I was little I had a set of crayons like this called "people colors" - I can't express how ecstatic my younger self would have been to find something similar in marker or colored pencil form.

When crayola has more shade variety than most brands. The likes are concerning now …👀

Wow,they seem like a good set! This seriously looks good! I wish they came to Turkey though, because I don't have the correct colors to make them look like an actual skin color, it ends up being weirdly colored (and no, buying new color pencils wont make it either,they either dont sell it or its ridiculously expensive) I wish we had a similar line for colored pencils.

I like that she pulled up the pencil guide as she said “Crayon”

My mum had a couple of skin-tone pencils when I was a kid and I had to ask her special permission to use them cause they were “fancy pencils” cause no one made skin-tone supplies! Only my best drawings got to be actual human colours all the rest were mostly Simpson yellow.

There also great for fur colors on animals, tree barks and grasses, all sorts of natural tones, stones and sands, desert and prairie colors. I'm loving them when coloring in Appaloosa horses!

These are honestly so great for kids! They can learn about all different skin tones and maybe it’s just my kids but whenever they are coloring they always ask for skin colors and it’s like theirs apricot and brown..

Hey Rin, you should totally try out the Artist Loft Alcohol based markers! I think you would love them because you can layer then and they are superrrr saturated and they have brush nibs! Please try them out!!!!
