I love the chaos. If it were clean, tight, and tense, it just wouldn't be Mingus.

"Charles Mingus composed "Haitian Fight Song" in the mid-1950s, during the burgeoning Civil Rights Movement and just as significant social change was sweeping across the United States. Mingus said he wrote this song while thinking about the injustices in the world, and because of the success of the Haitian Revolution in ending slavery and French colonialism, Haiti was used as a symbol of resistance to racism, colonialism, and every kind of injustice one could think of."

Sorry if this sounds rude, but I love the trombone. I absolutely love jazz and and love what I do. I love Mingus especially and I very much like this cover but those solos from (I think 1st chair) sound ridiculous. It honestly is just sound. I mean, that is very hard to do, but it doesn't mix well with the other instruments and have a nice blended sound. Edit: after two more years of playing music, I SEVERELY disagree with my comment above. It’s now been nearly 7 years since I found this video, and MAN do I love this SO MUCH! GO NO BS BRASS! I hope y’all are still performing

Im not dissing the whole solo, but the first parts with the attempted 64th notes sounded pretty bad. I am not saying it isn't cool and pretty awesome (which it is) but doesn't go with the song. The rest sounded great in my opinion.

It sounds good, but I feel like there is not nearly enough discipline to be able to pull off a style like this cleanly. I mean, there are guys just playing random shit the whole time; it sounds like a marching band warming up.

Well is good, i really like the intro because of the effect of the "out of tune trumpet" , what really fucks the cover is the fact that the drums are not jazzy, come on they are like metal or hard rock... Mingus is more soft and nice not like this

ima be honest... i hate jazz bands that get a punk rock drummer, a 6th grade trumpet player, and a trombone player that likes to move his slide back and forth and play nonsense over and over again🤦🏻‍♂️
