Holy Jesus tuba man is throwing a groove during the solo section... the unsung hero of the whole band.
I love the chaos. If it were clean, tight, and tense, it just wouldn't be Mingus.
0:13 Puberty Trumpet
I know this is a brass band, but this song isn't the same without the double bass

tuba sounds great, but they should have at least put him on the actual bass line

Oh dear god, for future preferences do not refer to contra players as tuba players

SirVonLuisEscuireOfX it's a damn tuba, "contra" refers to contrabass bugles which this fellow is almost certainly not playing.

Yes!
This is great. The intentional chaos and messiness is awesome
god this goes so unbelievably hard
"Charles Mingus composed "Haitian Fight Song" in the mid-1950s, during the burgeoning Civil Rights Movement and just as significant social change was sweeping across the United States. Mingus said he wrote this song while thinking about the injustices in the world, and because of the success of the Haitian Revolution in ending slavery and French colonialism, Haiti was used as a symbol of resistance to racism, colonialism, and every kind of injustice one could think of."
Nice!!!
I can't even understand this 2:30 It's just so. Impossible
Sorry if this sounds rude, but I love the trombone. I absolutely love jazz and and love what I do. I love Mingus especially and I very much like this cover but those solos from (I think 1st chair) sound ridiculous. It honestly is just sound. I mean, that is very hard to do, but it doesn't mix well with the other instruments and have a nice blended sound. Edit: after two more years of playing music, I SEVERELY disagree with my comment above. It’s now been nearly 7 years since I found this video, and MAN do I love this SO MUCH! GO NO BS BRASS! I hope y’all are still performing

Im not dissing the whole solo, but the first parts with the attempted 64th notes sounded pretty bad. I am not saying it isn't cool and pretty awesome (which it is) but doesn't go with the song. The rest sounded great in my opinion.

shwestrick chaos!!!! haha,im a trombone player and ill say soloing on bone is hard and to b in that octave range is crazy but if he keeps at it I'm sure he could take over the game

This band needs to collab with Adam Neely
That trumpet melody in the beginning is just... it's just sad.

There’s a reason there wasn’t a lot of it in the original
Mingus is heavy challenging stuff. Give 'em credit for the effort. Still fun.
I'm sure that the trumpet solo at the beginning was meant to be played that way. Stop the critics if you don't wrote the music
perfect trumpet intro.... stop bashing this guy knows too how to play the way you are used to hear trumpet...
where is the Bass intro ? 😐😛😧

Where is Music? Where is Mingus?
No BS @ ALL KID !
none of you will ever be as cool as shades wearing dad with the tucked in shirt fist pumping and playing a trombone.
SERIOUS! NO BS indeed!
Drums kind of ruined it for me and made the performance seem unnecessarily aggressive, maybe that was what they were going for? I don't know. Great work still!

The opening trumpet solo just ruins the whole thing for me.
If you're not that hype while playing, are you really playing?
Por favor, ensinem o cara do sax a improvisar.
Is that Reginald Chapman on bass trombone? (Fella with the khaki hat)
Sheet music please
how. is. it. that. tight.

Meh, I sucked the first time I tried that on b'bone. Love this song. kinda weird hearing this rendition first though. =p
Damn... That's pretty good.
Ha solo sax, blow brother, blow. Good luck playing over the "bones."
Kinda floored by how much better it all would have been if the drummer just had some bigger, better hi-hats

Why these drums? Horns were on point though.
The tuba guy used the cheater hand halfway through....
Didn't know Mark Zuckerberg played trumpet
I take lessons from that tuba.

Same here, he was an instructor for our bands low brass.
This is so... masculine.
The trumpet player second from the left thinks he's the shit haha
It sounds good, but I feel like there is not nearly enough discipline to be able to pull off a style like this cleanly. I mean, there are guys just playing random shit the whole time; it sounds like a marching band warming up.
Well is good, i really like the intro because of the effect of the "out of tune trumpet" , what really fucks the cover is the fact that the drums are not jazzy, come on they are like metal or hard rock... Mingus is more soft and nice not like this
This doesn't sound all that great
ima be honest... i hate jazz bands that get a punk rock drummer, a 6th grade trumpet player, and a trombone player that likes to move his slide back and forth and play nonsense over and over again🤦🏻♂️
