No. 247 All-Ways Fuze
Ғылым және технология
A video on an impact fuze from the second World war. This fuze was copied by other countries after the war, and during the war was used on different Grenades and hand thrown bombs. It also was used as a tail fuze of one of the British airdropped bombs.

I was reading about this on wikipedia, wondered if anyone had a video, and you have two. Very informative!

Glad you enjoyed them. I try to get videos up if I don't see the info online. They are not well made, but I hope the info is complete enough for people.
I have been looking for this video for months, thank you!

@@Stray03 How fun would it be to make a refillable working version which creates a cloud of white flour upon impact.

Would be fun. Just be careful that fuze has a couple of heavy parts in it that can head your way.
Your explanations are clear and helpful. I for one prefer your slightly slower, more even pace: it makes it easier to understand and analyze what's being shown.

I appreciate the kind words. At worse I tell people if the video is going too slowly KZread allows for it to be increased up to 2x speed in the settings.
Very cleaver design with the concaved cap.

Yeah all the impact fuzes have some variation of that.
They used this type of fuze on the Heydrich assassination? I read a modified #73 grenade was used.

From the image it looks like the top of the grenade was used but the rest of the grenade looks like material or wrapped in tape. But yes the fuze was this one.

On that score an alternate history guy claimed the device used had botulinum toxin applied to the body. This is nonsense as some bystanders were also hit with splinters and were not poisoned. I guess the upholstery stuffing did a number on his system. Degloving/blast injury, & he had other serious injuries as well.

Yeah apparently they mention some sort of poisoning theory but the grenade pic and blast seem pretty convincing to me. Would have been interesting to see it actually land in the vehicle rather than hit the tire.
I can see how that would be dangerous as hell if it were to be thrown spinning

KZread should auto caption it but it takes a while.
I don't see where the detonator and/or booster is put. It seems like there is not enough room for it?
@Stray03

They are actually in the other part of the grenade. Look at the m82 gammon bomb for a good view, of what I mean. You screw the fuze to the bomb that has an adapter in it for the detonator/booster.
Thanks !Have been looking all around for this ! This was used in the Number 73 Grenade which killed that Piece of Shit “Reinhard Heydrich”….

That is the one where they tossed the grenade at his car as he drove by right?
@WXUZT

@@Stray03 Yes ! The Fuze has an ingenious design. It gets armed immediately after it left the hand after it was tossed ! In case of the assassination of Heydrich, the sten gun of the main shooter Jammed; the modified bomb with the special fuse was tossed by the other assassin and although it missed Heydrich its shrapnel took along with it horsehair cushioning material which lodged in Heydrichs body and according to reports was the main cause of the septicaemia which killed him.

I was always wondering why a regular grenade detonated upon contact - now I know.
What video game is that? Thanks

@Stray03

The g-force on an artillery shell is much higher than the ones on the panzerfaust. Not sure the sheet metal pieces would hold up to that kind of force. Look at pictures of ww2 artillery fuzes for ideas.
What game was that?
