That is a Dutch steel Ten Broeke cruiser. A few hundred of these were built. Very special to see this on the other side of the canal. They are not really seaworthy boats. It is a typical cheap Dutch mass product from the 1970s, when thousands of steel hulls were made, which were usually completed by family men. Nice to see that in such an unexpected place.

Nothing wrong with "slab" sides as long as laid up well. Solid glass below waterline, cored hull above . Remember, decks are usually flat, they get their strength from coring or on older boat , very thick lay-ups Years ago people used very thick lay-up. Usually sprayed in with a chopper gun. Very heavy construction

Its made of steel old son. The steel pulpit welded to the deck is the first clue, the shape itself is also a clue. Steel is not the easiest to form for a boat hull unless you have expensive plate rolling equipment. Adds time and cost but produces a nice boat. Last clue is the rust, the achilles heel of a steel boat.

No, I thought it was, but the owner told me it was fibreglass.

@@DavidPaulNewtonScott i had the same boat in Holland and it was totally steel. Perhaps they fibreglassed the hull, but i can't immagain that.
