NJ Hirailers Trainstock 3 - Tour of the largest O Gauge Layout in the USA-Part 1

This is PART 1 of a tour of the NJ Hirailers club layout at their Trainstock 3 open house this January. It's the largest O gauge train layout in the United States. This video concentrates on the mainland trains and scenery. Be sure to see the one-of-a-kind Sopranos layout near the end of the video. The layout was specially constructed for The Sopranos, and is now part of the NJ Hirailers display. Check out my other videos for an overview of the rest of the massive layout in full operation.

Words can not describe the sheer awesomeness of this massive masterpiece of a layout. It is one of (if not) the greatest train layout that I have ever had the pleasure of looking at.

Nice vid!!! Look like to me , “O” scale trains are not as detailed as “Ho” and one would think that they would just because of size alone ....

Isn't it odd how a privately constructed model railroad tends to look better that a club?

That's a lot of trains. However, everything looks so new and pristine. Nothing is weathered. I tend to like weathered trains and structures. And it seems the trains are just hauling empty cars with nothing to transport.

Do they ever "weather" the cars and locomotives to make them look realistic??

I see layouts like this format all the time. They have tracks running everywhere and the trains run at crazy fast speeds. All that takes away any attempt and making the layout realistic, you just don't see these things in real life. Really nice but I just can't model a train layout with that 3rd rail, just not realistic to me.

Great layout.its a shame the experience was ruined by some moron adding an Obama-bashing sign to the "hobo village"why politicize the hobby that we love?

Layout was fantastic!! except for the political jab at the president. Can people like you at least keep politics out of a great hobby???. Other than that you do fantastic work.

The political statement towards our nation's president was totally inappropriate, and has no place in our wonderful hobby. Please limit your signs to the normal kind you would see in this hobby, and your layout would have been much better received. Also, the 'Go Jets' statement made by the man who said "we have a Dolphins fan in the audience" made me laugh, as the Jets are laughable this season. along with the Raiders. Go Seahawks!!!!
