Nixon's analysis is spot on!! Bush 41 would've defeated Clinton had there been no GOP infighting as a result of him breaking his pledge of no new taxes. What's ironic about Bush 41 raising taxes on the top earners was that it benefited Clinton who was credited by most for the economic boom of the '90s. None of that would've happened had Bush 41 kept his '88 campaign pledge.

Ridiculous.. Bush tax increase just dragged the recession on. Tax increase never help the economy.

Bush 41 lost because of Ross Perot as well as raising taxes.

Mario C was a proud New Yorker, and he was very devoted to New York's success. I don't think he wanted to run for President unless he felt like he could do more as Pres. then as Governor, which is why he didn't consider running until 92. He was caught up in the budget mess by that point, and if he couldn't resolve it as a full time Governor, he certainly couldn't resolve it as a part time Governor, part time Presidential candidate. Eventually he just ran out of time to sign up.
