Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I am enjoying this series, a lot. In 1983 I bought a 1976 Coupe De Ville, it was a great car. My Dad hated the Caddy, his 1976 Chevy P/U with a slightly modded 350 SBC could not outrun me in a rolling race, from the dig he could get out front but once the big Caddy was moving he could not pass it. I applaud your desire to showcase "the other guys" because some great engines have been produced over the years.

Just finding these Cad vids. Long story short I started after reading the article "Torque Pig" in the July '00 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. Bought my 1st one, a '73 Eldo 500 w/ a '68 TH400 installed in an '81 Cad Coupe originally w/ a Buick 4.1/TH200 and 3.42 10" for $200 in a junk yard after the previous owner smacked a deer and sold it to them. I repaired the front and drove it. My 1st, I put duals, a Holley Projection and trans shit kit. A very wicked 1-2 shift @ 4000 rpm! Beating a Chevy 350 S-10 and '96 Impala SS was no problem! Tidbit. My Cad weighed 4220#, the SS 4214#. The B and D body GM frames are the same except the D is inches longer in the middle. Suspension parts all interchange. Current project is an '84 Coupe...and a 500 for my lowered Chevy dually. Finally, I stopped at one of the Cad perf shops, Potter Automotive in Soddy-Daisy, TN in '08. He had the Popular Hot Rodding Magazine Engine Master's Challenge 470 he built for it and told me the WHOLE story of why he did not win. You give control over your engine to them. They did not properly vent the Cad cooling system which caused it to detonate, throwing off the harmomic balancer. His 500's made 800 hp. I have a few dozen 472/500's.

*** WARNING! *** Do NOT spray on the hit more than a 100 shot unless you have the drivetrain to support the torque level that you are going to make. Doing so gave me a very expensive education. I was running 11.40's @ 119mph with a small block spraying 175 about 20 feet out in 1st gear. This worked great and was 60 footing 1.60 on street tires. But I wanted more. I told my buddies I was going to spray it out of the hole and one of them who had WAY more nitrous experience than I had said, "Oh yeah! I gotta see this!" and went and stood over by the wall with his arms folded. I should have stopped right then! Long story short, I sprayed it out of the hole and the car dead hooked and went about 2 feet before twisting the 3rd member straight up tearing through the floor and destroying the driveshaft. Car wouldn't even roll and we had to winch it onto a trailer. I got it to the shop and the "shockwave" of 800+ lb-ft of torque also destroyed the transmission and the torque converter! An expensive lesson. Had it not broke, I would have stood it on the bumper and that would not have been cheap either. Be smart, and use a progressive controller.

Forged and balanced pistons and rods, steel heads with big valve job and porting, mildish lunati cam, edelbrock intake, sanderson headers, 9 to 1 compression, msd ignition. Just ordered hollet sniper x flow injection, 800hp holley fuel pump, holley fuel reg. I'll ket you know how it goes. Love your video's Richard, thank you sir! Ten second runs at the strip or dyno aren't really that bad for heating them. Proper ring gap will usually get you before you pinch a ring land. Still, this engine with these huge pistons, 4.3xx", I wouldnt be surprised to see it take another 100hp with race gas and maybe another 100hp with alcohol after that. Something else will probably let go first. You might not be able to push enough nitrous in this engine to hurt the pistons, however spraying a 300 shot at 2000rpm would probably push the crank to the center of the earth.

That's because is would be sitting in various bins and crates gathering dust and rust as the prospective bench racer brags to all their friends about spending thousands of dollars for a project they have the parts to build but refuse to because they want it to be "better". Specifically on this combination as it's tested here, same nitrous, same cam and intake, what would the difference be on the dyno from the investment. That's a nice build, I like that you paid attention to quench. The only thing that might worry me a bit is how tight the bearings are, but that's really minor. I would guess, tested like this, open exhaust, your engine probably makes a little more power than this. About 400 or so. 460s have notoriously strong everything, blocks, cranks, rods everywhere is over build for what they do. I wouldn't worry about a 150 shot, I just wouldn't hit it at too low an rpm. Richard scaled a 100 shot at four degree retard, for a 150 shot six would be close. Use good gas, 9.75 is a bit for an all iron big block with a tight cam and pump gas, but you should be fine. If you try to spray it stalling the convertor you will probably Balloon it. It would be like 800+ ft lbs against a something not designed for it.

Where did the idea that running Nitrous changes an engine from being Naturally Aspirated to something else!?! The additional oxygen and the attending fuel create more power/additional cylinder pressure, they don't change how it gets there. N/A means the engines cylinders are filled with air by atmospheric pressure, when running Nitrous, the nitrous and extra fuel are carried by the air filling the cylinders is at ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE so the engine is still NATURALLY ASPIRATED. Nitrous is an oxygen bearing compound 'inhaled naturally', just like nitro methane would be, and running nitro methane is still considered N/A. Regardless of what is ingested it's still naturally occuring under atmospheric pressure. The engines still fed at one Bar., no pressurized induction (boost) so why people who supposedly know how power adders work insist that with nitrous an engine is no longer N/A makes no sense whatsoever.
