@Caroline Trembath I'm so happy to see you are studying aquaculture. I'm going for a bachelor degree in environmental science. Now I study micro biology. My hobby is aquaponic and are very interested in aquaculture as well. Sustainability is my motto (could you guess hahaha) and I would live to talk with someone in this topic (aquaculture). I'm trying to find solutions for dinitrifacation as nitrate is the hardest impact in aquaculture. Sure you have seen pic's from Laguna de Bay in Philippines (just Google if you have not already seen it). Enough for now;) Beware, english is not my native tongue. I'm from Scandinavian country, so bear with me;). If you are interested pls contact me (not sure if it's possible to from here). However, that's not a problem. Dot down some words here and I'll give you my mail. I don't care about spam, I'll soon change may adress soon anyway hahaha. If not, I which you all the best with your studies!

At my uni we were taken to a WWTP before the actual course in the curriculum had started , go figure how much the whole class and me understood :D
I really enjoyed your video sir. It was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. I wish more videos like this were on here. Thanks -
Mr. Myers, I work on a waste water purification plant and i am also doing a "school". This is a awesome video, i profi a lot from it. PLS MORE of that 😊. greetings from switzerland
Its a complicated subject but made so simple and straight in this video. Tons of thanks.
Very well made. So helpful in understanding the process. The only this I would add, is that if you were two have two tanks one feeding the other - it makes more sense to have denitrification happen first (because of the need for BOD) and then have Nitrification occur in the second tank. Particularly liked the problem solving at the end. Thank you!
Thanks Mike ! This has been of great help to prepare my next exam.
Thanks for your work, Steven. I'm currently conducting a research on Alcaligenes as heterotroph denitrifying bacteria on poultry waste and your video is so informative, please let me know if there are books or articles you recommend about this nitrogen cycle. Have a good day!
Outstanding! I'm just recently working at a WRRF and this helped me tremendously! Thanks so much!
I was looking for a video explaining nitrification & de-nitrification, and this video helps me a lot. Thank you!
Steven : Excellent presentation.Helped me a lot to understand the process. Is the process suitable for spent wash treatment from distilleries?
Awesome video, got a much deeper understanding of the nitrogen cycle now. Everyone keeping aquariums should watch and fully understand this.
I am a young researcher in a german institute for sanitary engineering and i really like this short but informative video. ;)
i am a master student in Germany and you have really helped me. i have taken my time to write every explanation on my notebook. I need more from you my teacher. Congratulations
Thank you man, this is more detailed than most
one of my favourite videos in this field , thank you ...

Beautifully explained. 👌👍
It is an amazing video for understanding the basics
Wow....I stumbled upon this video and I was quite surprised I understood what was explained without taking any formal classes in this subject matter. It all made sense by teaching myself on how to keep my fish aquarium free of nitrates and learning how to cycle my fish tank to prevent fish loss. I test my tap waters and fish tank waters for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate regularly.
Thanks Steven!
wow! this is very very very informative! many thanks for the great video.
Incredible video!
Hello, I have a question regarding the hydrolysis om ammonia in the formation of the ammonium ion. I have found other information on the internet, where this process isnt included as part of the nitrification of ammonia, but where its rather the direct oxidation of ammonia. Im a little confused about this, would you be able to explain to me?
Thank you so much for this awesome video, helps me a lot
it helps me a lot understanding biological treatment class, please make a video like this again
