This is glorious, I have been researching "how many ways can we generate electricity?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Diyadison Penhloe Blaster - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a good one off product for generating your own electricity without the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my neighbour got cool results with it.

Interesting check out the difference in brushed and brushless(dc) motors being able to produce ac...along with diodes rectifiers caps...(volt reg)you should be able to create a clean ac with decent (milli)amps available...to use in throttle/steering servo draw...along with continuous available current for radio...meanwhile "recharging".. less... necessary(?)....battery cells......🤔(=much lighter chassis) possibly leading to never replacing batteries 🤔. Just enough cells for idle(radio) Amp draw occurs when throttle increases....increasing revs...increasing amps...so at idle nitro rc cars won't need "radio battery packs." Just phone battery level amps? How about using the on board starter and invert the output polarity? Just a question

Put a load on the motor and then run it. Those bands will slip like bambi on ice.

You are measuring the open voltage. What does it fall to under load? I am interested if it could charge batteries or power a phone.

@@egeelcin HUH, not sure how a transformer would even be involved. This is a DC motor being used as a generator so it would produce DC. Transformers do not work with DC only AC (works on the fact the magnetic field builds and collapses). Even it is was AC you can still measure Voltage and Current.

It’s technically a Diesel engine, regardless of what actual fuel it uses - nitromethane in this case, since it’s an RC engine. Anyway, like all Diesel engines, they don’t use spark plugs, but glow plugs. You only need to connect the glow plug to a power source to start the engine, thereafter it retains enough heat to ignite the charge. One benefit of Diesel engines, by design, it that they advance and/or retard ignition timing automatically. Hope that helps.

why not just direct-drive it with a flexible coupling and use the generator to start it? build it in-line, like a flashlight.
