Interesting, and it gives me some ideas for a presentation to my makespace students. Thanks for the idea.
Get a hotter torch and heat it to cherry red and quench in water. Then you won't have to have that tangled mess wrapped around the clamp. Use a MAP gass or Oxy-Acetylene torch. You'll need around 3000 Celsius. And be careful.... (And use shorter film cuts. If you spray paint one piece I pretty much know what you are going to do with the rest. - watch a show and see how quick the cuts are. It'll make for better more interesting videos. Too long and people get bored). I know this is a negative sounding post and you put a in lot of effort, but I liked the video and can see your potential.
Great build!

Thanks. There's more to come.

Hello, can you please let me know what is the thickness of the nitinol being used and the length, resistance per inch? Looks like you’ve used two AA batteries to power the setup. How long does it last? Thank you!

HI. I used 0.040" (1mm) x 5ft nitinol wire with a transformation temperature of 115F(45C). Resistance is less than 1ohm per inch. I have another video coming out shortly(1-2days) that will demonstrate another application.
where did you get your nitinol wire?

Yes. Current impacts speed. My next video will plot tension verses wattage.
