A good trick for side mounted filters (pretty much most nissans) is to use some aluminum foil and cover where the oil drops from the filter. That way when you're done, you don't need to worry of oil on the crossmember or in many cases on the exhaust for some of their sedans.

Thanks for the video, we have a T35 N sport it is leaking oil from the filter, it's out of warranty I'm going to service it myself. So this helps! Filters are tiny!

Hi, the service info is in the Customer Information Booklet" which is separate to the Owners Manual.

I have a trolley jack and jack stands. Trying to figure out what is the best method to get this car up on jack stands. Is there a front centre jacking point so i can put both jack stands on either side on the pinch weld?

Hi, I didn’t get a chance to have a look, but from memory no. You can jack under the subframe or the A arms to lift the car up, and you should put the axle stands under the subframe, not under the side sills

Start with around 4L to refill with Oil and Filter changed. You will end up around 4.5L but check the dipstick after the first 4.

Any reason for not changing the Nissan sump plug crush washer?

Hi - Yes, I didn't have one! If I get one with an oil filter, I change it, otherwise I don't bother. If you torque it correctly (VT-FT), it won't leak. Having said that, hand torque is something learned, and it is better to change the washer and use the factory torque recommendation if you can.

What year model is this xtrail mate? Mine is xtrail 2015 and it looks different from ur filter. Cheers

Yes, it works fine. It is a Silicone spray. Oil is in the description - Castrol Edge.

Hey stupid question doing a service yourself is there any need one scan plug into it?

Hi - No, no need for a scanner. You can reset the service indicator and set the mileage to the next service through the instrument cluster menu.

How do you reset the car service message off the dash.

Hi, You need to scroll through the menu until you get to Settings / Vehicle Maintenance / Service / Reset. You can manually choose how many km/miles until the next reminder.

Well, you can if you want, but I never have, and if you torque correctly it won't leak or deform.

4.6 litres with the filter change

design look tricky, you have to remove the wheels to change the filter.

Check out my newer video, you can leave the wheel on, it is just a bit tight to access.

This is not T32, T32 has the oil filter at the bottom right next to the oil sump

It says T32 on the build plate, and the VIN is JN1TBNT32A0003688, so pretty sure it is a T32.

I think petrol and diesel xtrail have a diffrent set out Mine is T32 2016 diesel and my oil sump and oil filter are in diffrent location from the one in video

I am not happy with the Nissan service booking system . I have trouble contacting them , then they don't get the details right . They could not get a price for programming new key fob and said they would send an email . Never got any email . Rang again two days before the service trying to find out the cost of the programming , again said they would ring me back . No ring back . Got sick and tired of their BS and cancelled my service . Rang an automotive key locksmith and he can come out and do it at my home . I am very happy with my Nissan car and the service if you can get it has been good but their booking systems , contact and customer support systems and due diligence where I live , stinks .
