The door handle thing might be a crash safety feature. I lost a family member last year to a rollover accident because the vehicle door came open during the roll and the passenger was hanging out of the vehicle while it rolled. This feature is probably to reduce the likelihood that an accidental door pull opens the door.

For the USB port, I added a USB3 extender, and mounted it conveniently. For the door, I set the system to unlock the doors when in park. I also have the habit of pulling the door handle twice. I bought the 2022 Pathfinder Platinum just two weeks ago. I also had a 2016 Murano Platinum. I sold it back to the dealer. I always took the Platinum in the Nissan because I wanted all the features. The 2022 Pathfinder Platinum for me is the ultimate. It appears most everything was corrected. Very satisfied so far.

We love our 2014 Pathfinder Platinum, 5 yrs and 60k miles still looks and rides brand new. CVT stutter was fixed at 24k miles due to some electronic sensor replaced and CVT oil flushed, never happened again since. After that, i only replaced a front wheel bearing due to a huge pot hole in NYC and regular oil and filter changes. These SUVs have bad reputations due to the CVT issues it had in the beginning but after they were fixed, i’ve seen plenty go almost 200k miles or past it without any issues. I will change the CVT oil every 40k miles just in case but so far, no complaints at all and is the comfiest SUV I’ve ever driven.

Vehicles are very expensive anymore and I wish the base and mid models offered more. I just had Uhaul install a hitch yesterday because the dealer wanted $1100 to do it. I have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and when the doors are locked, you cannot pull on the door handle to open it. You must pull back the black plastic tap above the door handle, or press the unlock button. I'm still wondering how you can pull your door handle twice to open it. It locks automatically after you start driving for safety and unlocks once it's in park I believe. It unlocks once I shut the car off. The s model barely comes with anything. Why didn't you go for a little more and get the better model? I think the price is high for this car but all the features you get is amazing in my opinion. Toyota marketed their reliability in the 70s and 80s and it’s stuck with us since. I had a 2006 Toyota Avalon that the transmission went out at 105k miles. Also there were fuel injector problems that would make the interior smell like gas had spilled inside. Toyota doesn’t necessarily mean reliable. But, now we’re a Toyota and Nissan household. So we’ll see which one lasts longer.

Hi there. I personally wouldn't buy one of these with 150K, I don't think maintenance cost are any higher than other avg cars. But I do think you can expect to have it in a shop more than say a Highlander. Or have a lot of funky issues pop up, which you will probably just deal with rather than spend money fixing. Now, I'm sure there has to be some units out there with zero issues and will last over 200K...but after owning it for 3 years I was happy to turn it back in. That said the vehicle is great. Lots of space. Huge towing capacity, not bad on fuel especially, on the highway if you drive reasonable, so its not all bad, but thats my honest opinion. (in owners manual) If your Pathfinder is still under warranty go to the dealer and have it aligned and or replaced. My 2018 had issues with it back at 4100 miles. To replace this radar is 700-850 bucks after warranty is out. ABS light comes on and automatic braking started slowing down the car because a vehicle in the next lane to the right slowed down. It's a great buy for a SUV. my S model has safety features. It applied breaks and turned wheel to avoid a large suv from me broadsiding . I had looked down in the passenger seat for a moment. I realize keep eyes on the road at all times. This other driver shot across a 2 lane road, and crashes are the location often. So I look up and my Pathfinder is breaking and turning the wheel away from rear of suv. I have not owned a Nissan since the 1980s They are good, reliable suvs. I use my 2019 S model to haul tools and supplies for my store. So I'm not using it as a people mover. I love the fuel economy and power of the six cylinder engine. Mine has the android auto. It also has something I like, in the ability to hook up aux cable if I bring a device that has audio jack. I get sick of Bluetooth, on my 2022 ram pickup it wants to many permissions to even put in supplied charger. It will turn on Blue Tooth when I'm talking outside of the truck. I enjoy my Ram but do not like permissions off my phone to require use of charging. I got a great deal on my Pathfinder, and it keeps my Ram out of places that are tight on parking with narrow streets. So I would give my Pathfinder a high mark on value and safety. Honestly I wanted to buy a 2023 or 24 4wheel drive Pathfinder with the 9 speed transmission Dealers are crazy prices have shot up to the point of gouging. I have 50 thousand miles on my 2019,I can wait.

You will feel a shutting vibration when accelerating from say 20 to 60, as you get on a highway for example. Almost feels like micro ABS type of vibrations occurring within the tranny and may feel it in the pedal a little. But not much I think you can do. Not like an auto where if say 2nd is jumping you easy on the throttle around that gear for better transition and longer life. The CVT is #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5 about what I don't like about the Pathfinder. The Pathfinder is no more fuel efficient than a Pilot, Explorer, Highlander, et al. Yet I feel like the CVT kills the overall performance of the vehicle. Give me a traditional automatic any day of the week. Acceleration is very non-linear, you really have to punch it, otherwise it always feels like a dog down low. We also had the dreaded CVT stutter with ours early but it seemingly has been fixed.

I have cameras all around, adaptive speed control (the amazing facility). But the rear viewing cameras stop working some 6 months ago. Taking the vehicle into Factory Service Center is like going for a horror movie. The camera diagnostics costs ~ $800 + parts. Changing one of the Enhanced fog light part costed me $375, (installed by my mechanic for mere $25. Your review is good By the way, the locking of front doors, while in drive mode is to address suicidal tendencies, in case of rage / fight, as well as safety in parked mode from external situation. In case of an accident, deployment of airbags & unlocking may happen. In my vehicle 2 USB ports are in the storage space in center console under my right hand resting place. I have permanent iPhone charging cable in one & 1 in 3 extension in the other. My vehicle, me a senior (75+) enjoy the ride, it’s amazing every time I drive ( love it). If the car is running and not in park, door will stay locked. It prevents kids from jumping out. It’s a safety feature. He didn’t mention the armrest console which has plenty of storage. Only thing I hate about our ‘18 is the CVT. Turn the o/d off to get it to run better if you need the acceleration. Can’t wait to pay it off. Going for a Durango r/t.

I think the funny thing with the Apple car play and android auto (or the lacking there of)…is that the 2018 rouge comes standard with that…also all of Nissans line up had the ability to have that if not come standard with it…other than the pathfinder and armada

Probably did that to make their luxury infinity models look better by coming with those features standard. I think you needed like the highest model to get the ability to have it in the Pathfinder. I'm not 100% on that but that's my first guess. Lol he games they play.**SK**

A penny wise a pound foolish, you got what you paid for; a base price suv. You actually got more options in your 2018 model than the earlier models in the same class. I have the 2018 SL tech package and enjoy it very much.

We do not. We have a 2020 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited we replaced that with. BUT, we are in the planning stages of swapping the Hyundai for a larger SUV again so we can tow more this summer. Do yea, new Pathfinders are back on the list. But no, I can only speak to that 2017 Pathfinder for the 3 years we had it. Ours constantly had issues staying in AWD lock, it only liked but in AWD auto. Overall, we loved it despite its quarks, and miss it more now. I think longterm warranty is a good thing to have for them, but it's a hell of a vehicle.**SK**

@mooauto2388 Yea, I would have to need the added towing and get a solid savings to go with an Armada. And with Pathfinder towing 6K, we would be more apt to go that direction. We shall see...Be sure to Subscribe to catch how that shakes out!

I really just like to be seen. And also I never have to worry about not actually having my headlights on at night but thinking I do because of the daytime lights. But I get why many people don't. What I don't get is the hesitancy for some to use them at night or better yet poor conditions like storms.**SK**

@@alitoroganan2442 this vehicle has automatic headlights. During the daytime the headlights are off. There’s never a need to drive around with headlights on in broad daylight. There’s absolutely no benefit and causes unnecessary glare on drivers. The daytime running lights use the LED signature lighting which is more than anyone would need to be visible.
