NISSAN 240SX EGR DELETE (THE RIGHT WAY)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome back to another video!! In this episode of the build series we completely delete the EGR from my 1991 Nissan 240SX. We use some OEM parts as well as some aftermarket ones to properly delete the EGR without the use of a welder or any power tools. There is a lot of misinformation online about this job so I tried to combine all of the best knowledge into one video. Enjoy and stay tuned for more content!

I can only imagine the pain of falcon punching the manifold like you at 16:53 😅😅

This was a good walkthrough, sadly im in California. I honestly watched this for some insight on a "clean" removal so i could clean and replace mine. My 93 is throwing an egr code and i need to get it smogged before the years ovr and i figure its a combo of carbon and the hard to reach vac lines being cracked. Do u know if the recirculate tube bolt that mounts to the actual egr is a 30mm or 31mm?

My 240 vert has been owned by an idiot before me at some point; who decided to just cut vacuum lines on the EGR and sealed them poorly causing the car to shake at idle and sometimes die at stop

@@WRX_Caleb_Earl Yeah that definitely sounds like a vacuum leak problem causing the sputters or dying. I would for sure do the proper EGR delete and see how that does for you. If it still persists maybe do a smoke test on it. Good luck! 🤟

The exhaust gas is inert and reduces combustion temps, and in effect, cylinder head temps. That crack would reduce pressure going to the bpt valve, and each exhaust impulse would suck in a bit of air to the o2 sensor. If you don't wire in a resistor to the egr temp sensor it will constantly throw a Code 32, because the sensor is looking for a temperature change that's never going to happen now.

Thanks for watching! Good thing I removed the cracked hose for sure then. As much as I wanted to save the EGR system, i would have been chasing my tail like crazy looking at that mess haha. The plan is to wire in the resistor when i stop being lazy lol

@@yadielacevedo2143 My EGR is still intact. From what I've read regarding EGR function, results vary based on driving conditions per user. Some report no change at all, some say it performs better, others say it's worse. For fun, I blocked the BPT from the EGR and didn't feel any significant difference in performance, maybe a bit more pep in the ~1.5k to ~3k rpm range where the EGR is supposed to function, but business as usual at higher engine speeds since the EGR is normally closed then and during WOT. It did put my NOx through the roof even with a fresh catalytic converter though. But then, my KA is stock aside from a beefier radiator and fans. Someone with some work done may see different results from the A/F dilution. tl;dr: More NOx, barely noticable gains.

interesting, thats about what i gathered from the forums. i personally deleted mine bc my egr pipe was also cracked much worse than this guys and also half the vacuum hoses behind the block were cooked. all og s14 ka24de with like 230k on the clock but shes still kickin. I also barely felt any difference in torque or anything but it wasnt a mod i did with a cheap quick hp gain in mind, just future ease of mind. One question i do have that i wasnt able to get a clear answer to was how to vent the gas tank with the carbon canister deleted. i have the hardlines that used to go to the canister open. I read you have to do something with a check valve on the vent hose with like a filter on it to properly vent but ive had 0 issues so far, do you know anything about this? @@Nezumi_The_Stripes

Sup man this vid helped a lot and I also have the same issue with the misfire. If you figure it out let me know. I have a 1991 also. Deleted EGR along with the vacuum tubes leading to the air intake

Hey bro! Glad the video was helpful. I ended up tracing the misfire to a pretty decent sized vacuum leak between the bottom intake plenum and the head. Took it off, cleaned the surface, new gaskets, and shes run perfect ever since. If you need any help or anything DM me on instagram and id be glad to help 🤟

@@RedneckTuners I watched a few other videos and they said you had to remove the plunger & butterfly valves because the plunger has a vacuum line at the bottom. But I see you left it and just capped it. So I’m a lil confused on which way to do it.

@@machi7796 Honestly, i ran mine capped off in the car for over a month with no issues but unfortunately i had to pull my whole manifold out to replace the top plenum since it was sealing properly and led to a bad vacuum leak. Since the manifold was already out, the butterfly valve got removed. If you plan on taking off your manifold id recommend doing the delete while its out but if you wanna do it simple you can just cap it off

@@machi7796 The four i capped off in the video run to the front under the throttle body and are used in the charcoal canister. If you plan on keeping that for venting to the gas tank you can just leave them all capped where i did in the video. If you plan on deleting it, you can cap them under the throttle body as well and delete the canister but make sure to vent your gas tank if you do go that route.

Could I still pass emission tests? Does it help the vehicle run better?

  • @RedneckTuners

    @RedneckTuners

    2 ай бұрын

As far as emissions it depends on your location. In California, it definitely will not pass, but other states it may. Personally, my car did end up running better because of how old and cracked all of the vacuum lines are and how clogged the egr tube and bpt valve was but if your car is functioning in the stock form just fine, I personally don’t think it is worth removing.
